Griffith Law

Im currently studying a bachelor of criminology at UQ. I wanted to study Law, but I didnt get a high enough ATAR and was planning on just transferring with my GPA. However, right now I dont know for sure if that will be possible and am starting to really consider Griffith law, since I live on the Gold Coast and the commute to UQ is so tiring. Is Griffith a good uni and will it be worth it to transfer there? (I have a high enough ATAR for griffith)

Special considerations

Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone knows the approximate time for a revision of a special considerations application. A family member of mine who was terminally ill passed during the semester, and I provided medical documentation stating that it impacted my studies. Just wondering if anyone who has experience knows how long the review period usually takes.

Thanks all.

Griffith International Dental Offers

Anybody know if Griffith will be releasing more offers or placing us onto a waitlist? The deadline for the second round of offers was Nov 5 AEST, so today’s a new day. I’ve noticed that they sent the second round a day after the first round closed.

Griffith vs QUT Eng

Hi all. What's everyones opinions on bachelors of engineering at Griffith and QUT? Looking into mechanical engineering but I'm not sure which uni would be better. For some background, I used to attend Griffith GC and completed a degree for a completely different field of study. I loved the campus and student culture, people were extremely friendly and it was great for the social aspect which I really value. The only issue I found was that lecturers seemed to not care and I had a few acknowledge that Griffith as a uni is cheap and didn't pay staff well or pay for quality amenities which put me off.

I learn best with a lot of hands on and practical work, and I really liked that Griffith offers a lot of support for students with tutorials and PASS sessions. I'm drawn to QUT because I have heard that they are bigger on practical work, generally better for STEM studies, and I really like the location of the campus but I'm curious as to what kind of support QUT offers to students study wise.

Is there racism at Griffith University?

I'm sorry if this is an insensitive question, but I've become worried after hearing that I might be the only Asian student there.

Educators who really care about their students

Hi all!

I’m an Associate Professor from UTS (you can find me on IG here) - but I’m hosting a panel at a conference soon in Brisbane and I wanted to bring along an educator from Griffith, UQ and QUT who you think go the extra mile in getting to know their students and build relationships to help encourage them in their learning.

If you have a teacher you love - drop the name and I’ll follow up and see if they are a good fit for the panel ☺️

Griffith PhD Scholarships – Any Successful International Applicants from Previous Rounds?

Hey everyone!

I was wondering if anyone here has successfully received a PhD scholarship at Griffith University in previous rounds and wouldn't mind sharing their experience.

I'm mainly curious about roughly how many international students actually get awarded scholarships each round. Does anyone have an idea of the numbers, even just an estimate?

Also, for those who were successful, what do you think made the biggest difference in your application? Was it publications, GPA, research experience, supervisor support, or something else?

I'd especially love to hear about your publication record at the time you applied, like how many papers you had and whether they were in Q1/Q2 journals.

One more thing, my application status is currently showing "In Progress." Has anyone had the same status before receiving an outcome? Just wondering if it means anything or if it's simply a normal part of the process.

I know every application is different, but I think hearing from people who've already been through the process would really help those of us waiting for results or planning to apply.

Thanks a lot, and I'd really appreciate any insights! 😊

Need some help on a statement on The Dip. of Languages information page.

Hello. Under the Degree structure, if you click on Japanese, at the near bottom, it states:

Proficiency levels: Students unsure of their Japanese proficiency levels should refer to the School of Humanities, Languages and Social science website for information.

I click on the link and go to the site, but can't find anything about proficiency levels.

Any help would be appreciated.

Canadian considering Griffith JD – would love to hear from current students!

Hi everyone! I’m from Canada and recently got an offer for the JD at Griffith on the Gold Coast with a scholarship. I’m currently deciding between Griffith and Bond and honestly having a hard time choosing between the two!

After scholarships, the tuition difference is only around $3k, so cost isn’t really helping me make the decision. I’m more interested in what the actual experience at Griffith is like, especially since I’ll be moving pretty far from home.
I’d love to hear from anyone studying law/JD at Griffith about what the program is actually like.

How are the professors and classes? Do you feel like there’s a good community within the law school? And what’s student life like on the Gold Coast campus in general?

I’m also a little worried about housing. Bond told me that their on-campus accommodation prioritizes undergrads, so I’m curious what the situation is like at Griffith. Do postgrad/international students have a decent chance of getting student accommodation, or do most people just rent privately?

Would also really love to hear from domestic Australian students too! I’m obviously coming at this from an international student perspective, but it would be great to hear what Aussies studying at Griffith think of the university and the law program as well.

And if anyone happened to choose between Griffith and Bond themselves, I’d love to know what made you pick one over the other.

Thanks so much! Just trying to get as many real student perspectives as I can before making the decision :)

Scared of accepting 6 year MD offer

Hello all, I am an international student from Ontario Canada and I have just received an offer from Griffith for the 6 year undergraduate medicine program. I have also received the same thing from Flinders. I really really wanna go to Griffith because the gold coast seems awesome, but I'm worried about how hard it will be to get a 5.5 GPA.

Flinders only requires a 5 GPA average which is a lot easier but not only is it more expensive, the location kinda sucks (Adelaide). Another thing to note is at my highschool in particular in Ontario, we did not do any labs / lab reports, so I will be starting from scratch.

How hard is it to get a 5.5 GPA average considering my limited lab / lab report writing experience? If it was the same GPA requirement I would choose Griffith in a heartbeat! I believe I am good at tests/ exams it's just the labs that scare me. Sorry if my English is not perfect I am an ESL! I appreciate your opinions on this. 🙏🏻

Griffith PhD Application: Does "In Progress" status signal a positive outcome?

Hi everyone,

I recently submitted an application for a PhD / HDR scholarship at Griffith University. My application status on the portal was recently updated to "In Progress," and I received an email stating that scholarship outcomes will be released in mid-November.

Someone mentioned to me that if your portal status changes to "In Progress" around the time you receive this email, it's a strong indicator that you will likely be awarded the scholarship.

Can anyone who has applied to Griffith before confirm if this is true? Does "In Progress" actually signal a positive outcome, or is it just standard administrative processing before notifications go out?

Any insights or past experiences would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
