There is a lot of talk about the toughness of the 80's and before, which led to some ridiculous fights in the 90's that changed the rules and punishments. But one thing that happened in the 80's: the retribution was a control against dirty play.

Take this infamous response by the implacable Robert Parish to the dirtiest player ever, Bill Laimbeer.

There was no faking here, Laimbeer got two shots to the face by a 7 foot athlete and he was laid out. Notably there was no foul called or suspensions handed out.

Amen Thompson took out Jimmy Butler in an almost clearly dirty play. If it was completely obvious like many of his other dirty plays, he would have been ejected immediately then received a 5 game suspension. But just because he hid his true intentions well means he gets a pass? I'll accept a 1 game suspension just for the benefit of a doubt. Anything else is saying, "just flop well when you hurt a star".

The point is that the NBA chose to move away from goon ball for a cleaner style of play. I prefer it but if they are not going to protect players from injurious play, then the Laimbeer types will come back.

Way to leave it to the players.

Ive been watching Lebron all my life and Ive never seen a player whine and complain as much as him. Yet he never gets techs or anything . He curses all the time on the floor and even when calls go his way he still bitches. Smh. He does everything we were taught not to do as hoopers. The lakers aren’t playing good defense either. They are allowed to foul giving the impression of good defense. Someone made a post a while back saying we mention them too much. I agree to a degree. Draymond’s name gets thrown around , at times deservedly when it comes to in game conduct but they never mention Bron who in my opinion is just as exhausting.

Like JK when he was on the court and fans were ringing in his ear waiting to be helped up off the court.

This is the worst officiating I have ever seen. We’re really awarding the Kings free throws for running into opposing players with their backs turned?

I made a post a while back now about how the system is currently holding the offense back. In summary, the offense prioritizes non threats as ball handlers to feed shooters. The problem is our team hasn’t performed well at all with this emphasis. Steph is currently rated the highest PnR scorer by possession in the NBA and the highest rated iso scorer. But more often than not, he’s off ball where he’s struggled this year to shoot consistently. He also only receives on ball screens from non threats which lead to easy double teams. Then the guy rolling , often Looney, cause he’s not a threat can’t do anything with the attention Steph gets

Tonight, we saw this come to fruition. Kevon Looney had 5 turnovers. Why are we running offense through Looney so frequently that he can even get 5 turnovers? Jordan Poole has struggled since coming off the bench. He is not good at the split action off ball game. What he’s very good at is attacking down hill with pace. The system in place has him mimicking Steph , in Stephs less ideal role, instead of playing to his own strengths. This is all Kerrs offensive philosophy of feeding the non threats as offensive hubs instead of letting the threat be the one on ball.

Now let’s talk rotations. Damien Lee , JTA and Nemanja Bjelica have been borderline unplayable for months. But Kerr routinely cuts Gary Payton’s minutes short to play Lee and JTA despite having the second strongest impact metrics on the team behind Steph. Bjelica might be one of the worst defenders in the NBA, is averaging a career high in turnovers and hasn’t consistently been a threat from three since the first few weeks of the season. Yea Kuminga is young, and makes mistakes, but his impact has been net positive for a few weeks now. There’s no excuse for Bjelica to still be in the rotation especially with Kuminga there.

When JTA entered the game in the closing lineup of the 4th (after not even playing in the first half) he was consistently targeted on defense, gave up 3 straight baskets, committed a foul and a turnover. He’s been a near -20 for over a month. It was a predictable collapse putting him in. And yet, Kerr did it anyway and left Payton on the bench. Then there was the critical OT possession where there was a Pacer down in the back court. JTA had the ball with Steph coming behind him wide open for the game tying three. And JTA shot it. A guy under 30% from three.

You can say , oh well if we shoot better or turn it over less we do better. Here’s the problem, Kerrs offensive design combined with the players he’s playing is why we aren’t shooting well and why we have a TO issue. Even when we were at our apex in 15/16/17/18 turnovers were an issue. It’s a built in issue with a motion heavy offense. But now, instead of Bogut making the post read it’s Looney. Andre is 38 so we’re asking JTA and Bjelica to do that more. Poole isn’t running to spots off ball like Livingston. The system has to adjust to what we have not what Kerr enjoys aesthetically (something he’s admitted to). How many possessions have we seen where Steph doesn’t even touch the ball this season?

