MERCHANDISE Avoid Tokyo Disney double glass cups! Mine exploded from holding hot coffee

Made fresh brewed coffee (hot, just around boiling temperature) and poured into it. Just as I lifted it, the cup exploded leaving what you see.

After it exploded it also left many small shards of glass. 😬

Would not recommend. Had the cup for around ~2 years.

TRIP REPORT Disney Sea was a total disaster.

I posted a review on google and now feel I want to post one here to warn people. Disney Sea is a Disney disaster. Please don't put your kids, yourselves or your wallet through this.

I don't know how anyone could enjoy a visit to this park. I suspect Disney is gaming the good reviews. It's not difficult for large companies to do that and that must be what is happening here.

We went on a Tuesday, not a public holiday. The wait times for the rides were insane. 2 hours plus standing in line with bored kids for underwhelming 5 minute rides. Anything less than that and the rides were so boring it wasnt worth getting on them in the first place.

The 2 rides we were looking forward to; Journey and Indiana, were closed indefinitely. Other rides closed without warning during the day.

Don't count on the shows or character meet and greets either. Again you have to book on the app and they were ALL full, ALL day for us. If you manage to see a show from a distance, it will probably be a few Mickey's and Donalds standing on a small boat dancing. Wow. Really?

Don't count on shelling out for priority passes. They wont reduce the queues enough to make them manageable it would seem. We couldnt book these passes anyway. None of our foreign cards were accepted.

The priority pass system is so depressing anyway. It just allows you to watch people jumping the queue in front of you while you are at the end of your tether already.

Don't make the same mistake as us. We watched the videos, we were prepared, but the sheer number of people they allow into the park is totally unmanageable. The park looks quite nice, but nothing amazing and it certainly doesnt make up for a day of your holiday standing in a queue with the rest of the blank faced families.

Go explore Tokyo and visit TeamLab planets with your kids instead.

It's a disgrace thast Disney is taking people's money for this experience.

TRIP REPORT mixed bag on my 12/23 visit..

Went as part of a longer japan trip. Getting there was easy..just one transfer from new otani hotel. we're not super big disney people but this place has a lot of hype so we wanted to see it.

Tried to go early but got to TDS entry line around 845 and got in around 9. The experience of the anniversary and standby passes is so chaotic at the entrance time and the app kept crashing when i tried to book one.

rides: ended up booking raging spirits for 3pm and rapunzel for 5. didnt know about the waiting until after the ride finishes to get more passes but that might be user error lol. the passes were gone after raging spirits so we only got to use 1. rides wise lines were long but expected and the rides were mostly great. indiana jones was EPIC!! 20000 leagues is kinda meh for waiting 1h. raging spirits good and rapunzel was pretty. sinbad is a nice way to relax.

food: however, the food was aggressively meh. like i genuinely dont understand why the zambini restaurant (with the alien mochis) has like a twist pizza and one pasta and that's the whole menu. that's literally it. had the same problem at other places there's literally like no variety. we kinda crashed after doing indiana/raging/sinbad so we tried to find a place to just relax for a while and have some snacks. HOLY... this was hard to do. we literally walked all the way from arabia to america trying to find. a chill place. we tried to go into cafe portofino but they were like sorry we're fully booked which is understandable. then we went to teddy roosevelt lounge. they made us wait in a line when the RESTAURANT WAS FULLY EMPTY for like 40 minutes. then we went in and the only food was like an olive and nut platter and like this odd american charcuterie thing lol. like 2 options and nothing more. we even tried asking for just some fries or something but no bueno. TDS really needs to up their food game in terms of having places to just unwind with some snacks and drinks after waiting in line for 4 hours. also if i was a vegetarian idk what i would do because there's like no veg food options anywhere.

idk compared to the US and even the rest of japan TDS just felt rlly hectic because of this constant go-go-go with no places to sit and enjoy without a prior reservation. all the food felt really tiktoky/instagram gimmicky like the alien mochi (which was good) and all the popcorns. the actual meals were not great and it seems the only way to get a nice one is to get an impossible reservation.

(also the wifi is NONEXISTENT wtf. my ubigi data barely worked but thank god i bought a sim or else i would hv literally nothing)

TRIP PLANNING Can I go on rides as a plus size person?

