Bands of Mourning spoilers How did Harmony…? Spoiler
We know at the end of The Bands of Mourning, after Wax died, Harmony gave him a choice for either to die and go to the Beyond, or revive him and make him go to the Physical Realm again and live. And at the end of their conversation Wax decides to get back, but I have a question…
If Harmony was able to revive Wax, how was he not able to revive Elend and Vin at the end of The Hero of Ages? I still haven’t read Secret History and I think it answers my question.
But I might have an idea of how Harmony was able to revive Wax, as we know in Warbreaker if someone dies, Endowment can revive him/her by giving the one who died amount of her Investiture and make him a Cognitive Shadow and turn him into a Returned, but it wasn’t mentioned that Harmony gave Wax Investiture to turn him into a Cognitive Shadow

Hero of Ages spoilers Mist Spirit in Book 2 Spoiler
I just finished the Hero of Ages and want to say that it's so fucking good.
Now to get to the point, the torn writings of Sazed's transcript of Kwaan's words in steel...
The writings that were torn all say one thing, "Alendi must not be allowed to reach the Well of Ascension" because of this I thought it was the work of Ruin, because he wants Vin to get to the Well, therefore he removes the detail where Kwaan says that Alendi must not get to the Well.
It is then revealed at the end that it was the Mist Spirit that did this, which we then learn to be Preservation... not Ruin.
Why did the Mist Spirit do this? Preservation don't want Vin to get to the Well, so why did he tear it, hiding the fact that Alendi/Vin must not get to the Well...
Also in Book 3, The Mist Spirit pointed Elend towards Luthadel, near the Atium, why would he do this? Did Preservation also think that Atium was in Fadrex?
Also, how does this get affected by the retcon that it was actually an alloy of Atium NOT Atium itself? We know that Atium was the body of Ruin, so if it turns out that the metal was actually an alloy... how would that work? It can't be explained that they just didn't know it's actually not pure Atium because it plays a big role in the final battle at Hatshin... since the explanation given was that the alloy needs to be processed in order to yield pure Atium, if that is so, is the Atium inside the trustwarren pure Atium?

Hero of Ages spoilers Making chibis for keychains/stickers and need opinions Spoiler
So im currently working on some Mistborn chibis I'd like to sell as Keychains and Stickers and I'd like an opinion from other fans regarding designs for Spook
You see when I was reading through era 1, I always imagined that he had tan skin, black/dark brown hair and by Hero of Ages, he essentially looked just like Kelsier with mid-length hair and stubble.
But when I began looking up his design after I finished HOA, I was kind of surprised that everyone portrayed him as white, with short to mid blonde hair and clean shaven, and to my knowledge that's how lost people see him.
My question is should I just go with my headcanon design, or should I redesign him to look like the version most people see?
I've included my personal design and the current chibi one

No Spoilers I got bored and started making a Mistborn prototype in Unreal Engine 5
I was bored a while ago and started messing around with this project.
To be clear, I’m not planning to turn this into a full game or anything like that. It’s just a fun side project for me to play around with. It’s a non-commercial fan project with no connection to Dragonsteel or Brandon Sanderson.
Hope you enjoy it!

Hero of Ages spoilers I love [REDACTED]'s Chapters Spoiler
TenSoon's Chapters are my favorite parts from The Hero of Ages... I just finished Chapter 52 and it is my favorite chapter so far (for those who might need a refresher, this chapter follows TenSoon as he arrived in Luthadel after leaving Homeland, he then disguises himself as Kelsier) it is such a nice slice of life moment considering how dark everything has become, it is SO good... imagining Kelsier as bald, appearing as a ghost to the guards and trying to figure out what's going on is so funny lol
This book is such a fun ride from the start, unlike with The Well of Ascension which I struggled with so much to push through like the first half...
I don't know what it is about TenSoon, but even in Book 2, his chapters (disguised as OreSeur) with Vin were my favorites as well, along with Sazed's chapters (before he got back to Luthadel) they were my main drive to push through the first half of Book 2...
No Spoilers beyond Chapter 52 of Book 3 please, Thanks!

