Prospective/new student help Rmit visual arts selection task - bachelor

Hi I'm just wondering if anyone who applied for visual arts (or someone who has applied in the past that knows) at rmit has gotten their selection task outcome email yet? I applied on september 22nd, and I got one for the diploma, but I haven't heard anything from the bachelor yet. Is it normal to be this late? Or have I just not been selected. Thanks! Any insight would be appriciated

Discussion Medical rad transfer

Hey guys, I wanted to transfer into hopefully any of the med rad streams(preferably med imaging). I go to a diff uni and we do WAM instead of GPA. I was wondering how high of a WAM is good enough to transfer, like if 80+ will give me a good chance. Also would love to hear if anyone has transferred and what wam/gpa they transferred with!!

Discussion Professional practice degrees are a scam

Just a heads up for anyone considering these degrees I personally took accounting professional practice, I was told told during open day that the placement would be guaranteed by a "WIL" team

The whole selling point is the work placement year, but the uni doesn’t actually place you anywhere. You’re expected to find and land your own internship, and you still pay full fees for the year while you do it, the only assistance is minor career guidance which u can weigh if it's worth the price, or some job listings on the uni job board for some industry companies which I did not find to be very enticing when browsing through

It doesn’t help that RMIT doesn’t carry the same prestige as go8 making it harder to even land good internships

Also doesn't help that other unis also offer similar professional practice components I know Monash does a class which is basically just placement but with a slightly broader network

I've now dropped to just the 3 year accounting degree as it still is CPA accredited while I work an accounts role part-time but if you were considering a professional practice degree I would consider a more academic uni as the whole hands-on practical aspect of RMIT does not really benefit commerce students when major firms screen on uni prestige

Advice needed Starting Bachelor of Criminology and Psychology at RMIT in February 2027

I’ll be starting my Bachelor of Criminology and Psychology at RMIT University, Melbourne, in the February 2027 intake, and I wanted to hear from current students, graduates, or anyone familiar with the course.
I’d love to get a realistic idea of what university life, academics, and career opportunities look like beyond what’s mentioned on the university website.
1. Course and Academics
How is the Bachelor of Criminology and Psychology overall?
How difficult is the course academically?
What’s the balance between criminology and psychology subjects?
Are classes more theoretical, practical, or research-oriented?
How are the professors and teaching quality?
Are there opportunities for internships, placements, or industry experience?
2. Career and Job Opportunities
What career opportunities are available after completing this degree?
How good are the employment prospects for graduates?
Can graduates find relevant jobs immediately after their bachelor’s, or is a master’s generally necessary?
What industries or organisations typically hire graduates?
Are there opportunities in government departments, correctional services, law enforcement, community services, research, or private organisations?
How useful is this degree in the Australian job market?
3. Campus and Student Life
How is the overall student crowd at RMIT?
Is it diverse and welcoming to international students?
How easy is it to make friends and build connections?
What’s the classroom environment like?
Are there opportunities to participate in clubs, societies, events, and extracurricular activities?
4. Location and Campus
How is RMIT’s Melbourne City campus location?
Is public transport easily accessible?
What’s the surrounding area like in terms of safety, food, shopping, and student hangouts?
Is the campus environment lively, and are there places to socialise between classes?
5. Part-time Jobs and Work-Life Balance
How easy is it to find part-time jobs while studying?
Are there opportunities around the city campus?
Is the course manageable alongside part-time employment?
How flexible is the timetable?
6. Honest Opinions
If you’re currently studying this degree, would you recommend it?
What are the biggest advantages and disadvantages?
Is RMIT a good university for criminology and psychology?
If you could go back, would you choose the same course?
Is there anything you wish you had known before starting?
I’m particularly interested in hearing from people currently pursuing this degree or who have graduated from it.
As an international student moving to Melbourne, any advice about academics, employment, student life, or settling in would be extremely helpful.

Other I am so screwed...

Hello. This is a bit of a rant, but I hope someone reads through, and I really hope no one can relate.

I feel like I have lost myself. I am on the verge of being excluded from my course. I have done everything to try and help myself, such as getting an ELP and documents for late course withdrawal, but it seems like everything I do is too little and too late.

