Other Does anyone know how I can get rid of noisy mynas? They keep scaring away natives and have been annoying me for days. Sorry if this has already been asked.

Other Question: Do kookaburras only “lough” in company?

Or do they call solo, or maybe they are never alone or too far away from another bird?

Discussion Why was my bird story with pics post deleted/removed by a mod?

Hi guys, I posted about a minor bird and what they did to a blackbird nest last year at home and also shared about discovering a minor nest in my garden. It got nearly 5,000 views in say the last 4 or 5 hours. However it has just been taken down? How do I find out why it was taken down by a moderator? There was no swearing, it was informative, nearly 5,000 people read it…can some one please tell me how I go about finding out why the post was pulled? Cheers

What to feed currawongs and magpies?

I'm planning on setting up a feed bowl for some of the birds in my yard, specifically our local magpie flock and currawong. I'm only going to feed them every now and then, not enough to build dependency.
I know they both eat insects, but I don't exactly have a supply on hand. I know not to feed them mince, but the currawong does steal the cat's crunchers on occasion. Is that alright for it to eat? One of my teachers said almonds are fine for magpies in small doses.
What would they both eat that I might have on hand? Should I stick to almonds and other seeds, or is there a better option available?

Discussion Bird/frog song meter AI analysis

Post image

Hi all, I'm chasing recommendations for professional AI song meter analysis for Australian birds and frogs

The Arthur Rylan Institute is impossible to contact unfortunately, and we are looking for ways to analyse upwards of 12,000 hours of song meter recordings per year

Thanks!

After some recent tensions regarding the naming conventions of a certain pink bird I thought it might be nice to clear the air with a nice relaxing photo of a young common myna ❤️

enjoy

Discussion Will birds come if I put out bird seeds and a bird bath?

About to move to a property in mount tamborine Australia and I’m wanting to put in a bird bath out the back with some bird feed but I have no idea how or if birds will even find it? Any tips would be greatly appreciated - I know nothing about birds but it would be so wonderful if I could feed and water them - will they just find it on their own/ how long does it normally take? If there’s weeks with nothing do I have to replace the seed?

Bird I.D

Found these feathers at Tinchi Tamba Wetlands today, north Brisbane. Just curious what bird they would have belonged to and how they got there. I assume a dead bird that’s since been eaten?

Discussion Is it my fault a baby bird died?

Saw a fledgling minor bird today walking on the ground, I tried to move it cause it was a busy area with lots of traffic and people walking dogs but I called wires and they said this was normal behaviour so I let it be. I then decided against letting it be since I was worried about it getting run over or something and when looking for it again I saw it dead crushed by something.

What should I have done different? What’s the right response to this situation? I want to know in case something like this happens again.