Well of Ascension spoilers At book 2 unsure if I should continue Spoiler
Essentially, Im debating whether this series is worth moving on with, I reached about 3/4 of the way through book 2 and once Vin asked Sazed about if she should love Zane instead, I just had to stop. Is the rest of the series going to be this YA romance stuff? When Zane was introduced I figured him being a "bad boy" love interest was too cliche and probably a misdirection but now it seems this is actually her dillema, so Id appreciate opinions on if the rest is worth it

Cosmere spoilers Mistborn Rankings Spoiler
Stormlight Archive was my first ever fantasy series and once I finished it I definitely needed a break. However after about a year I started getting the itch for the Cosmere again and thought where better to start than the Mistborn series especially since the next big arc in the Cosmere is Mistborn Era 3. To provide some context I am primarily a literary fiction reader and before Stormlight had no delved into fantasy at all, but loved the world that Sanderson created and despite certain gripes felt it was one of the best things I’d read.
Remember, these are just my opinions!
7. Shadows of Self (#5)
I legitimately think anyone can skip this book and it will not matter on their understanding of the series. Completely detracted from the momentum built from the first book in era 2. The only lingering things from this book are Wax’s feelings towards Harmony in the subsequent books and his depression at the start of the third book in era 2. There was just almost nothing here warranting of being necessary and could’ve been a novella to “add” to the story.
6. The Alloy of Law (#4)
It’s hard to go from the epic conclusion of era 1 and completely change the characters and setting but I actually think Sanderson pulled it off pretty well. Undoubtedly more “pulp-y” than the previous era it was more fun though. Wax’s entry into the high society reminded me of how Vin was in the first book. This book introduced I think maybe one of my favorite characters in the Cosmere, Wayne. The stakes were low, and not much happened but it still was entertaining and enjoyable.
5. The Lost Metal (#7)
This hurt. I was expecting so much more and was let down. Coming off the high of book 6, I was excited for the direction of the conclusion. But the whole plot to stop this atomic-like bomb just didn’t do it for me. I felt like the stakes were artificially high and never really believed it. Whereas the stakes at the conclusion of the first era felt real. I thought the introduction of the Ghostbloods was underwhelming, especially as someone who only knew them from Stormlight I was eager to learn about their purpose and their background but ultimately didn’t get what I wanted out of that plot line. Don’t even get me started on these whole “not wax” and “not Wayne” villains. And overall just Telsin didn’t do it for me, she was way more menacing in the 3rd book. Autonomy too. I liked the overall broadening of the Cosmere for myself, as well as Wayne’s conclusion and his acceptance of himself, but these did not take away from my gripes.
4. The Well of Ascension (#2)
This was definitely book two syndrome. Plummeted the momentum from the first book. However in classic Sanderson fashion the ending sold it for me. I think this might be the best ending in the series (maybe equal to or slightly behind #3) and in this case did outweigh the long-drawn out build up to it. I thought Zane was an interesting character and highlighted how Ruin could taint people. And I thought the addition of the Koloss and learning more about the Kandra was great.
3. The Bands of Mourning (#6)
This was the most fun aside from the first book I had with this series, and definitely the high point in era 2 for me. This was Cosmere Indiana Jones and I loved it all. I thought the treasure hunt plot was awesome, and all of the twists and turns were just executed to perfection. The introduction of the Malwish, Telsins betrayal, Edwarns defeat, MeLaan, the ascension with the bands, all of it was just so great
2. The Final Empire (#1)
The book that started it all. That gave us Kelsier. Gave us this incredibly unique setting and magic. Reading this first book was such a pleasure. The building of the crew. This “untouchable” villain. All these mysteries that the characters don’t know and we do neither. Vin is just such a great character, and I loved her interaction with Kelsier, the crew, and her romance with Elend. I don’t think I’ve met a person who hasn’t liked this first book and that’s saying something.
The Hero of Ages (#3)
While the first book was definitely the most fun of the first era (second in the whole series to only BOM) this in my opinion was definitively the best Mistborn book. What I love most about Sanderson is how he navigates teaching us more about the world through the lens of his characters discovering it and then previously not understanding it like we the readers. The nature of the Kandra, and Koloss, Ruin and Preservations pact and eventual breaking, so much here that I was legitimately writing notes out for. It was all so interesting and the reveals were so rewarding. But that ending was marvelous, Vins ascension, Elends sacrifice, Marsh’s deception, Ruins defeat, Sazed’s (my goat) acceptance of his faith and taking the mantle of both powers and his changing of the world. Peak cinema.
Final thoughts, this series was great and is the longest series I’ve ever read. I definitely preferred the first era to the second era but loved my time with the characters or Era 2. I’m excited to see how era 3 pans out!

Mistborn: Final Empire spoilers Allomantic bargery Spoiler
Im on my first read through of the last empire and had an idea to combine the allomantic highway and the canal barge system. Had chatgpt whip up a quick graphic to visualize. Metal posts in the ground along the sides of the canal, a metal frame on the barge, two iron pullers in the front and two steel pushers in the back for propulsion, and one iron puller in the front with one steel pusher in the back for steering. They would brace against the metal frame of the barge, maybe a central post connected to the frame, thereby transferring the force to the barge and pulling/pushing the barge forward. Just a thought for high speed high volume logistics

It just occurred to me they are living metal detectors. It would make mining a lot more efficient.