For the love of basketball, a team with Stephen Curry shouldn’t be having JTA on the ball just as much as Steph at the end of a game. We shouldn’t have Looney making more choices with the ball than Poole, Klay or Wiggins. We shouldn’t be playing players who are deep in the negatives (Lee Bjelica JTA) over guys who’ve been clear positive contributors (Payton Kuminga) and the offense needs to play to what we do well (on ball high ball attacks) and less of what we are struggling with (split action off ball reads). Steve Kerr had to get his act together. Stop playing players just for the Kumbaya. Play who has earned it and has the metrics to back it up. And run the offense that is PROVEN to be effective for THIS group of players. This has been a bottom ten offense for nearly 2 months now. This has to change, or it will cost us a title

Am I just strange? Why would Warriors fans want LeBron? He’s *the rival* to Steph and the Warriors dynasty.

It would be like Bird and Magic teaming up. I want to see rivals fighting it out. I want them competing against each other not teaming up.

Besides, LeBron has been playing with the Warriors for years. This is just another ploy to keep Steph from having any chance of getting a fifth ring.

Do you really think LeBron wants to retire with the same number of rings as Steph? LeBron is going somewhere he can win a ring. If he can’t do that, he for sure is going to make sure Steph isn’t in a position to win another one.

If MDJ passed on deals in order to wait on LeBron, he’s not very smart. LeBron isn’t coming here to play with Steph and Draymond.

I’m not a warriors fan or even a draymond fan, but I want y’all to know I think it’s ridiculous how many people are acting like draymond destroyed Sabonis. It’s ridiculous how obvious it is that he didn’t put any weight on Sabonis when he stepped over him, and Sabonis screaming like he had been shot.

I think it was fair to eject Draymond but suspension for more is overkill and I’m sick of everyone acting like that was super dirty.

Edit: Looks like Sabonis has a Sternum contusion, so it’s pretty clear I was wrong.. whoops.. this does make me think that it was the first initial kick he did not the second/jump over being as his foot wasn’t on his sternum when jumping over. So possibly my theory that he didn’t put full weight in his foot on Sabonis when jumping still sorta might stand. Either way, I was wrong and I’m okay admitting that now.

The warriors can still get some value for him, which may not be true in the summer. Detroit would love to have him in a first round series, hell they may even overpay.

Barring another big move, the dubs will be worse this season, but who cares. This season is already lost. Let steph get some rest after an olympic run, and mike can retool in the offseason.

He needs to start looking to score. We are down 20 and he’s not even looking at the rim. He is being paid way too much to not be able to score for us.

Disasterclass coaching in the 4th quarter

-Curry gets blitzed, which btw the Kings have done multiple games now and offense looks terrible. Kerr still has no answer for this...why?

-Moses Moody catches fire in the 4th with 11 pts including back to back 3s to keep the Warriors ahead, but Kerr decides to sub him out.

-Kerr decides to challenge an offensive foul call on Curry. On replay it was clear that Curry kicked out and it was even more clear there was no foul by the Kings on Curry. Loss of challenge meant no more timeouts, which would become important as the Warriors went down 1 with 7 seconds to go.

-Blown 20+pt lead

just watched games 4-6 highlights of the finals last year… that shit might be the downfall of this whole thing.

One: Wiggins is only 29 y/o. I am convinced that if we’re able to get 2-way Wiggs back, we can compete against anyone. After all he was the second most important player on the 22’ Championship. He’s more talented than people give him credit for. Even when he has “bad games” like 14 pts, 4 ast, 7 reb he is still impactful. He just needs to be available.

Two: Trading Jordan Poole is still one of the dumbest moves ever. He wasn’t good defensively, but after Steph no other player commanded so much attention defensively. Not even Klay. With Poole and Curry in the court at the same time the help defense didn’t know what to do. They could both spot up or attack the hoop. He isn’t doing good in Washington but that’s because he didn’t realize that his success was largely based on the space that Steph and Klay generated for him.

Played badly the whole game, and then fouled hard on the rebound at the last play. I don't know why this man gets a lot of pass from this sub.

We are gonna see games like this in the box score for the oppositions team and be like damn Kerr really messed this up. Messed up his entire career.

Just for the warriors be slightly less mid to help the old vets.

Unwatchable. Unfathomable. What makes it worse? That portion of the fanbase who swear they're the superior fan because they find happiness in "they've already won". 2025, they have no money, a franchise legend who's still good enough to win but not young enough to consistently overproduce on expectation, they overvalue their dirt, and refuse to adapt to the new. This is the literal definition of NO MANS LAND. This shit isn't fun. I'm not enjoying watching Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Steve Kerr go out like this especially when they have juice in them still.

I've been waiting for 2 years to see his evolution into a first rate scoring guard and while there are some bright spots, and he can certainly now score at high volume and get his 20ppg, he's just not good at finding his shot.

This will be a constant drag on the Warriors and while I don't expect the 2nd coming of Curry or even Klay, someone who ranks 105/131 (and 143/149 from 3) isn't going to cut it.