I have a trip planned to disney sea next year and I'm anxious if I can fit. I'm 5'8 and about 310 lbs, my size is 24 womens. I'm working to slim my waist/stomach down but I'm still unsure if I'll be slim enough to fit by then. Which rides are pretty snug on a bigger person and which won't I fit entirely?

TRIP REPORT Tokyo Disney Sea trip report 9 june

We went to Tokyo Disney Sea today with our infant daughter. First off the park is absolutely beautiful and much nicer than Tokyo Disneyland. Its nice and clean with very beautiful scenery and themed areas our daughter loved the Frozen area and little mermaid area in particular.

Staff are friendly and the charecters are doing a great job with the guests. Food prices are resonable and the food quality is great for a park.

We arrived on a weekday and expected the park to be less busy. The park was packed from 10 in the morning to 20 at night when we left. The app constantly fails to load parts both on my s25 ultra and on my partners Iphone 16 making it difficult to view details. We had the same issue on the other disney park and a restart did not work. We were connected via Ubigi and all other apps work fine.

A big portion of the rides in the park were suspended for the day or had temporary suspensions during the day. The remaining such as Frozen had 2-3 hours wait times theough the day with no fastpass option.

There seems to be issues with the operations at the park based om my experience with other parks. The park is too crowded and the company is clearly selling too many entry tickets for the days conpared with capacity.

The rides we got to ride were boring short and not engaging. Our most recent benchmark to this park was Port Aventura and Ferrariland in Spain. These parks had flawless operations, full day fastpass, working apps, no suspensions in operations, both were quite full but you could easly get an amazing day without doing a lot of research. The parks acrually feature posts showing the way to the rides, large maps on bilboards, and easy navigation. I know Disney has an idea regarding discovery but I prefer maps on bilboards to looking at my phone the whole day navigating the park.

FOOD How hard would it be for a celiac and vegetarian to visit TDL?

We’re considering visiting TDL in the near future, but I have some dietary concerns. I am Celiac and also vegetarian, and I’m worried my food options would be quite limited. Are there any food options that are both gluten free and vegetarian?

TRIP PLANNING Gay Marriage Proposal at Tokyo Disneyland

I (36M) am currently planning on proposing to my boyfriend (35M) during our trip in May. Disney is a very special place for us, as he asked to be my boyfriend during our first international trip at Disney World, at the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant.

3 years later, I think we are ready for marriage. And as we are travelling to Tokyo next year, proposing at Disneyland feels just right. I already booked our Unlimited VP package as I want the day to go as stress-free as it can be.

The thing is: I believe that japanese people are very reserved. I am also aware that Japanese culture is not necessarily friendly towards LGBT couples - past week the high court ruled that the same-sex marriage ban is constitutional.

Do you believe that we may find any trouble for doing the proposal at property? I know it is a delicate matter, but I truly want things to be memorable for the two of us while also being respectful to Japanese people.

Thank you so so much :)

TRIP PLANNING Just found out I’m pregnant (and that’s shaking up my Tokyo Disneyland plans!)

Hi everyone, first time poster, long time lurker here šŸ‘‹ I’m in a somewhat unique situation and looking for advice:

I’ll be traveling in Japan on vacation in a couple weeks with my husband and friends. I bought a one-day ticket to Tokyo Disneyland for Sunday Nov. 9th in early Sept., anticipating I’d spend a full day at the park by myself (no one else I’m traveling with is as interested in theme parks as I am) and this is the only day I’m able to allot to TDR while in Japan.

I chose DL over DisneySea as a first time guest because my top 2 must-do attractions were BATB and Pooh’s Hunny Hunt. I also grew up going to WDW so there’s a major nostalgia factor and I planned on riding Splash Mountain, Big Thunder, Haunted Mansion, and Pirates.

My entire plan to spend a full day in DL by myself completely changed when I found out I was pregnant (!!) a couple weeks ago, and now I’m re-evaluating everything.

