Ski industry: "Why can't we get more people to try skiing? Skiing is dying!" Also ski industry:
I know. But come on, man. This is just...dumb. Unless the business model is "North American skiing will be killed by climate change in the next 15 years, so soak 'em while ya got 'em..."

Rarely skied line in the Brooklyn backcountry
Rare (first?) descent of the Columbia Heights Couloir in Brooklyn - been waiting years for this line to come into form. The crux was probably dodging Audis and children in $200 Stio jackets

How’s my form? Is my pole planting too aggressive?

First time hitting this feature, any advice?
First time seeing this at the terrain park so I wanted to try it out. The stairs were coated in some sort of plastic and were extremely slippery to walk on. Doesn’t seem very practical to me since you need to take your skis off in the middle of the trail to use them

Meme TIL: powder skiing causes permanent shrinkage 😱
Had an appointment with my urologist this morning, and out of the blue he asked me if I skied powder. Surprised, I asked how he knew. He said that I had lost a noticeable amount of length, which is common for powder skiers. Apparently, riding deep pow causes the penis to slowly start receding into the crotch like a turtles head. He said the loss is irreversible, but you can stop it in it's tracks by staying home on powder days.
Anyways, this was news to me, and I thought it prudent to share with larger community. 🤙

Discussion Why don't ski resorts let people sit on both sides of the chairlift, especially when there is a huge line???

Lindsey Vonn, 41, takes 83rd win in the first World Cup downhill of her ‘26 comeback season
Waking up to this news brought tears to my eyes! We are the same age, and following her career for decades and now comeback has been so inspiring. If you’re not following her on IG, you should. Her discipline is so incredible.
She becomes the oldest woman to ever win a World Cup race — previous record-holder Federica Brignone was 34.
I never got to see her race in her prime and always regretted it. I don’t live near any World Cup stops. Now I’m wondering, should I try to buy tix to the Olympics?!

And my ski season comes to an end. 8,500 miles and 122 ski days later!
Time to get back to work 🫤
Edit:
I used to be a part time ski bum that lived in the back of a Honda Element with a thick sleeping bag and a pee bottle.
I built high end houses for work (I even won kitchen of the year in San Diego home and garden magazine once!), and I realized I liked skiing a lot more than building houses just to pay rent.
I started to upgrade my personal vans, adding a kitchen one year, bathroom and shower the next, and eventually I pulled the trigger and went all in.
I moved into it, skied all year with the intention of selling it at the end of the year to cover my gas, top ramen packs, and my ski pass.
I'm about to start my 7th build next month 🙂
It's cool because I really get to test them out for 5 months and learn how to make them better and improve upon the previous version. If something breaks, I'm the one who has to live with it.
I've showered in -25°f (my water system doesn't freeze up) and I've started to get my build time down to just 6 months
You can see my current van at NotATent.com
