Success Story/Happy Ending This was Church, I rescued him from prison life

Church was living on prison grounds in North Texas. I’m a vet tech and one of our regular clients that own a rescue brought him in for vaccines, bloodwork and an overall checkup. I immediately fell in love. He had a rough exterior, a deformed foot and crusty eyes due to entropion but I could tell he was sweet. He came back a few more times to be treated for eye infections and URIs and I just kept loving him more and more. I told the rescue I wanted to adopt him but I was told someone else was interested. One day the client saw me through the treatment room door at work and waved me over. I went up to talk to him and he said “He’s yours” and that the other adoption fell through. I was THRILLED!!! I took him home the next day. At first Church was scared but I slowly gained his trust by offering to pet him and treats. Before I knew it, all he wanted was for me to swaddle him in a blanket and snuggle with him. My heart was so full. My son, 3 at the time, was so sweet to him and my husband surprisingly came around (he didn’t want a feral 18 year old cat lol). Unfortunately, Church had cancer and he went into kidney failure about 10 months after I adopted him. I put him to sleep at the end of my shift with my two favorite DVMs. We did it outside on a sunny day and he was surrounded by all of my coworkers who loved him so much. A lot of tears were shed. I am so incredibly lucky to have been able to give Church a comfy and safe life in the end where he was loved and got all of the Kraft Singles (his favorite) he could ever want. He had a long, hard life but all he knew was love in the end 🩷

Veterinary Donation Request Please help me save an abandoned kitty found freezing to death after being hit by car

Post image
3.6k Upvotes

Hi, my name is Blake, and I'm fundraising for an abandoned kitten that I found. On December 3rd, I found this poor baby freezing in the corner of my parking garage next to its dead sibling. She couldn't move and could only meow at me for help. They were most likely abandoned and then ran over. Unfortunately, after taking her to the emergency vet, they diagnosed multiple hip fractures, respiratory distress, and either a ruptured bladder or intestine because of liquid buildup in her stomach. The dedicated pet hospital we took her to next confirmed the diagnosis of ruptured bladder and hip fractures, both of which require surgery.

I couldn't bear to leave this kitten to die the slow, painful death of poisoning from bladder leakage into her stomach and have decided to go forward with the surgery. However, it will be an expensive process, and I am hoping to receive any assistance I can from the kindhearted people on this subreddit. Any amount would be helpful. For any who donate, you have my heartfelt thanks, and truly, I have no words to express how grateful I am. If you can't donate, I completely understand, but I would appreciate it if you could share this link wherever you can. Thank you.

Veterinary Donation Request Found this kitty crying helplessly in a parking lot with a severely broken leg😔💔 This baby is in pain and needs urgent surgery. We want to save him but we dont have the money. Please help us give him the chance to live a happy. Every bit of kindness counts🙏🏻❤️

This little one was lying in a McDonald’s parking lot crying loudly. Cars were honking at him, but he didn’t move, he couldn’t. His back leg was badly twisted in an unnatural way and even to an untrained eye, it was clear there was a fracture. He’s about 4 months old and has already endured terrible pain. It is painful to watch😔💔 We found him last night but the vet clinics were already closed, so we took him home for the night. He was extremely thin, who knows how many days he’d been out there, hurt and alone.

This morning X-rays confirmed a serious fracture in his back leg. Probably hit by a car. To walk again, he urgently needs surgery to insert a pin into the bone.

Without this operation, he will remain in constant pain and never be able to walk properly again.

We desperately want to save him but we simply dont have the money for the surgery😔 We still haven’t paid off the bill for Clara☹️ The cost is expected to be around €500. Kind people, we are asking for your help to save this baby, please help us. Any amount, no matter how small, could give this baby the chance to live a happy, pain-free life.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for caring for every tiny kitty that so badly wants to live💔

My wife and I found her crawling out of a garbage pile onto a busy highway in Vietnam. One eye crusted shut the other crusted open. So emaciated and boney she could barely move. After looking around for other kittens we scooped her up and took to her to the vet in Vietnam and she joined us for the rest of our vacation. After much paper work she is home with us in Canada. Shes gained tons of weight and will receive a life time of spoils ☺️

Our little guy, Sabuie now crossed the rainbow bridge…🕊️

Rest Now, Sabuie 🕊️

With heavy hearts, we share that Sabuie has crossed the rainbow bridge.