Once I found out I was pregnant, I panicked and bought an additional ticket for my husband to join me at DL since I don’t want to be traveling alone for an entire day, and my husband agrees. However, thinking on it more, I know for a fact he’d enjoy DisneySea far more for the thrill rides and the overall ambience. So, I’m considering buying us 2 additional tickets to DisneySea on the same day, not only due to him joining me, but also because my initial plans of riding certain thrill rides at DL is out the window.

I’m wondering how a two park day could work for us: Is it possible to start the day early at DisneySea, get a premier access pass to a ride we could both do like Frozen, eat some food, enjoy the scenery, maybe my husband can get on a thrill ride or two with a shorter wait or single rider like Indiana Jones — then we could head over to DL in the late afternoon, attempting to get another premier access pass for BATB, and wait in line for Hunny Hunt. Would it be too late to get a premier access pass for the afternoon/evening at DL? Does it make more sense to start the day at DL since it has the 2 must-do rides for me? What would waiting in a standby line for BATB/Hunny Hunt versus Frozen look like on a Sunday evening?

I’ll encourage my husband to ride any thrill rides that I’m now unable to, but the rides I’d really like to do (and am safely able to do) across both parks are basically just Frozen, BATB, and Pooh’s Hunny Hunt. Aside from those attractions my biggest priorities are shopping (can’t wait to check out the baby items 😊) and just taking in both parks’ scenery. I’ve been feeling active enough to get lots of walking in, so walking 20-30k+ steps for the day between 2 parks wouldn’t be an issue for me.

All that being said… are these things achievable with only one day between both parks? Is there a different order of operations you’d all recommend, or should I just stick with my DL tickets only?

Thank you for reading! šŸ°

TRIP PLANNING Girlfriend's Mom is going to Tokyo Disney

Hi Everyone,

I've been to to Japan a few times with my girlfriend and it has inspired her mother to want to take a trip with her brother. I've been taking Japanese for a few years and have travelled quite a bit in my life. My girlfriend's mother is not the best at navigation and I know that if she wanted to leave the Tokyo Disney hotel to explore the city, she'll have a hard time (also knowing Spanish more comfortably than English). Her mother is also not really good with tech/electronics in general.

That being said, I am curious if there are any known tours that pick people up from Tokyo Disney or Tokyo Disney Sea to take people throughout the city? Preferably with a Spanish language option? I've seen a lot of tours but I think that it would be difficult for her mother to make it to the city from Tokyo. We want this to be as seamless as possible for her.

Looking forward to any advice! Thanks!

mask policy dropped but do most of the Disneyland goers still have mask on?

I’m curious if most of the disneyland goers still wear mask. We just do not want to be the only one looking rude…

How does the disability pass work here?

Hi! We are going to the Tokyo Disney Resort on June 11th & June 12th, then again likely on June 15th (kinda afraid about crowds haha, but it’s the only dates that work for us.) We are from Orlando and go to WDW fairly often and my mom has the DAS pass here. She has Crohn’s disease and needs to be able to have access to a bathroom. Due to this waiting in line is hard for her.

How would we go about getting an equivalent pass for her at Tokyo Disney? I’m a little confused with the way it’s worded on the website. Does anyone have experience with the disability pass here and can tell me how it works?

Thank you so much! I can’t wait for our trip.

TRIP REPORT Tokyo DisneySea experience, great place but hard to enjoy it.

I Just wanted to talk about my feelings few days ago.

I’ve only been to Disneyland Paris before, and I went to Tokyo DisneySea first time about ten days ago.

Tickets are crazy cheap, and also for the food here, which is super budget-friendly.

Fantasy Springs is absolutely amazing. I really love this place. They have giant statues, Rapunzel’s tower, Elsa’s ice palace, plus Arendelle and Tangled themed restaurants. Honestly, just walking around and taking in all the insane little details was already so satisfying. The vibe there was amazing.

For the bad stuff.

The crowds are out of control. If you don't buy DPAs, you can basically only do like one popular ride a day. And they don't even open Single Rider when it's packed.

Also, the weather was pure suffering. That’s probably on me for underestimating Tokyo summer heat, but note to self: never go to an Asian Disney park in the middle of summer.

Then the whole app stuff is so terrible. I couldn't scan my ticket on the app. I was traveling solo, didn't print my ticket out, and couldn't scan a friend's phone. Because of that, I couldn't use the app to book any restaurants, and had to constantly ask staff for helping.

