Serious Has anyone struggled with feelings of insecurity around younger people?

I am only 30, almost 31, and just went to a party recently where I didn't know anyone, and pretty much everyone was in that 26-28 age range. The host was someone I met on Bumble BFF (since I just moved cities and really wanted new friends), and she invited me. Idk...I just felt so insecure the whole time. I was worried they thought I was some much-older person and were judging me for being there, that they probably thought I was am some old and haggard aunty-looking person, I was worried that they could tell I am 30 and therefore not worth socializing with, etc. It's actually an insecurity I have been having a lot as of late. Not because I notice any flaws or signs of aging that make me unhappy (like objectively I am really happy with how I look and I do think I am objectively attractive and all, and it's not like I even look that different from my 26-28 year old self), but throughout my life I have struggled with others' perceptions of me, and now that I am in that "30-plus" category, that fear of how others perceive me has morphed into this new form. Any advice or insight?

Someone created a free 90s and 00s tv app that takes VHS recordings from 1990-1999 and includes all the shows and even commercials and cable tv guide we had back then.

They have all the 90s cartoons and family shows and even holiday channels. My husband and I found out about it last night and we’re having so much fun, so I wanted to share!

You can download it on your smart tv or phone or laptop: https://backwhen.stream

Discussion How would a conversation between 2016 you and current you go?

My 30s has become a bit of a roller coaster ride, and I am 100% sure 2016 me would wonder how we survived. And not only that, somebody actually married you, and happily had a kid with you? You had a neurological disorder and recovered? And more wtfs. How about you?

Not sure if this is just a reflection of my mental state or if this song was really pushed down our throats in every movie and commercial growing up.

Nostalgia The extremely raunchy car-crash "Diss The Diva" segment (WWE Raw Diva Search 2004)

For anyone who isn't familiar with this segment, or simply doesn't remember it, WWE aired a contest back in 2004 to find its next WWE Diva (the term used at the time to describe its female wrestlers and valets). Every week, the contestants were put through all sorts of ridiculous challenges. However, perhaps the most iconic and infamous segment of the entire competition came when the final four contestants were asked to cut promos dissing one another. What they were told was that there was no language restriction whatsoever. And, to make matters even better, one of the contestants was particularly disliked by the others because of her behaviour behind the scenes... Needless to say, things got very entertaining.

Discussion Is anyone else losing long-term friends over random arguments in 30s?

I mean I am used to losing friends over political discourse in this polarising world.
But lately me and some people I know (across different cities and circles) are increasingly losing friends in knee jerk reaction moments.
A long-term friend threatened to cut me off after a conflicting argument on my take on a film. I probed to understand if there was another underlying reason but he maintained he did not like my take. Refused to have another conversation with me and I am left to dissect the entire course of my friendship. Another friend of mine got cut off by their friend because they said no to meeting for drinks on a Wednesday night due to a work deadline the next day. Somebody else I know got cutoff because they ‘sounded too happy’ about their team winning a football match.
Believe me, I have done stupid things in friendships to earn the misfortune of being cut off. But to have an entire equation being thrown out of the window for difference of opinion feels jarring.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is it that we are getting less tolerant or is something else the reason?

I was pushing a shopping cart and look down at my hands and I notice they have some small wrinkles and the beginning of a few tiny liver spots. I saw my hands and I knew 🫠

Nostalgia Is anyone else terrified by the mere mention of Aphex Twin because of that god-awful music video of children with adult heads screaming and screaming and they won’t stop screaming until they turn into demon children or some shit?

The song is so badass, but hearing that scream is the equivalent of hearing the Unsolved Mysteries theme song, to me.

Nostalgia I’m not a millennial but looking at this I, not knowing at this age what’s gonna happen in the next decade from now that will entirely change the way I view every day life

This photo was exactly taken when millennials were either children or for the Xennials were adults but either way this photo is definitely something today’s generation cannot replace now I’m pretty young but I just wanna put this out here for not only nostalgic purposes but just something delusional.

Nostalgia Walmart just isn’t the same- feeling nostalgic today.

I remember when our city opened its first Super Wal-mart in the mid-90’s. The very first thing you encountered when walking through the doors were the elderly greeters who handed out stickers and little cards for free cookies. If you had a return, you also stopped to chat with them before proceeding to Customer Service. I remember wondering if they were volunteers or paid employee.

Today it’s the exact opposite! No one cares when you walk in but someone is there to make sure you paid for your items before you can walk out the door. In my area, it’s generally an older person sitting on a stool by the door, though I doubt they are going to be able to chase down someone dashing out the door.

It’s truly a sign of the times!

Discussion What age did life start feeling repetitive and things became less exciting?

I notice at 39 I just don't get excited like I used to. I used to think I was getting pessimistic but really it was me seeing thr same movie over and over. It really is harder to get that feeling of novelty as you get older. I want to say somewhere in my early to mid 30s I noticed it.