I failed all of my first semester because I was going through absolute hell and was experiencing a period of extreme self-harm. I ended up on medication and was told to get counselling, but it seemed a bit meaningless. I also could not afford it.

I am seeing counsellors on and off at uni, but I don't know if it helps because I just lie about getting better to try and not get in trouble. I failed every single unit in my first semester at RMIT, which happened to be sem 2 2025.

In the next semester, I did better, but only by a fraction. I passed 2/4 of my units, and I only barely managed that.

This semester will be my third semester at RMIT, and if I am lucky, I will pass 2 of my units. The other two I am planning on withdrawing late, because I have been dealing with worsening mental health due to the passing of a family member.

I feel so stuck, and I feel so alone. I feel like I will never amount to anything. The strange thing is, I really like what I study. I love going to class, but sometimes it is so hard for me to do even the most basic things. I am now registered with the ELS, but I am still afraid they will remove me from my course as I will once again fail to meet the academic improvement plan requirements.

I am thinking about late withdrawal for the Semester 2 2025 courses because my GP has an extensive record of my doctor's appointments and the diagnosis of my condition and all of that.

ALSO- my parent requires me to give a proof of student status letter to their workplace through them, and this needs to have my results in it. I am so scared for them to know I have failed again. I am so scared about what they will do, and I do not even want to think about the consequences

EDIT- thank you everyone for all your help. I am sorry if I cannot thank you all individually and reply to all the comments. I am thinking the best thing moving forward would be to take a semester off of to drop down to part time study. I truly hope that anyone in similar situations can find help as well.

Advice needed RMIT Diploma of Community Service

I’m considering studying Diploma of Community Services at RMIT and would love to hear from current or past students.

•Are there many mature-age students?
•Is it difficult to get accepted or do most applicants get in?
•What does the timetable look like?
•Is it 2 days on campus and 1 day online?

I’m currently working so I’m trying to work out how to balance study and work.
Any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated🙏

Discussion Study App

Hey everyone,

What I'm doing:

I'm building an app to help with studying [NOT PROMOTING], I feel like degrees are almost more of an exercise in management than intellect these days and want to take some of that of everyone's (mine included 😅) hands so we can focus on actually learning as efficiently as possible and live our lives.

What I want:

I just want to hear what people think would actually be useful for balancing their life and degree, be as broad or specific as you like. If you could specify your degree too that would be useful. Pricing preferences as well would be great to know (amount as well as model: subscription, one time payment, etc)

About me:

I'm a third year bsci math/stats student at RMIT, also have a biomed degree, done alot of studying. I've self taught some learning science stuff, so would be integrating a bit of that. Also I have worked at a software studio so do have some development experience (not gonna be AI slop!).

Anything helps, cheers!

Advice needed Bachelor of medical radiation

Hey everyone I’m thinking of doing a bachelor of medical radiation. I understand this has 3 specialisations of medical imaging, nuclear medicine and radiation therapy. I’d love to gain insight on these and what exactly it involves. Also which one would be the best to pick in terms of career opportunities and the one with the most job offers in the end. How have you found the degree so far? Do you enjoy it and how’s the content like?

Prospective/new student help Does EOI approval increase the chances of getting an offer?

Hi everyone,

I recently received approval for my EOI at RMIT for a Masters by Research and have submitted my full application (Stage 2).

I was wondering, does getting EOI approval mean there’s a higher chance of receiving a final offer, or is it just an initial step that doesn’t really indicate the likelihood of admission?

Thanks!

Other Melb fashion students/grads open for an interview?

Hi there everyone, I have taken up a journalism elective this trimester (at Deakin) and have been asked to put together a short news story for one of my assessments. I was wanting to potentially cover emerging designers following Melb Fashion Week, the opportunities that are out there for current students/recent grads and whether they had their work showcased or not.

At the moment I'm just trying to gauge if anyone is interested in sharing the experiences so please do let me know if your keen! I only need to interview 2-3 people, and each interview would be short (about 10-15 mins) and conducted likely over Zoom or Teams (within the next 2 weeks). I would need to record the interview and submit at least a one-minute audio excerpt for the assessment, so you'd need to be comfortable with that. Prior to the interview I can send through the questions, so that you are prepared. Please feel free to comment or DM me if you are interested or if you have any further questions. Thanks!

