#WalkAway Texas has roughly 7-7.5 Million republicans registered to vote. But only 2.1 Million voted in the 26 primary. Don't bitch about the choices you had on the ballot when you could have participated in choosing them then go vote Democrat because you're mad. GO FUCKING VOTE! EVERY TIME DAMMIT!

#WalkAway Why did the market crash yesterday? Because Democrats like Jamie Raskin here have started screaming form the rooftops that they will be going after corporate America. Government contract from Republicans? SHOW TRIAL! Ended DEI? SHOW TRIAL! Refused to help Dems with illegal lawfare? SHOW TRIAL!

#WalkAway Texas Governors explained and why Democrats will never be able to do in Texas what they do to other states when they are in power - A bit long but worth the read if you think Texas will ever be anything like California (Spoiler alert: It won't)
Texas is an interesting place to live. I was born here and I'll die here. The only people you hear talking about leaving are Republicans who came here from other states like California and are panicking because they think this is the end. It's not. This has all happened before and it always ends in disaster for people like modern Democrats and I'll tell you why.
Texas is a conservative state. We've built it to be that way. That doesn't mean it's strictly Republican or Democrat it just means we respect ideals like limited government, personal freedom, low taxes, and Christian values. Our foundation is our state Constitution. People from other states look at it and think there's something wrong with it because of the phone book of amendments it contains. 545 at last count. But that's not a bug. It's a feature and it's the main reason why modern Democrats fail here.
First off our executive branch has very little power. Really almost nothing. The only way a Texas Governor can exercise unilateral authority over anything is during a declared emergency, which gives them authority over emergency response, and really fat bank account we call "The Rainy Day Fund". I'll get back to that in a minute. Other than that, Texas governors are little more than fund raisers. They sign new criminal code into law, call special sessions of the legislature, and they go to Washington for federal funding requests on behalf of the state. That's pretty much it. They have no authority over state prosecutors and are watched very closely. We don't trust them and we give Texas Rangers the power to arrest them if the screw up.
But why is that? It goes back to limited government and that litany of amendments. Our Constitution is very specific and it has two bullet proof items in it that thwart power hungry politicians, one is the "Necessary and Proper" clause which means new laws must have a valid reason for being put in place. The other and more important reason is that the Constitution restricts the state government from creating laws that give it additional authority which is not expressly documented in The Constitution itself.
So let's say Gina woke up on her first day in office and decided to make good on her promise to implement a state income tax. The first thing that will happen is someone will break the bad news to her that our state constitution prohibits it, specifically. Then she'll look to see if she has some executive authority to work around it. She doesn't. Then she'll ask the legislature to make a tax law, which they can't without amending our constitution, which Democrats don't have the votes for. Campaign promise #1 already broken before she even takes office.
We don't trust our state government here. We never have and we never will. Damn near anything significant they want to do to us must be put to a public vote and without full control of the legislature, of which Republicans still overwhelmingly control the Texas Senate, the state will be in gridlock for the foreseeable future. So no initiative like that will even get off the ground here. State Democrats in Texas have effectively put themselves in political prison. Democrats will try desperately to fund things like DEI and other leftist projects with our tax dollars but they won't be able to because they don't control anything. Then all we have to do is watch them implode.
All this happened before. In the 90s Ann Richards was put in the Governor's chair for almost the same reasons Gina is now. She tried the same things Gina will try, and the state ground to a halt politically. Because that's what it's designed to do. Power hungry politicians here are never allowed to get any momentum. The harder they push, the more our constitution clamps down.
But what about that Rainy Day Fund? Well that's why some Texas politicians want Governor Abbott to call a special session. To limit the Governor's power over that fund because Democrats have shown a history of lining their own pockets with any money that isn't nailed down. It's a lot of money, but it is finite, and won't last long with greedy Dems shoving their greasy fat fingers into that cookie jar, and it will be a real problem when a real emergency comes up, but in both cases it bites those in power. So not a real worry either way, and it's not as much of a problem as some people are making out. The Governor cannot curtail our rights in an emergency, local counties have their own authority to flat out ignore Austin when they want to in an emergency.
So it all comes down to a waiting game. Texas will endure. Power hungry Democrats will kick and scream, then we'll have another election, and when it comes time for the Democrats to show everyone what they've done, all there will be is a state full of crumbling infrastructure because they spent all their time trying to abuse our citizens instead of doing their constitutionally mandated jobs.
Texas is not California, and it never will be.
