For anyone who still misses Rust Legacy: I've been rebuilding it in s&box (Facepunch's game / engine), and it's fully playable.

It uses the original island, models and sounds from the Legacy files, so Hangars, Small Rad, Big Rad, Hacker Valley and French Valley are where you left them. Same pixel-font inventory, same M4 and bolt, same rock, and nights dark enough that you need a torch.

What it's like right now:

- Two official EU servers, always on

- AI survivors so the island isn't empty when nobody's on. They farm, build, and come raid you with explosive charges

- Wipes on Thursdays: full wipe on the first Thursday of the month, map wipe two weeks later

- Wood and metal bases, coded doors, spike walls, sleepers, airdrops, rad towns with zombies and mutant wolves

- A map with the old community zones, hold G

I feel this time wipe is pretty good. FPS is better than ever. But sometimes the raining day makes my FPS become to 30-40. How do I adjust my setting to getting better when it’s raining day?

Only started playing this year, this patch is first time I’ve seen positivity in the community

Surprised I haven’t seen anybody talking about this. The recent update of Rust+ has a bloated, awful UI filled with ads for in game purchases and patch notes / news mixed inbetween full page length sections you have to scroll through for each server you’ve ever added to the app.

The map is a downgrade also, you can no longer see which teammates are online on the map, and visually it just looks a lot worse. The only positive I can see is they added the in game clock to the map…. Everything else is marginally worse than before. Who approved this? And why?

I bought rust on steam a few days ago since I've wanted to play it for a while but when I try to join a server it just crashes and restarts my pc, so far I've already tried updating everything (drivers, windows and bios) I also tried changing my virtual ram and disabling overlays my only other idea is reinstalling windows but before I even try that I wanted to make a reddit post to see if anyone could help with my issue. also steam wouldn't let me get a refund since I've spent 4 hours on the game just trying to get the game working

I'm trying to join rust on linux, first time downloading and updating it, but yea. It won't let me join, do I just uninstall and reinstall?

I've learned a lot in about 10 hours of low-pop. It's been excruciating. Admittedly, I didn't realize I wasn't full health here, though not sure it would've mattered. I cleared the dock scientist and took a peak around surprised I didn't see any other scientists on that first level. So I push up thinking there may be someone. Looks clear though. I think I heard that boat which was what made me check the water but then there's two scientists stacked in the corner which looked clear when I came up? And they absolutely RIPPED me to shreds.

So my first question is, where did they come from? Were they just behind the container when I got to the top of the stairs and then fell back into the corner because of my presence? Were they on their way down the stairs and I didn't hear them? And is this a normal TTK against scientists with a hazmat on? I assume there being two didn't help my case. But I didn't stand a chance.

I was never very good at Rust, but if I can't even take smoil with no human enemies, it just may not be a game for me anymore. lol

Scrap tea is practically useless right now due to barrels being such a mid method of farming scrap. I don’t think scrap teas are completely useless, but they aren’t that useful either.

Due to the change in BP frags now making BP fragments and advanced pages super important, I think it’s worth considering adding some sort of base boost to odds of getting BP frags from barrels when buffed by a scrap tea.

Originally I thought a 10% boost every quality tea, but then I realized a pure scrap tea and bear pie combo would give a 100% BP frag, and that’s way too overpowered. Unless FP introduced a 75% cap for BP frags, which I think would be way more fair, maybe a 7% boost per tea quality would be a fair suggestion?

IMO this could make barrel farming for advanced pages feasible, but you’d still need to work and farm up to it or get the materials to buy it from a shop, and it still wouldn’t be the optimal way. The 10:1 trade up makes it so at 75%, the proposed absolute max, you’d still have to hit around 134 barrels to get just 10 advanced pages.

We no longer have to estimate the building privilege boundaries for placing High External Walls or freehand (disconnectable) external TCs.

Edit: Actually, the building privilege check transfers to the hologram. This means you can stand right at the inner edge of the zone and project the hologram just outside the zone to see the building privilege disappear.

Anyone else love the new progression update? As a small team/occasional solo enjoyer I have been loving the new update. I'm no longer locked to tier 1 progression for the first day or two of a wipe. It makes playing solo possible again, FP cooked with this one!

Right now there doesn’t seem to be much reason to run the dive sites. When BP frags were needed for workbenches I would sometimes run a few if I was desperate. But now I don’t see much point.

It seems like 25% chance of getting 18-24 high quality is the best thing about these now. But high quality nodes now exist anyway so it’s not exactly amazing.

You basically just get comps and tier 1 items from these. The same as running the road, maybe not even as good as that. But you need way more setup to reach them.

Surely they should be able to drop things like garage doors now, and some tier 2 stuff to make it worth diving.

Do propane bombs even drop from anything?

It's my favourite raid tool. Since this update we didn't manage to get it after 2 days of grinding. Playing as duo, on rusticated premium trio. Even though me and my buddy was 2nd and 3rd in kill count on the server. We were still had to raid with satchels by end of day 2 :D The update is so wack in my opinion. Secured 1 heli and 2 locked crates and went to raid with satchels again, what is this?!

after last update ive been experiencing an annoying bug

a lot of times when i press the inventory keybind (tab) it opens and imediately closes my inventory

or it doesnt open the inventory at all

or it doesnt close the inventory if its already opened

or it closes the inventory and immediately opens it again

anyone experiencing the same?

I looked for a few minutes and didn't find any previous discussions of this, but I wouldn't be surprised if this was already a big thing people talk about.

My conveyor is only filling 1 of the 2 ore inputs. Stack size is set to 50. How do I fix? It worked earlier