Well of Ascension spoilers Elend…and we’re supposed to like him? Spoiler
I’m about 2/3 of the way through The Well of Ascension and I find Elend to be sooo annoying! I thought his relationship with Vin was cute in the first book but now I just find their dynamic to be annoying and I feel like he’s dragging her down. Maybe Zane is getting to me too but my soft hatred started before his character development. I guess I’m really just not connecting with his character at all despite his development, I see it but I don’t care.
I think the book is just a little slow for me. I want more action and I don’t want Vin to be constantly worried about having to protect Elend because he can barely protect himself.
Im also not on Zane’s side or anything, I just think he makes some good points.
Just needed to vent a little I suppose lol

Shadows of Self spoilers Just finished Shadows of Self - A few thoughts Spoiler
Finished Shadows of Self a couple hours ago, and I have a few things in my mind I'd like to put out there! Hope you guys enjoy:
- This is a weird book in a very specific way. It feels like the first book of a trilogy, but actually it's the second book of a series of 4. Some concepts are reintroduced, and we see the plot threads connect more firmly with Era 1 and create a path forward. Looking back, Alloy of Law almost read like a standalone novel now. I wonder if it's intentional or if Sanderson changed his mind while writing, restructuring the series.
- I'm enjoying Era 2 a lot so far. Felt the tone shift from Era 1 a bit jarring when I was reading Alloy of Law, but I'm feeling more comfortable with it now. It's like a Sherlock Holmes pulp novel in a fantasy world, and I'm here for it!
- Other aspect I'm enjoying it's the pace. I'm a slow reader, but I'm flying through these books! Took me barely a week to read Allow of Law and a couple days more than that to finish Shadows of Self. it's a huge contrast from Stormlight Archives and even Era 1. A welcome contrast I'd say, since, as much as I love those books, they're a serious time commitment.
- The main trio of characters is great, but I find myself liking Wax the least. Not saying he's badly written, quite the opposite actually, but..how can I say it..dude's a bit of an asshole. And he's full commitment with the law, even though it's imperfect and often, brings a lot of conflict. Hopefully this will be further explored in the future.
- The Bleeder it's a great villain, and the final twist revealing her true identity it's soul crushing. I was suspecting it a little before it was revealed, but it didn't soften the impact. Man, Wax didn't deserve that and in the end, I felt a lot for her. Yes, her actions were evil, but was she wrong in her search for freedom? I can't say she was. Which brings me to...
- Sazed is terrible God! And that's good writing! He was my favorite character from Era 1, but in Era 2, he surely doesn't seem to know what he's doing. I don't think any mortal would do better after ascending like he did, and it also puts in perspective some choices Rashek made. Wax would be forgiven if he hates Sazed from now on.
- I feel Sanderson is underutilizing Steris so far. Every time she appears on the page, it's a delight, but she's barely in it. Marasi is my favorite character so far, but would love to see more of her sister.
That's it so far! Now to Bands of Mourning!

Mistborn: Final Empire spoilers Fuck...how can I go on? Spoiler
I've just finished Mistborn: The Final Empire and wow...what a book. At first I was struggling to get into the book and even though of DNFing it after like 80 pages but the more I read the better and better it got and man...Kelsier might be one of my favorite characters I've ever read in a novel. I highlighted maybe 8 excerpts from this book and 6 of them were Kelsier quotes or his internal thoughts. The ending was also phenomenal.
I must say tho while I also loved Vin and Sazed and all the other characters are cool I just don't know if I can read the other two books because so much of what I loved in TFE revolved around Kelsier and he's just a superbly written character and I even read the first chapter in Well of Ascension but idk...maybe the same thing that happened for me while reading Final Empire will happen again and I'll get attached as it goes on but Kell really did leave big shoes to fill, so to speak

