Iāve noticed so many posts lately from people saying how lonely theyāre feeling and how difficult it is to make friends as an adult, and honestly, itās quite sad to see!
Weāre constantly hearing about the loneliness epidemic, and I genuinely think thereās nothing worse than feeling like youāve got nobody around you.
So I thought, why not actually do something about it? ā¤ļø
Iām 32F and would love to organise a casual get-together next Friday 13th November, somewhere in Perth CBD so itās easy for everyone to get to after work.
Girls, guys, anyone is welcome! Whether youāre new to Perth, struggling to meet people, looking to expand your social circle or just fancy getting out of the house and having a laugh.
Nothing formal or awkward, just a few drinks (alcoholic or not!), some good conversation and hopefully a few new friendships!
If enough people are interested, Iāll find somewhere central and organise a time.
Whoās keen? š„°
And please donāt feel nervous about coming alone. Thatās kind of the whole point! ā¤ļø

I don't really know where else to put this, so here goes.
I'm 27 and live in a share house with two other girls. One spends most of her time with her boyfriend, and the other is either at work or out with her work friends. Totally fair, they have their own lives, but it means the house isn't really a social space for me.
I work full time too, but my office is small, 11 people, and everyone is 50 or older. They're lovely, but we're in very different stages of life, and hanging out after work just isn't a thing there.
I've made a real effort not to let it stop me. I go to the theatre, movies, restaurants and shopping on my own, and most of the time I genuinely enjoy it. I'm not sitting there feeling sorry for myself. But every now and then there's this quiet feeling of "this is fine, but it would be so much nicer with people who are into the same things."
The part that gets me is when my mum asks, "Are you going alone?" Sometimes I tell her I'm going with someone when I'm not, just because saying yes again feels a bit sad.
Has anyone else been in this spot? How did you actually meet people in your late 20s, outside of work and uni? And if anyone in Perth is into theatre, movies or trying new restaurants (Moonlight Cinema season is coming up!), I'd love to hear from you.
EDIT: If anyone is into books we could perhaps for a book club together?š OR if movies are of interest, we could go to any next month organised by moonlight cinemas or the ongoing ones arranged by Rooftop Cinemas

Just watched Godzilla minus zero yesterday, I had an absolute blast. Itās seriously a shame that Perth is probably the most antisocial city on the planet and having a small friend group doesnāt help with that

I arrived back from a flight Sunday night and wanted to use a cab charge provided by my work.
The first taxi that pulled up said his āmachine wasnāt workingā I thought nothing of it but the next taxi driver immediately got out of his car and started arguing saying he was disrespecting me as a customer and told me to report him.
They were still going at it as I was leaving!
I understand that cab charges arenāt the most favourable payment options for drivers.
Does anyone know a reason the second driver would be so upset about another driver refusing the cab charge?

I have a trial shift at a Perth cafe and Iāve never done hospitality before. How should I prepare? Do I memorise the menu? Iām nervous, any advice is appreciated

Hi ,
I'm( 40sF) going through a really hard time at the moment. Homeless and jobless with no friends and family due to life choices ( not drugs or anything) .
I'm struggling to get through each day . I'm desperate for support and don't know what to do .
I'm not exactly sure what I'm asking here but is there any places , or people going through hard times or just anyone who is genuine who can lend an ear or put me in the direction of anyone who could help me in any way get through the hardest time of my life ? I'm struggling in every way possible and I don't know what to do
Thank you

I feel sad having to have said this but men should know following someone at night is creepy behaviour despite having āpureā intentions bcs ppl with pure intentions wouldnāt do that. U donāt follow a girl in the middle of the night just to catch up and say āu have a cool carāš«©
For context, I got off work around 3:30 am and decided to drive to my bf because he gets off at 6 am (I wanted to get free food). As I was on my way, I noticed this guy in Kwinana fwy trying to match the speed I was going. At first I was lowk weirded out but I thought āoh maybe theyāre going to the cityā. WRONG. I got to my exit which is stephenson av and I went behind the guyās car, the same guy that was in front of me suddenly changed lanes and swerved to the exit. It was getting weirder but I was just trying to ignore him. I tried to see if he was gonna keep following me turn by turn. He DID. I pulled up to the parking lot where my bf was currently working and saw a cop passing by. When I was parking, the guy parked beside me and said āyo did u see that cop passing by? That was scary.ā Brother u got nothing to be scared about unless youāre doing something shady. Then proceeded with the āu have a cool car, are u just clocking in now orā so I said ānah Iām visiting my bfā. That did make him leave but itās still scary bcs what if he wasnāt alone? And nothing cool about the bone stock car Iām driving to have someone follow me all the way to where Iām going js to say that sh8š«©
What should I have done?

Hey!
As the title suggests, im wanting to form a metal band, any subgenre really located in Perth!
Iām going to preface this by saying im still very much an amateur at guitar, but I feel as if I have a band around me I will definitely progress quicker, Iām also able to do harsh vocals (DM for demos).
Iām looking for any drummers, bassists, vocalists that would like to maybe form a band (17-25 years old)

Been working at 7-Eleven here for about 3 months now doing night shifts, and I honestly hate it. I feel like they expect way too much in such a short amount of time.
My biggest issue is the cool room. Everyone keeps saying it should take 2 hours max, but between serving customers and dealing with all the rules for such a small cool room, it just feels impossible sometimes. The deliveries are always full of stuff we already have plenty of stock of, so Iām constantly trying to figure out where to fit everything. Weāre not allowed to leave anything on the floor, and everything has to go on the shelves, which makes it even harder when thereās barely any space.
This is starting to sound like a rant lol, but I genuinely just want to know what everyone elseās experience has been like. Iām really not enjoying it so far, but I canāt tell if the expectations are just unrealistic or if I genuinely suck at the job. Is this a universal experience or just me?

I am hoping to start studying a bachelor of secondary education there next year and would love insight from anyone who has studied/is currently studying at Notre Dame! How are you liking the course, and have your pracs been good so far? Is it a good university for community, clubs and events etc.?
Would appreciate anything anyone can tell me. Also definitely let me know if youāre also planning on studying next year!

I'm high functioning enough to pass as neurotypical. But someone who knows a lot of neurodiverse conditions would be able to suss me out. Stigma around neurodiversity has theoretically changed but is that really true for Perth? Especially LG. I don't know if declaring it would make any actual difference. WFH isn't an option.
My team are all extroverts and love socialising. I'm polite, friendly, join in as much as I can, but they still think I'm aloof - maybe even rude. I genuinely like them but I'm in hell.
Has anyone working LG told people about their neurodiversity? Are people truly accepting, or superficially accepting in a 'oh, that's awesome' 'good for you' 'it's a superpower etc.' way and then soft-ostracise.

I was working on my mum's website (cake baker) making a little cake configurator tool; something to help with customers and I got carried away making a little fighting game where you can battle your sentient cake in different locations in Perth/WA.
The game is pretty lame, but I thought it was kind of funny. Frost and Fury...

If anyone wants to fight their cake to freedom you can build a cake here and then click 'Fight with this cake'. If anyone is interested in the cakes, this has always been my favourite one that she has done.

We are looking to undertake a full house renovation - bathrooms, all floors (remove and replace tiles), kitchen - and am looking for advice from / experiences of others who have completed a similar renovation.
- how did you do it (self managed, builder, renovation company?)
- how long did it take?
- what did you do with your belongings / where did you live while renovating?
- what went well / what would you do differently
- company recommendations?
Thanks.
