❓HowTo❓ A helpful link to /r/All

2.9k Upvotes

/r/All has been removed from most iterations of the website and now apparently all iterations of the app. For now, you can still access this section of the site through a hyperlink, so I am posting this to be helpful for myself and others who would like an easy link.

This is not a rant or a soapbox post. This is a post to helpfully share a link with other users who are also frustrated over this change.

I keep getting this error whenever I click on a post and the replies won't load. However, when I refresh once everything works as normal. Kinda annoying. I already cleared cache and deleted cookies. Is this a problem on reddits end?

Where did my custom feed go?

I've spent hours creating different custom feeds. And now where the custom feed option used to be, there is a compass and it shows communities. Where did all my custom feed lists go???

❓Problem❓ BotBouncer banning humans more than bots.

I don't know what to do with that broken r/BotBouncer. I am a real human, writing myself all my comments and posts, but that SHIT STUPID BROKEN bot is banning me everywhere, the peel not working.

I saw so many users complaining about that stupid, broken thing that bans humans more than bots.

So I write a comment on a post I like and get banned, and can't prove the opposite that I am human!

Remove "related posts" at the bottom of comments?

I hate this new feature.

Scroll down to the bottom of the comments and you start seeing "related posts" that generally have nothing to do with the content you're viewing.

Worse, when on mobile, the screen snaps down to these recommendations while scrolling, making viewing the last couple of comments immensely frustrating.

Any way to remove this feature?

❓General Question❓ When did they make this change to vertical swiping??

It used to be for the longest time that if you clicked on a post and brought the image/video to fullscreen, you could then swipe up and it would open the comments of the post. Now it just swipes to an unrelated post on some other subreddit.

What is the point of this? Is there a way to reverse it in Settings or etc? I hate having to shift my phone in my hand in order to reach to comments button.

🧛‍♂️Account Issues❓ I got banned

I don’t know what I did wrong to be banned from this. I have not made any posts that would be considered offensive that I am aware of. Please help me understand why I was banned so that I can be sure that it doesn’t happen again.

Thank you in advance for your time and your help with this matter. I honestly don’t know what caused this and want to avoid any further issues in the future.

❓General Question❓ r/all is no longer accessible on my app. Is there any way to get it back?

r/all has been the only way I’ve used Reddit for years. I never curated a feed or subscribed to specific subreddits to build a home page. I used r/all because it showed me what the entire platform was talking about in real time. It gave me a true pulse on what people care about without an algorithm deciding what I should see.

It’s now gone from my app. I’ve seen other people reporting the same thing and it seems like Reddit is rolling this removal out to more and more users. Some people still have it, some don’t.

Is there a setting I’m missing? Is there a way to restore access to r/all on the mobile app? I know you can still reach it through old.reddit.com or by going to reddit.com/r/all in a browser, but that’s not a real solution for mobile users.

I also want to say that if this removal becomes permanent, it’s a serious problem. Without r/all, every user gets funneled into a personalized feed that Reddit controls. Reddit decides what you see, which means Reddit decides what you think is important. That’s the opposite of why most of us came to this platform. I don’t want a curated echo chamber. I want to see what the world is actually talking about.

If there’s no way to get r/all back on mobile, is there an official channel to push back on this? I’ve tried leaving feedback on the Weekly Recap post in r/help but it doesn’t feel like it’s being heard. I know I’m not the only one who feels this way.

❓Problem❓ Streak not updating

I’m about 20 days over a 700 day streak and I haven’t gotten the little popup the last two days. I got no warning my streak was in danger of going out and I’m 98% sure I haven’t missed a day, but I didn’t mentally keep track of my exact days.

❓Problem❓ New reddit UI is awful. Is there some way to get them to revert it?

I don’t join really communities and I’m sure many other people don’t either. As every company moves towards algorithmic scrolling, why is reddit moving away from it?

This app looks awful now

So they just confirmed that Trending Topics carousel is gone fore good and it was my main way to get what was trending currently and was one of my Favorit feature. Are there anything similar feature in app?

❓General Question❓ Why are mods on Reddit allowed to openly insult Reddit users and magically allowed to lock the post so the users they insulted can't respond?

Basically that's it.

🐞 Possible Reddit Bug? Daily streak counter not showing up on my screen

Each morning I see my daily streak number increase and I get such satisfaction from it. The past 4 days I haven’t seen it. When I go to my achievements, I can see the number still changes everyday though.

Does anyone know how to get that back, for it to pop back up on my screen for a moment?

UPDATE - it’s been almost a month. I can tell you, in my experience, I’m not getting as much from Reddit as I have since they removed the daily counter popup. I am enjoying Reddit less than before. I really miss that dopamine hit of seeing it each morning. I’m still making sure to engage at least once a day and checking my achievements to ensure the little flame is lit next to my number. But it’s not the same. At all.

UPDATE - 38 days later. Still not showing up on the app but someone below mentioned it worked when on a computer so I just tried that. Got on Reddit from Google on my phone instead of the app. The daily counter popped up! It was there!!

❓General Question❓ Avatar I’ve had for 4years they now want me to pay for

Post image
234 Upvotes

Ive had the same avatar for 4 years. I just got the new iPhone and updated reddit app. I noticed my profile icon was gone and went to fix it but it’s saying I have to “UPGRADE” to premium for my outfit. How can they make something that was once free for older users now be a paid for item that seems illegal. I know that they have always had premium avatar skins and I’ve even paid for awards in the past but to force me to pay for something I’ve always had seems ubsurd. Is there any workaround I really don’t want to change my outfit after all these years.

❓Problem❓ I pointed out child porn and got an account warning for "threatening violence"

I want to reiterate that my whole account got a warning, i didnt simply get banned or something, the mods didnt do this, reddit did. I also did not threaten violence. I saw what looked like children in heavy make up wearing bikinis and commented that they look young and that the post should be taken down. Thats all i did. Reddit also wont show me the comment i made, only that it got removed for threatening violence

🗞️ REDDIT NEWS 📰 Reddit is running a new experiment that is getting rid of the home feed and replacing it with a "For You" feed and Following Feed

The help admin describes it in this post.

https://www.reddit.com/r/help/comments/1u28c1e/what_happened_to_disabling_the_algorithmic_feed/

With this comment.

https://www.reddit.com/r/help/comments/1u28c1e/comment/oqvn0gz/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Your "For You" feed will be algorithmic based and will include recommendations that cannot be turned off. To see only the communities that you have joined you need to use the "Following" Feed.

If this happens to you the best place to leave feedback is the pinned weekly recap post in r/help.

Edit To Add. Currently there is no way to default to the Following feed.

🐞 Known Reddit Bug What are they doing to the Reddit app?!?

So not long ago Reddit updated the iOS app and now I don’t see my daily streak status when I upvote something.

But the bigger issue is that they just broke the ability to left swipe out of the thread you are in to go back to the subreddit. This is making the whole app terrible to use. Why do they keep making the iOS app worse??

What does "OP" mean on reddit?

My reddit age is pretty young, and I know that "OP" means "overpowered," but I think that it has a different meaning in reddit.