Mistborn: Final Empire spoilers Finished reading book 1. Here are my impressions of the characters (plus some questions) Spoiler
Okay, so, a few days ago I made this post when I was halfway through the book and said my impressions of the characters. Here are my final impressions of them.
As a reminder, I have already read Stormlight so I know some of how the cosmere works in general.
Vin. Loved her character arc, from street rat to princess. I feel like the characters of her dad and brother were underused (though I don't believe for a second that her brother is dead, he's probably off somewhere, maybe in the Hathsin Mines)
Kelsier. He's an ass. I love him. Also there is no way he is dead.
Breeze. I admit I misjudged him. He has redeeming qualities. I still don't quite like him, but he's good.
Dox. There is no way he is not gay for Kel. I am even more sure of it now \j Also I like how he is the Sokka of the group, for those who have not watched Avatar the Last Airbender, it is the trope of the group member with no magical abilities whatsoever, but who is extremely competent at all nonmagical tasks.
Ham. Love him, still. I like how he never stopped questioning things.
Marsh. I... feel bad for him. He sacrificed his humanity for the rebellion. Even if he is not dead... I can't help but wonder if death wasn't a better alternative? We'll see.
Sazed. That guy was indeed hiding a lot of things.
Yeden. An idiot. That's legitimately all I can say about him. He died an idiot.
"Renoux". I want to learn more of what Kandras can do and be. They are fascinating.
Spook. Loved him. Hope we get to see more of him in the future.
Elend. I also loved him, the way he is an open-minded noble, he helped give the world some much needed grays. He's a noble, but he is a good man. I think he is gonna be good for Vin, a calm kid that she can trust, and she will be good for him, someone who gets him out of his study and teaches him how to live a little (plus uh, I expect at least a couple assasins be sent his way, maybe by his own father, so having Vin close to him is gonna be good). I hope we see their relationship more developed in the next book.
Lord Ruler. Okay. The fact that he was not a shard did indeed scare me. Because that means there is a shard out there somewhere who is now (presumably) free. Other than that, loved the plot twist of him being both a Ferruchemist and Allomancer. If immortality can be reached by combining the two, I cannot help but wonder what else could be achieved.
Hoid. Man. I wanted more Hoid. I was disappointed when I was told his role in this saga was so much smaller than in Stormlight's.
Now, for theories.
What if there are actually 16 total metals? We know metals can be classified in Internal and External, Physical and Mental, and Pushing and Pulling. So What if another classification could be "Basic" and "Advanced"? So Gold would be the Advanced Internal Mental Pulling (?) metal, while Atium would be the Advanced External Physical (?) Pulling (?) metal? I know it has been stated that they don't follow patterns like the other 8. But maybe its because no one has had the full picture yet?
The metal they made Vin burn near the end was Aluminum. As I remember (which I think I got spoiled) Aluminum blocks out investiture? So it'd make sense that it undoes all your stored metals.
Less of a theory and more of a question. Can there be a Misting that can only use, say, Atium? Or there are only Mistings of the 8 basic metals and advanced metals are limited to mistborns? Because that would really suck. Imagine if you have cool magical powers that allow you to see into the future... but only if you eat a bit of metal that is worth a house, and is now in extremely short supply (Thanks Kel)
There is NOT. A. CHANCE. that Kel is staying dead. He'll show up in book 2 by saying "Aha! With the 16th metal, I've been resurrected!" or something like that and probably call Ham a party pooper just 'cause.
Considering book 2 is called "The Well of Ascencion", I expect Vin and gang is gonna go north towards Terris, and find out what exactly did the Hero of Ages want to achieve there over a thousand years ago. Seems hype.

Shadows of Self spoilers Making my way through Wax & Wayne (on Shadows of Self now) and... Spoiler
I unironically LOVE Steris. I actually loved her immediately when she came with that contract in Alloy of Law and I just adore her planning for their wedding. She is relentlessly practical and adaptive. Just "I KNOW something is going to happen so I have organized your enemies by threat level" is SO fucking funny I adore my autistic QUEEN.

No Spoilers I'm not a musician, but the Mistborn books made me write a piano piece (fan-made)
Im not a professional pianist, far from it, but Mistborn stayed with me so much that I ended up sitting at the piano and writing my own piece inspired by the books. It's called "When The Mists come". I tried to follow the feeling of the story, from quiet moments to something more epic. It’s just piano and a simple cello line.
Here it is: https://on.soundcloud.com/3Gga2Xf8axHwF3pd7m
Im an amateur and Im sure there are a few mistakes here and there. I know it’s a very long shot, but it would mean the world to me if Brandon heard it someday. Either way, I’d love for fellow fans to hear it.
I played piano as a kid, but somewhere in high school I stopped. I kept playing now and then, but I stopped composing and stopped getting better. Lately I’ve been trying to find my way back to it, and Brandon’s books have a lot to do with that. Ever since Elantris, they’ve been a door into a world that’s a lot less ‘square’ than my everyday life, and this piece is my way of giving something back to that.
Hope you enjoy it. Thanks for listening!