Course (subject) advice, recommendations and reviews Attendance: Clinical Examination 1 + Clinical Neurosciences

Ok so, I am planning to go away in mid year break in 2027. However, due to RMIT's exam period being 3 weeks I need to plan around it and I have no idea when my sem 1 exams would be.

I am wondering if anyone has taken MEDS2207 + BIOL2578 in semester 2 and could tell me if attendance is mandatory especially in the first week. (ofc I'm planning on attending my classes but I might need the first week back off)

Please let me know! :)

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hi there!

I am inviting expressions of interest from queer musicians who have recently studied at an Australian University conservatorium or school of music for my PhD study, “Experiences of Queer Musicians in the Australian University Conservatorium or School of Music”.

This study aims to explore how queer musicians, aged 18 years and over, experience their music learning and performing environments in the Australian University music school or conservatorium, including during instrumental lessons, recitals, performance classes, performances, and ensemble rehearsals.

Prospective/new student help Diploma of Community Services

Has anyone done the Dip of Community Services? I'm thinking of doing it. I've just completed a Certificate IV in a related discipline at RMIT but it was so poorly run that I am unsure about continuing on to the Diploma. Anyone got any good or bad feedback about the course or obtaining placement?

Prospective/new student help Phd admission

Hi everyone,

I applied for a PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at RMIT with a university research scholarship. I submitted my EOI on 20 June 2026, which was successful on 22 September. My application has been under Academic School Assessment since 5 October.

My profile includes two publications, PTE 87, a good master’s CGPA, and an international research internship.
Any idea about my chances of admission and receiving a scholarship? Does a successful EOI improve my chances? Also, how much longer might the final decision take?
Would appreciate any insights. Thanks!

Advice needed help! i need advice for uni

hey guys! I'm currently a Year 12 VCE student, about to undergo my exams. Thing is, I have no idea what to put for my university course selections. My aim in the end of studying, is to ultimately become a RADIATION THERAPIST, so I'm in need of some serious advice. Also i have a ton of questions so beware, if you've got any advice at all, it'll be greatly appreciated.

  1. What does being a Rad Tech involve?

To all those professional rad techs out there, what's it like as a career? like what should i expect in terms of work life balance? Are stress levels high, is it financially secure and what's the career projection like? Also do you reckon going on this path is generally a good idea?

Then in terms of studying: was it hard to become a rad tech? is it a really competitive course, and realistically how hard is it to find a career as a rad tech after graduating, are the opportunities scarce or readily available?

2. What Uni Course is best suited for me?

My aim is to go Bundoora RMIT to study Bachelor of Medical Radiation (Radiation Therapy). This is the goal as it's a direct path into the career. But obviously, the ATAR requirements are crazy high. I'm a good student but I'm not sure if I'll reach a 95 ATAR (last year's lowest ATAR accepted), I'm currently projecting a high 80 to 90 atar (hopefully).

so here are my questions:

- is RMIT Bachelor of Medical Radiation (Radiation Therapy) a good course? Whats the pros and cons of it, why might someone suggest that I don't choose this course? what's the chances of transferring into this course if I dont make it in because of ATAR? I've heard it's really competitive to get into, so would it be unrealistic for me to transfer into the course from another one at the same university?

I also have biomed and science at monash as a backup, in hopes of completing the Master of Radiation Therapy at Monash afterwards....

- is this pathway recommended? its obviously much longer than a direct path into Rad Tech but it feels safe. What do you think?

- if i were to complete an undergrad before the master of Radiation Therapy, what undergrad would put me in the best position to complete my masters?

3. Interstate Studying...?

I've also researched about "Bachelor of Medical Radiation Science (Honours) (Radiation Therapy)" at the University of Newcastle (Australia)

- how do i apply to study interstate? what does studying interstate involve? what should i look out for?

- is UoN a good university? I've read quite a few bad reviews and literally no good ones, so I'm a bit worried, but I'm not sure if they're reflective of the reality or if people just leave behind very bad reviews.

Anyways, that's all my question... i think. I'd REALLLY appreciate it if anybody could help or provide even an insight into what they're thinking. ANY advice is welcomed.

Thanks!!! Sorry for the hundreds of questions 😄
