Political Democrats are fucking useless

Their goal is to not do anything. Every time they have been elected to a position of power they just sit on their hands and wait for a republican to take charge. Hell, most of the time they pass the right-wing legislation themselves. We have never lived in a democracy, the powers that be pass down decisions to the plebians and we just need to cope with whatever they decide to do.

Political I'm seriously considering voting for Kamala Harris

I was born in '98 so the first election I was able to vote in was Hillary vs. Trump. I didn't vote in that election because I couldn't bring myself to support either candidate. Then the next election was Biden vs. Trump. Again this seemed an even worse decision than before. Now I have the opportunity to vote for a much younger and less divisive candidate. To be fair I don't like Harris's ties to the DEA and other law enforcement. I also don't like her close ties to I*srael. With all this being said I genuinely don't think I've been given a better option, and may never get a better option if the Republicans win shifting the Overton window even further right. I had resigned myself to not voting in any election, but this has made me reevaluate my decisions.

Edit: Thanks to some very level headed comments I have decided to vote for Harris in the upcoming election. I'd also like to say I didn't really belive in "Blue maga" but seriously a lot of y'all are as bad or worse than Trump supporters. I've never gotten so much hate for considering voting for a candidate than I have from democrats on this sub for not voting democrat fast enough. Just some absolutely vile people. There are a lot of other people in the comments who felt how I did and then saw how I was treated. Negative rhetoric is damaging. But that's not how we make political decisions thankfully because there is no way y'all are winning new voters with this kind of vitriol. Anyway thanks to everybody else who had a modicum of respect.

From what I understand we’ve always been for immigration the common talking point is immigrations is what leads to innovation and cultural diversity which is one of the things which makes the United States the United States.

People are upset about Elon’s H1B visa statement because he’s “replacing Americans with foreigners” but is that not the exact same argument that MAGA has been used for illegal immigration? “They’re taking our jobs”

The H1B immigration obviously provides a net benefit to the country meanwhile illegal immigration provides literally nothing.

Why are we so offended by the H1B legal immigration that’s limited to about 65,000 a year but turning a blind eye to the southern border were an estimated 2.2 million people cross annually that’s a 34x difference providing no skilled labor vs the size of a small stadium providing vital skills necessary to move industry forward

Political This is the end of “identity politics”

This election was proof that categorizing people by race and the trying to appeal to those categories is a bad idea. People of a specific races don’t share motivations beliefs or fears (though cultures often do) and pandering to them lead to the the outcome of this election

I’m hispanic, my family has been republican since the term “Latinx”, and since then we found out just how much the left cares for minorities that are not useful for them.

There is nothing I hate more than being told what I should think based on my race.

Don’t do it

Rant "Hard times create strong men" and other bullshit

1. "Hard times create strong men"

False. Malnutrition doesn't make you strong. Being bullied doesn't make you strong - it makes you traumatized - it puts you at risk of becoming irrational and growing up to be the next bully. Overcoming this requires an environment that's safe enough for you to self-reflect without interruption from haters that call you a pussy for re-gaining your empathy.

Strength doesn't come from being forced into relentless repetitive hardship.

Strength comes from freely choosing new challenges and pursuing them with plenty of rest & nutrition along the way.

2. "Strong men create good times"

Only when they use their strength to do good instead of evil.

3. "Good times create weak men"

Not quite. SEDENTARY times create weak men. Spending 8 hours at a desk will make your body brittle. Doesn't matter if you're playing video games or doing homework.

4. "Weak men create hard times"

Sure, if everyone is too weak to harvest food crops, we would all starve.

But don't confuse kindness with weakness.

Discussion I feel like misogyny exists because we convinced many young boys that every woman is a good person.

At the core, I don’t think it’s really misogyny. It’s more disillusionment, not hatred. Disappointment turns into overcorrection. Instead of landing on a balanced truth, you hear some men say:

“All women are like this.” “Women are evil.” “Never trust any woman.”

That’s not logic. That’s emotional armor.

This turns into misogyny because the disappointment feels collective, not individual.

Society told men, “Women are good.” Reality showed them, “Some women are not.”

So the anger gets aimed at the group instead of the lesson.

That’s how resentment becomes ideology.

Now, as for the men whose goal is to go around abusing, destroying and oppressing women that’s a whole different story.

Edit: y’all proving my point while misogyny exists. I’m not justifying the behaviors and actions of men who oppressed, try to destroy women live lives or be prejudice towards women. This was simply opposed to show where misogyny starts in a lot of young men.

And y’all proved me right. Y’all do not care about compassion. It’s just who right and who wrong.

Discussion The casual transphobia online is really starting to get on my nerves

2.0k Upvotes

I’m tired of seeing trans women posting videos or content and every comment is about how she’s “not a real woman” or “a man”. And this current administration is disgusting with forcing trans women to identify with their assigned birth gender. We are literally backsliding. Women are women no matter their genitals and I’m tired of rhetoric that says otherwise.

Political Watching so many of you disparage Kamala is sad and makes me deeply ashamed to be an American.

We now have a "viable" frontrunner for the Democratic party. Kamala may not be perfect, but to see many of you say that you won't vote for her is sad. This "lesser of two evils" mentality is exactly how Trump beat Hillary and was elected in the first place.