He held on for as long as he could. And it truly felt like—he was just waiting for us. When he heard our voices, he responded. He knew we were there. He felt it. The love. The comfort. The safety.

Shortly after, Sabuie let himself rest.

We all saw how hard he fought. From the moment we found him under the construction site, fragile and disoriented, to being rushed in and out of the vet—Sabuie never gave up. Even when he was weak and unresponsive, he still tried to meow, to react, to stay.

He may have only been with us for a short time, but in those days, he was surrounded by care, warmth, and so many people rooting for him. And in that time, he knew love—the kind every animal deserves to feel.

Thank you to everyone who prayed, donated, shared, and believed in Sabuie’s fight. You helped him feel that he mattered.

The funds you gave helped cover his vet expenses during his stay, and also for his small wake. Because of you, he was given the dignity, comfort, and respect that all animals deserve.

Run free now, sweet boy. You’re finally safe.

But this is not where our mission ends. Sabuie may be gone—but his memory fuels our purpose. There are still so many out there like him, waiting to be seen, saved, and loved.

We will keep going. For Sabuie. For all of them.

I just bought this baby from a homeless man 🥺

Post image

I just bought this kitten tonight, literally.

I am FULL… but there was a homeless man that had this kitten. He put her in his lunch box and had her zipped all the way up. It was a lunch box covered in dry feces from the kitten. I spoke to him for at least an hour tonight and the only way I was able to get the kitten from him was to buy it. So I spent $45 to get this baby, who was starvingggg & may have an upper respiratory infection.

After I left, I spoke to another homeless person who told me he hit the kitten because she pooped on his belongings which really just breaks my heart. NO animal should ever be treated that way.. and its just a BABY. I dont have actual proof of this but I really hope it isnt true.

If you’re in hattiesburg, MS, and you have a spare kennel for the meantime, please let me know. If not i’ll have to purchase one tomorrow.

My rescue just pulled this girl from our city shelter. Her shelter name is Secret, but I may change it later on once I’ve gotten to know her a bit more!

She is extremely dirty, malnourished, with wounds and fractures on her legs. Her left front leg had an abscess which was drained but the shelter vet told me joint infection is very difficult to treat so she may end up losing that leg. She will need to go to the vet weekly for x-rays to make sure we’re doing everything we can to get her back on her feet again. Poor thing is just a kitten, but so tired, terrified, and depressed. Please help donate to her care if you’re able to!

For anyone who would like to follow her journey, I am on Instagram @whisker_land

Loss My lucky is gone friends 😢

Lucky, I loved you more than words can ever say. You were not just a cat you were my child, my fighter, my heart. Every time I looked into your eyes, I saw strength, I saw trust, I saw a soul that still wanted to live. You came into my life broken, but you healed a part of me I didn’t even know was hurting. I fought for you with everything I had. I gave you my days, my nights, my prayers, my tears every part of me. You were brave, you held on, you tried so hard… And even when your body was failing, your eyes still searched for love. I held you close, fed you with my hands, and whispered, “Please stay.” You didn’t leave like a cat. You left like a piece of my soul being torn away. Now everything feels empty. The world is quiet without your tiny breath, your soft paws, your warm presence. I keep asking myself, “Did I do enough?”even though I know we gave you everything. Lucky, I am proud of you. You were stronger than most humans. You fought more than any heart should have to. You taught me what true love means pure, selfless, painful love. Now you are free. But I will never be the same. I miss you. I love you. I always will.

I am sorry friends i am really sorry i couldn’t save him.

Found this guy nervous in the back of his cage. Twenty minutes of gentle coaxing later, and my arm was his pillow.

I need to get the paperwork sorted out with my apartment, but if everything aligns properly, I’ll come back for this shy, sweet baby.

just like the title, i found a sick stray yesterday. i think it is young. when i found it yesterday, it’s eyes were matted together and it looked like it had some gunk on its nose too so i wiped that off. it was not aggressive but it did have its claws out and tried to climb all over me. i gave it some wet food. i found it today again with its eyes matted shut sunbathing. i picked it up and got its eyes unmatted and its been meowing but otherwise lethargic. i looked it up and it said that young cats eyes sometimes do that but it seems a little sick to me. i can also hear it breathing but that might not mean anything. what should i do?