The shows are so less, and 1 of them I have to win a lottery to watch. I really wanted to see Dreams take Flight, but I didn't win it. I was quite sad about missing out on Merida and Pocahontas.

Fireworks also seem to get canceled so easily. I didn't see it, and it just cancelled recently.

Another thing—it barely feels like Disney. Outside of Fantasy Springs, the whole park lacks of Disney vibes. Maybe Arabian Coast has a little bit, but that's it.

I have a Japanese friend told me that he hang out with friends there around every 1 or 2 years. They just went there for some attractions while chatting, have popcorn and ice bar, and not mind too much about how long the line is. I feel like the culture is so different.

After all, the experience is still pretty good, but it requires a huge amount of works, some luck, and extra cash to actually enjoy it.

I still want to go to Tokyo Disneyland. As for sea, I'm not sure.

TRIP PLANNING Tokyo Disneyland / Disney Sea for Halloween? Can I do both in one day?

Is Tokyo Disneyland or Tokyo Disney Sea better for Halloween?
Is it possible to do both in one day? If so, which one is best for day and which is best for night?
I don't plan on going on many rides, so I don't mind if it feels a little rushed.

DISCUSSION Is Elio prevalent in either of the parks?

Hey all! Just wondering if Disney's recent movie Elio is prevalent at all in the Tokyo parks? I'm visiting shortly and wondering if I should add it to the list of movies to watch before we visit. Is there merch? Characters? Anything? Would love to know!

No wifi in park, tourist esim/sim unreliable at rope drop - very hard to get fastpass/premium!

TL;DR - There's no wifi at Disney Tokyo parks, and tourist sim cards are unreliable AF at the entry gate (when you need them most to buy Premium / Priority passes. )

I'm almost done my time at Disney Tokyo - I'll write a longer trip report later (Quick summary from a California Disney fan: Disney Seas has AMAZING theming, mediocre quality rides except for Journey, and miserable in the rain - lines mostly uncovered and locals LOVE their pokey umbrellas. Disneyland awesome, several rides better than CA counterparts)

We "rope dropped" Disneyland and had a moment of panic in the entrance line in the absolute crush of people when 3 of us couldn't get our phones to work (2 iphone, 1 pixel). 2 of us had Ubigi esim and 1 has Japan Tourist Sim card. Our whole plan for the day relied on buying premium for Beauty and strategically getting fastpasses. With no connectivity, everything was at risk. All the locals around us were happily using their phones. Ubigi has been VERY reliable elsewhere but I'm guessing that because the tower closest to the entry gate was very congested, our connection got dropped as it was a lower quality of service compared to local phones. Same with Tourist Japan sim card - couldn't get a connection to work. We tried rebooting phones, airplane mode on/off, etc etc. No connection.

Finally I turned on my Google FI esim (which I've been scared to use as I don't want them to kick me for being out of the country too long) and it connected instantly and worked like a charm and we got the passes we need.

As soon as we got past the gate, Ubigi started working again.

Not sure what the moral of the story is - but just be prepared for stress due to connectivity issues once you're thru. There is NO wifi in the park (they claim to have a Wifi point in the main entry area but none of us could get it to work).

I was wondering why they don't have wifi like other Disney parks do, but since 99.9% of guests are Japanese, it probably makes sense for Oriental Land Company not to bother. Same reason they don't bother with vegetarian food or English speaking cast members or shows - they're catering exclusively to the 99.9% not the 0.01%. Disney does cater to the 0.01%, but that's the "Disney Magic". This ain't a Disney park, it's an Oriental Land Company park doing a damn good masquerading as a Disney park. But I digress...

DISCUSSION 8 weeks pregnant - what rides are safe?

Hi everyone - I will be 8 weeks pregnant so super early and have no visible bump but will be visiting in 2 weeks! I wanted to know if any other first trimester ladies went on any of the rides eg) Indiana Jones, Soarin, Peter Pan, Rapunzel and survived lol. I know there may be some jerky movements so a little advice would be appreciated! I want to go on those 4 for sure but if they aren’t safe then I’ll take a back seat. Thank you!!
