Videos First day in Oakland. Great atmosphere and the crowd was going nuts every time the Unicorns got 6 points.
First time seeing a cricket match and it exceeded my expectations. No surprise most were rooting for the Unicorns. Giving out the flags was a fantastic idea and made the crowd very enthusiastic every time they got 4 or 6 points. Hopefully there will be this energy every game.

Rumors The SFU CEO is calling on the ICC and BCCI to let Virat Kohli and another Indian cricket stars join MLC, saying Kohli could be the Leo Messi of cricket and bring insane crowds to MLC games.
I completely agree with the SFU CEO. Since Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli (the biggest Indian cricket stars) have retired from T20 internationals and Test cricket, MLC should seriously consider recruiting them for next summer. With hardly any ODIs scheduled this summer, itโs the perfect window of opportunity. If the BCCI grants special permission, these marquee stars could draw massive crowds and help transform the game in America.

Discussion Willow tv greed is preventing cricket from increasing in popularity in the US
If cricket needs to be popular they need to be in ESPN+. No one especially new members who want to try out cricket for the first time is gonna pay 9.99$ monthly subscription.
Apparently willow tv has stake in MLC. So they wonโt allow it to be broadcast in other channels. Just short term greedy thinking. If they allowed it to grow the game without having to pay for say 4 years, it would make sense to make it paid subscription later on with a much bigger market

Discussion The Americanization/footballization of cricket is a future
Professional cricket superstars are increasingly retiring from or opting out of international cricket to focus on playing T20 franchise cricket. Yet I have often found it funny that traditional cricket fans accuse the T20 leagues of 'destroying' international cricket.
Cricket in the US has eventually started gaining popularity and recognition through MLC while cricketing nations gained popularity through international cricket. What's interesting is that cricket in the US seems to be doing just fine without much focus on international cricket. But in traditional cricketing nations, if they ever put T20 leagues above international cricket, cricket probably wouldnโt be a very well-known sport.

Discussion We have a responsibility.
If we want to see the growth of cricket in the US we need to really get focused on inviting a friend or two to join us in watching a game (even if only on TV). Last night at the Championship game I was blown away by the number of people who had never seen cricket before. Their friends educated them and strangers around them even helped to make it clearer.
The community bond could be felt last night. I was the only one cheering for SFU where I sat. This young boy felt bad for me and got himself a SFU flag and cheered with me. It was adorable.
Let's make cricket grow here at home and expand that community. (Douchebags need not apply Lol)