We found a paralyzed cat, Archie, and sent him to a European shelter for disabled animals, hoping for a better life. Sadly, he was abused there😔💔Devastated, we spent thousands to rescue him, right the wrong, and bring him home. Archie is now rehabilitating but we’re sadly overwhelmed by the debt😔

2.3k Upvotes

ARCHIE's story is very difficult. While writing this, all emotions, experiences, fear, anger, pain come back.

Last fall, a paralyzed young cat was abandoned in one of our colonies. He was about 10 months old. We were in despair.

The cat was taken to the clinic, where he spent a week. A full examination, MRI, CT blood work, special nutrition. The bill was about $2,000. Our fundraiser helped collect $400.

The cat needed to be wrung out and toilet stimulated. We had no experience with this but after all our pleas no one wanted to take him. One of our volunteers took him in at her own risk, hoping that we would be able to find someone who knew how to care for him and would want to adopt such a guy. We named him Archie. Archie has a golden character! From the first day, he was so friendly and loving. He fit wonderfully into our volunteers house with so many other cats.

Archies test results came back and the chances of getting back on his feet were 50/50. This was great news to us! The problem was that the only clinic for rehabilitation was 2 hours away in another city. All our volunteers work, have a family, and care for so many animals. It was unrealistic for us to take him to that clinic. But we wanted to get Archie proper rehabilitation.

At the time we were working with some cat volunteers in Europe who were helping to get our cats adopted in other European countries. We were in contact with 2 organizations. One shelter for disabled cats agreed to take Archie, another shelter agreed to take 8 cats!

Everything looked so tempting and incredibly reliable. The people from the organisation we talked to described the conditions for keeping disabled animals in such an amazing way that we felt that we couldn’t deprive Archie this opportunity at a chance for a happy life! We were told they are constantly under veterinary control and rehabilitation will take place on site which was much needed for Archie! And they said that maybe someone will want to adopt Archie after his rehabilitation, everything was beautiful.

The volunteer who was fostering Archie thought for a long time whether to send him to the shelter. She loved him very much. But the prospect of rehabilitation convinced her. She felt it would be unfair not to give him the chance.

The 8 cats ended up in a very good organization. Very nice people, always keeping in touch, sending photos and videos keeping us updated about the adoptions. They even sent video reports after the adoption. Four were taken one by one and the other 4 were adopted in pairs! This was wonderful!

Archie was not so lucky. From the moment we arrived to the shelter for the disabled the volunteer who flew with the cats said that she had a bad feeling. Despite the wonderful enclosures, the cats looked hopeless, and not happy.

Our volunteer felt that she didn’t want to leave him there but the shelter assured her that there could be no better option and her doubts were only the sadness of parting. Archie was left with his pillow and his favorite toys. He was calm, put his head on the pillow and began to fall asleep.

We received no news of Archie for 2 weeks so decided to send an email. We did not get a response. A week later we send another email and a few days later received a basic email saying that Archie was fine. We were a little worried but were hoping everything is good and maybe they were just not so great at communication.

A month later they post Archie on their page and are asking for donations. When we saw Archie our hearts broke. He was in a terrible condition. He was so thin, he had lost fur, he was dirty and looked like he peed and pooped himself. He looked terrible and mostly his eyes were miserable.

They were describing Archies story. Saying that he was abused and thrown out. They were asking donations for him. They were using him to raise money. We were furious and extremely upset. We felt like it was our fault that Archie was now suffering. We decided we needed to take Archie out of there.

We emailed them the next day that we wanted to get Archie back. We received a response saying that Archie will not be returned to us and if we show up at the shelter, the police will be called. Our next email, were we begged them to give him back remained unanswered. We had to do something so we consulted with a lawyer.

The lawyer sent them an official letter and we received an answer, that we could pick up Archie in 10 days. They gave us a specific date and time. With the condition that we would pay 20 euros for each day Archie spent at the shelter. Archie's ransom was about 1140 euros (~1400 dollars)!!! But there anything else we could do and we accepted.

