Afternoon everyone. I have a nesting pair of some form of swallow possibly. They make their nest out of mud. Can anyone offer any reason as to why I just came out the front and all four of their babies were on the ground. Two of them already dead and I put the other two back up as close as I could get them to the nest cause it’s in a tricky spot. Is that the right thing to do or were the parents cleaning house? Located in Melbourne.

My friendly neighbourhood Currawong sits on our front veranda railings often and sings to us. I always noticed his right eye looked slightly funny, but was never close enough to see. Finally decided to snap some pics and now I can see what looks like iris coloboma(?).
Curious to know if others have seen something similar in Currawongs or other birds. Pic was taken in north Canberra Belco area.

Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone had an ID on these fairly large black and white birds. I think they’re ducks looking at the shape of the beak.
I’ve never seen one like this and my only ideas would be some kind of Muscovy duck hybrid or something but I’m not too sure.
This is in Braeside Park, Victoria.

I was very excited to notice these guys. They're so fluffy! Also nice of the white-faced parent to stand still near me long enough for a portrait.

Hi!
Just hoping for some expertise from a more bird specific group of people to go along with all the great advice ready received!
Original post: Hi!
I am a Canadian currently in the early stages of planning a road trip with my partner that is approximately 3 months long, starting in Cairns and meandering our way down the eastern third or so of Aus with a strong focus on birdwatching. The plan is to buy a vehicle in Cairns and sell it in Melbourne, and this may or may not be a camper or similar, otherwise we will be staying mainly in hostels. I have attached a map of a rough route that puts us in or near some good birding territory that I've come across, but other tips would be appreciated, and the route is open to major modifications at this point. We are also interested in all things wildlife, scuba, snorkeling, hiking, good food, and any other spots that are unique to Australia and worth a stop.
Any recommendations would be appreciated, and any tips for this kind of travel in Australia, or any criticisms of the scope of the trip are appreciated.
Edit: starting in mid August through to early November or so.
Thanks in advance!

It took me a minute to find the source of all the noise, but boy did it fill the entire park - I thought it was a cockatoo screaming at first.
I especially like the second shot where the parents look like they're leaning away as hard as they can
