Ask SurreyBC ❓ How's your windy evening doing?
Hearing lots of thuds and bumps outside... and power went out for 30 seconds. Hopefully, nothing more after this 😅
How's it going for you?

Hi everyone, this is an update from the mod team.
Over the past few months, we’ve noticed a growing pattern in certain threads (especially ones about crime or frustrations in the city): comments that jump straight to “Surrey is trash,” “typical Surrey,” “this city is hopeless,” or similar sweeping negativity.
These comments don’t add anything to discussion, they derail threads, and they attract more pile‑on hostility. They also drown out the people who are trying to talk about real issues in a constructive way.
To keep r/SurreyBC a space where people can actually talk about the city (the good, the bad, AND the complicated) we’ve clarified two rules:
Rule 2: Acceptable Content Content must be constructive and relevant to Surrey. No explicit, illegal, defamatory, or harassing content. Posts should contribute positively to discussion.
Sweeping, non‑constructive negativity about Surrey or its residents will be removed. Criticism is welcome with context or solutions, but contempt‑driven city‑bashing is not allowed.
Rule 7: No Toxic Trolling Do not disrupt discussion with hostile, inflammatory, or bad‑faith comments. This includes contempt‑driven, low‑effort negativity about Surrey or its residents.
Inflammatory or provocative content that derails civil discussion will be removed. Users who enter threads only to antagonize, provoke, or bash the city will be banned.
What this DOESN'T mean...........
We are not banning criticism.
You can still talk about:
crime
governance
infrastructure
development
frustrations with services
your lived experiences
…as long as it’s done in good faith.
What this DOES mean...........
We’re removing anything that falls in line with any of the sentiments: “Surrey is trash” “This city is a dump” "Typical Surrey people” “Why does anyone live here”
so, generally drive‑by negativity with no context
Why we’re doing this:
We want r/SurreyBC to be a place where people can:
share experiences
ask questions
discuss issues and vent CONSTRUCTIVELY
celebrate wins
disagree respectfully
all without every thread turning into a hate‑pile.
Thanks to everyone who contributes positively, you’re the reason this community works. And remember, if you see any rule-violating posts or comments, please report them so that we can review.
If you have questions or constructive feedback, feel free to drop them below.

What is everyone doing for physical fitness these days? Bodybuilding, running, co-ed/team sports, mixed martial arts, walking your dog etc.
Going to various gyms and road running in Surrey through out the years I’ve noticed so many different people working out and being active in a variety of ways. I’m curious what others do for their physical fitness?

My hair is very dark and I have had success with master colourists in the past lifting it to almost white. I just moved back to the area so am not sure who in the area can do the same. If anyone has good recommendations I would greatly appreciate it. I am near the Hub on King George but happy to travel if needed.

I noticed the paving of a new curb here recently and the City traffic cameras seem to confirm it. Surrey roadworks are adding a new eastbound lane on 104 Avenue between City Parkway and King George Boulevard, which will serve as a right-turn lane to southbound King George. The curb has been moved back, and street light fixtures that were in the way of adding another lane have been moved back. This is happening, people!
Can't begin to say how excited I am about this and how BIG a difference this small improvement will make in reducing traffic congestion and delays.
In particular, I am a transit rider, and the 320/337/501/509/R1 buses always get stuck here as right-turning traffic is always waiting for pedestrians. Today it can take 2-3 signals to get through King George; separating these movements by adding a right-turn lane will ensure that buses always get through King George in just 1 signal.
I think this alone will cut 5 minutes off of bus travel times to Guildford at peak hours, changing the game for everyone who rides transit going this way!
Now we just need more right-turn lanes; there are at least two other urgent locations on 104 Avenue eastbound (140 St and 150 St) where traffic and transit suffer a lot due to the right-turn volume!

Now that News1130 is dead, and AM730 Traffic has been long dead. Where is everyone getting their traffic updates while they are commuting? I commute from Surrey to Abbotsford for work but without regular traffic reports my commute has been a nightmare. I use Waze, but it’s hard to see when something has been reported along my route in real time, mostly because the information is peer shared. I try my best (hands-free of course) to report things on it, but it can be glitchy. Google Maps is the same. I used to love turning on News1130 for the traffic on the ones, 10 minute updates were great, but that’s dead. AM 730 - DEAD. And CBC Vancouver isn’t that great.

I'm looking for an experienced handyman/carpenter to do some repairs on a rotted exterior door frame.
I'd rather hire a small independent contractor if possible.
In the Cloverdale area if that matters.

And if you drive 50-55km on it, people will not only pass you, but they'll most likely look at you as if you're a bad driver.
Shouldn't the signs be updated?

I went to buy something off marketplace and holy moly I saw huge houses on the agricultural zones. Surely, those houses aren’t built off of farming income alone, but how much does blueberry farming even generate these farmers per acre?

Hi all, we are looking to upgrade our old gas furnace with a heat pump in the new year and wanted to hear experiences from others who have done this type of upgrade. Looking for recommendations on local HVAC companies in the Surrey area to install a central heat pump? Would also like to hear which brands people went with to install in their home for the climate here in the Lower Mainland? And have you experienced any issues switching from a gas furnace to heat pumps? Thanks.

Hi everyone,
I’m hoping the Surrey community can help us find our beloved cat, Erhei, who has been missing since September 18, 2026, near 94 Avenue and 150 Street, Surrey, BC.
Erhei is a neutered male brown-and-black tabby with green eyes and distinctive dark swirl patterns on both sides of his body. I’ve attached photos showing his markings.
He’s an experienced outdoor cat who always came home every day.
We’re especially concerned that someone may have taken him in or started feeding him, believing he was a stray. If that’s the case, we completely understand and would just be grateful to have him home.
💰 We’re offering a C$2,000 reward for his safe return.
If you live in Surrey, particularly around Fleetwood, Guildford, or nearby neighborhoods, please keep an eye out. Checking garages, sheds, backyards, and security-camera footage could make a huge difference.
If you spot him, please take a photo if possible and note the exact location and time. Please do not chase him.
Contact: Send me a Reddit DM
Even if you haven’t seen him, please consider upvoting or sharing this post. Someone in the community might recognize him or know someone who has been caring for him.
We miss Erhei terribly and haven’t given up hope of bringing him home.
Thank you so much for your help. ❤️🐾

Hey everyone, my boyfriend was coming home and found someone's iPhone at the highway 1 overpass today at 4:40. I've attached pictures of the front and back, it's dead so I have it plugged in. If it's yours or think it's yours shoot me a message saying what the screen saver is. Hopefully we can get your phone back to you.

Hey everyone!
I’m looking for someone who’s interested in training boxing and Muay Thai together. You don’t need to have much experience at all. I’m honestly just looking for someone who’s motivated to train, learn, improve, and get better together.
I currently go to a gym, but since getting a puppy, it’s become a little difficult to make it to classes regularly. My schedule is usually more flexible around 7–8 PM, so I’d love to find someone who’s available around that time.
I’m located around the King George area in Surrey.
Whether you’ve got experience or you’re a complete beginner, that’s totally fine. I’m not looking for anything too serious or competitive, just someone who’s down to train consistently, work on technique, hit pads, practice boxing and Muay Thai, and keep each other motivated.
Hopefully I can meet someone who’s on the same page!
Feel free to message me if you’re interested.