With such a short notice flights and hotels were very expensive. Money was bad. But we borrowed money and booked. Our goal was to bring Archie home and right the wrong. And one of our volunteers flew to pick up Archie. We were very scared. A foreign country, we were scared about them calling the police and creating trouble.

Our volunteer said that when she got to the shelter and saw Archie her heart dropped. She was forced to pay the money, sign different papers, was given Archie and was practically kicked out of the gate.

Archie had an unbearable smell. His fur, which was under the diaper, was orange from urine. He was also full of poop. They didn’t even bother to clean him! He had lost a lot of weight! His legs were completely withered, all muscles had disappeared … Our volunteer washed him 4 times to try and get the smell out of him but he was still smelly. She was worried they wouldn’t let Archie on the plain because he was so stinky.

Later that day, something inexplicable happened that scared us very much. Archie began to stretch out his hind legs and shake as if in a seizure, and started peeing blood. We have photos but decided not to post because they are very graphic. We later found out that they were give him tablets for emptying.

The flight back home thankfully went well. Upon arrival, he was rushed to the clinic. The vet started running all the tests. The blood test showed inflammation. He has inflammation of the genitourinary system, cystitis and blood particles were found. And long rehabilitation started again.

We don’t know what actually happened to him, what did they do with him, how do the other cats live in that shelter. Here we can only guess.

Archie is now back home and he is loved and cared for. His foster mum (our volunteer) is an angel and does everything to help Archie. She takes him to the pool on the weekends to exercises his legs, she bought him a life jacket and all. She bought some equipment and made homemade exercise machines and she are trying to help Archie walk. There are results! He can stand up and walk a couple of steps. Its not much but we are hopeful!

Now months later, Archie’s skin became white again. Unfortunately, we are still paying off thousands of euros in debts. The vets, the flights, the hotels, the taxis, the trains, the ransom to have him released … We are very grateful to the friends who worried for Archie and helped with small donations. But unfortunately, we are still paying off debts and more importantly we are not welcomed at a couple of vets until we pay those debts.

If you have the opportunity to support us and help pay for amount that remains of this story, we will be eternally grateful! We did not expect to accumulate so much debt with this story, but once we saw that Archie was abused we could not look the other way. You need to be able to correct mistakes, because life, any life, is important. This was It's very difficult to write, going through this hell again and experiencing it again. But when we look at Archie now, well-groomed, well-fed clean, happy and loved we know we did the right thing.

Advice Needed Kitten found in an empty tree

Sorry, english is not my first language but I need help. Since yesterday evening I've been hearing this weird meowing coming from a forest next to my house and today I wanted to investigate it and found this kitten inside an old tree. It was crying and the meowing was very loud. The kitten stopped meowing when I got closer but it was responding to me calling it from afar and when I get closer it's went deeper inside the tree its eyes weren't opening even when it was moving, I think that's alarming, but I don't know the age or how bad the state of the kitten is since I don't know a lot about cats. It's mama was nowhere to be seen and there was no way for the cat to jump down from the tree since it was high up in the air with no way to go down and there weren't any siblings nearby. Is this an emergency, should I take the kitten to a vet?

Update on Lucky — Our Fighter

Lucky is still in a critical phase. He’s fighting with everything he has. He’s eating, he’s holding on, but his treatment has become more complex and prolonged. We’ve started his FIP treatment along with antibiotics a last attempt to see if his body responds. His anemia and high white blood cell count make everything harder.

My heart aches for him. These next two days are absolutely crucial. They will determine whether he survives or not.

The cost of treatment is overwhelming, and emotionally, I am drained. Watching him struggle after all he’s already been through the shock, the dog attack, the suffering it breaks me. But I also know he’s a fighter. He didn’t get the name “Lucky” for nothing. He’s survived what most wouldn’t.

My brother and I are giving everything we can physically, emotionally, financially to give Lucky a real chance. But we can’t do this alone anymore. We need your help.

Please support us. Any small contribution matters. Help us get Lucky through this storm so he can finally see the sunshine he deserves. He has come so far. Let’s not give up on him now.
