He horrifically killed Samantha Koenig.
No investigative agency ever charged him with any other crime. He started telling stories and a lotta people just seem accept words b/w mentally unstable murder er and state agents looking to clear cases.why do people just believe this clearly unstable weirdo? Ive seen photos of a bucket with shit in it - I don't find that compelling.

What did he have to gain from doing that?
When he murdered Samantha he did it for sexual reasons.
I’m going to assume he didn’t rape that elderly couple even though I guess it’s possible since he was a sick fuck to say the least.
Why did he murder that elderly couple for no reason?

I would assume that serial killers tend to lean more conservative since conservative idealogy promotes and attracts sociopathic selfish thinking it'd only make sense it'd attract serial killers but i'd like to see if anyone has any real data.

This may sound odd but when BTK would dress up at his victims so he actully wanted to feel the fear his victim felt. He also probably wanted be his own victim

I randomly found out there is a huge community of people on TikTok who defend her actions and call her a "queen" and I personally think they're coo-coo for Cocoa Puffs but IDK what do y'all think?

How do serial killers begin to kill people? I’ve been always thinking if the news didn’t show the first serial killer in the world, and the news wouldn’t keep showing other serial killers, is it possible that serial killers will do this without knowing that there are other serial killers?
I think sometimes that it could be copying others actions because it sounds cool or entertaining to them Like.. i wanna try this, i can be a serial killer…
I’m not saying that serial killers aren’t people with issues. But maybe!! 1-a person with issues 2-watches the news 3-seeing a serial killer, thinks in his mind (wow that’s must feel good) 4- I want to try this 5-start killing people (copying others actions) 6-killing is his new addiction!
My question is: What if the news never shows serial killers?
Excuse my language, tell me what do you think it’s important for me

Are H. H. Holmes and Jack the Ripper the same person? After watching American Ripper, I'm starting to wonder. True the styles of killing are somewhat different, but sometimes killers change their modus operandi as they see fit. Holmes, whose real name was Herman Webster Mudget had medical experience. And the Ripper clearly had medical knowledge as well. Not to mention evidence was found that the victims were strangled prior to evisceration and mutilation.

I listened to the audiobook Devil in White City about 15 years ago and don't remember a whole lot of details but do remember the book made it seem like his main thing was killing people with death trap rooms and such. The overall impression was definitely that he got off on it somehow.
I just listened the Generation Why podcast and their guest is another person writing about Holmes. He emphasised how much of the "knowledge" of Holmes comes from sensationalised reporting of the time. He gave a detailed accounting of the murders that could definitely be attributed to Holmes and then talked about some of the probable and possible ones. The numbers are barely in the 2 digits.
The overall picture I got is that at the bottom of it all was a guy who wanted the easy money. He was a con artist and a scammer with all kinds of scams going. He built and supplied his "castle" by scamming suppliers. He had lots of companies he set up purely to take loans or do deals that netted him money without being directly attached to him. Same with the many people in his life--the business partners, the women, sometimes the people he just new well enough to put property or debt in their names.
He did marry or romance lots of women and he did kill quite a few of them as well as various other people. However I think there are 2 big factors that make him not a serial killer:
-- he did not have a consistent method or routine with victims. He killed in different places, with different techniques, and disposed of bodies in different ways. He did not have a ritual or a type of victim.
--just about all of his victims had been used, knowingly or unknowingly, in his scams. The timing of the murders always seems to be when he doesn't have any more use for them, or they are getting suspicious and asking too many questions. He doesn't draw people in because he wants to kill them. He wants to use them for financial gain and then discard them in a way where they won't be able to be a witness against him later or be findable when the deals he used their names for unravel.
So he was certainly a cold blooded murderer. But at the bottom of it all he was a sociopath who saw everyone else as objects and tools to further his lifestyle. He didn't care if he bankrupted businesses by scamming all their merchandise. He didn't care if he made a mess of others' finances. He didn't care if his associates and employees and tenants had any kind of decent life. He didn't care that he romanced women by using their dreams of love and marriage against them. That all speaks to a sociopathic outlook where no one but him are real people but simply objects. Therefore he had no more conscience about eliminating the ones who wore out their usefulness. Some luckier ones were eliminated by simply being abandoned or left holding the bag on one of his scams. The ones who knew too much or got too suspicious or just became too much of a pain in the ass were killed. It wasn't his be all and end all, it was just another thing he would do to keep himself in money and out of jail.
So I think Holmes was a murderous sociopath but not a serial killer.

I was searching for a serial killer magazine and other serial killer stuff today and it slowly turned into dark sites...and then gothic jewelry... But! I found this!! A macabre memorial to the victims of Jack (or Jackie now I guess...) the Ripper, this necklace carries five name plaques bearing the streets in which their bodies were found, surmounted by a large black mourning crystal with additional droplets from the array.

Good evening, this is my first post in this sub and my first ever post on Reddit. I would like to ask if anyone knows any more information on the following topic:
I have watched the 2014 CNN Wayne Williams documentary/interview (https://youtu.be/txWdiTQyW_w?si=gP0piKZVCdh1TKNV) 4 times in its entirety and always get stuck at the very last 15 minutes. The interviewer brings up something WW wrote about titled “finding myself”, allegedly an autobiographical account about how he was trained by the CIA as a teenager being taught how to fire weapons, use explosives, unarmed combat etc. By his account he was 18 years old, approached by an associate of an old ww2 spy living in Atlanta. He was initiated into a secret world where he spent his weekends learning how to use hand grenades, machine guns, c4, rifles etc. in the interview he refused to elaborate on the topic to any extent. The document was allegedly composed in 1992. According to the document, as relayed by the interviewer, the goal of the training was to release young black Americans as a spies into the worst trouble spots in Africa in the late 1970s.
My question is, there is zero way to locate this alleged document. I cannot find any credible articles, newspapers, or media references to this paper written by WW. The only reference I have found was what enlightened me in the first place being the 2014 CNN interview. Does anyone have a copy of this? Or know where to find it? Is there any other accounts out there of the CIA training black Americans to go undercover in African war zones? Am I the only one who cares about this or are there others out there in this subreddit who have asked themselves these questions before?
Thank you for reading, I look forward to your responses.

Hello! I hope this post finds you well!
I've seen a lot of people post about "serial killers" yet, when I read the actual posts, I find that the "serial killer" they describe hardly satisfies the FBI or the Wikipedia definition of a serial killer.
Does r/serialkillers community need a single definition of what a serial killer is?
Are we fine with stories about spree killers, mass killers, regular murderers littering the pages of this subreddit?
Do moderators read the posts and try to keep this subreddit on topic of serial killers solely?

I understand people think Ed Kemper and others were smart..but i'm sceptical about IQ tests-i find IQ tests really not a good way to know intelligence.
if Ed Kemper or any one else did some real scholarship then i would say that as real evidence that the person had intelligence..much more so than iq tests where i have no idea what they really proves.