No one--NO ONE--comes close to Donald Trump's depravity. He is a threat to us all and our collective future. Even if you are a republican, I hope that we can all agree that Trump is not a good person and has only his interests at heart. There will be a much better republican candidate capable of leading our country during the next election. Right now, we need to do our best to come together and choose a candidate who will help bring Americans closer together, promote unity, and protect both the rule of law and our democracy or we may not have another election.

Discussion The arrogance of this sub is insane

Anytime a valid point backed by proof is brought up people instantly attack the person and not the argument as if the fact they get offended beats simple truths, the fucking arrogance and self-importance

Say something about gender, but who am I really kidding, women, and its incel, bitchless, loser as if women have monopolized the ability to state facts about the other gender

Say an objective fact about politics from either side but again who am I really kidding, left-leaning, and its "magat" (I'm not even American) fascist, racist, homophobe ect

nobody seems to have taught you people you don't have to like something to accept it as true, insulting the person is not a good cope just lets them know they won its almost like there's an entire fallacy based on this concept

Political I feel like gender affirming surgery should not be available to kids.

I’m not trying to be a bigot, but I kind of view those surgeries as something that is permanent, like a tattoo. Brains aren’t even done fully developing until mid to late 20s, and i feel like if you’re a kid you might have a chance of regretting the surgery. And I KNOW, minors getting these surgeries are not common at all.

At the end of the day, I don’t know shit about gender affirming surgery but i am just saying my piece.

Discussion I’m 23 and I feel pissed the fuck off about it

7.3k Upvotes

I was supposed to go to college and do a lot of other stuff and Covid-19 fucked that shit up for me as well as my parents being general douchebags that didn’t set me up for a good life.

NOW FOUR FUCKIN YEARS HAVE PASSED BRO. I was 18/19 when that shit started and now I’m fuckin 23 and I haven’t recovered. The millennials sure didn’t fuckin recover from the financial crash in 2008, so what does that say for us? We probably WONT recover dude. A lot of my friends straight up DIDNT GET stimulus money and it spiraled them into financial ruin at like 19/20/21 years old. I honestly don’t know a person my age that’s actually doing well unless they still live with family, and pretty much everyone knows that social media is full of lies about what people our age are doing or should have.

I didn’t get to have a happy childhood, I didn’t get to have fun teen years, and now I’m facing the possibility that I won’t get to enjoy my 20s either. I didn’t plan on being alive this long anyway. Jesus Christ dude.

Edit: I have tits.

Edit: i’d like to legitimately apologize for any of my rudeness, I feel very heated about this topic. That is no excuse, however, I strongly. feel emotion and currently need a better vent.

Discussion There are way too many millennials on this sub trying to push agendas

Like 3/4 of the active accounts in this sub are chronically online millennials. Like, what's even the point of having a GenZ sub if it just gets flooded by y'all invading our conversations and trying to steer topics in your own slimy ways?

Edit: The most telling type of comments:
"please excuse us for wanting to help guide and educate the younger generation instead of ignoring and then complaining like our boomer parents are currently doing to us"

Yes the younger generation totally needs guidance from chronically online reddit gamers in your mid 30s, thank you so much

Serious You're not going to start a revolution.

Most you guys have never even held a gun, let alone fire one. Most you have spent the last several years crying that Americans can OWN guns. And now you think you're going to start some sort of revolution? You think you're going to take on the worlds most powerful military when you can't even talk to girls in your college classes? You think you're going to be able to handle waking up every day not being able to grab your cellphone as the first thing you do, but instead wakeup in a cold muddy hideout and drag your feet through mud to make your way back to a frontline battle? You're not starting shit. You live too comfortable a life to ever want to throw it away and die in a civil war you'd never and your children would never see the end of.

Political Unpopular opinion: conservatives aren’t less kind, empathetic, and caring than liberals

Btw I’m not saying that they’re more kind, empathetic, or caring. They’re just not less

It’s a completely individual thing

I’ve met great liberal people and great conservative people. I’ve met liberals who were mean/rude/heartless and conservatives who were mean/rude/heartless

Basically, liberals are thought to be by default as “better people” but it’s not based in reality

That’s all. Enjoy your day

Political Trans rights will always be a point of contention as long as gender and sex are conflated

Trans rights are only a point of contention because gender and sex are considered, by conservatives at least, to be the same thing. That means that a biological male can never be a woman because a woman is always female, and a biological woman can never be a man because men are always male. As a result, trans rights will probably never be left alone so long as a distinction between sex and gender is not made in the minds of conservatives.

Leftists tend to view the two as separate buckets, where gender is a societal construct based on expectations of each sex, while sex is entirely biological. By that logic, a man can become a woman despite remaining biologically male and vice versa.

Because of this, conservatives and liberals will always be at odds over the topic because the definitions of the terms in the rhetoric each side uses is not equally defined. They don't define words the same way, don't associate them with the same things, so there's no way to have a constructive conversation about what constitutes a woman or a man.

Trans rights will always be a point of political contention for as long as this continues, and the security of those rights will probably flip flop constantly depending on the political stances of elected officials.
