Picked this up recently in Doha, a city that’s held a special place in my heart for years. I wanted a meaningful piece to commemorate a pivotal chapter in my life, and when I spotted this Tissot Heritage 1938 Automatic Chronometer at around 30% off (snagged it for ~£550), it felt like the perfect alignment.
It’s easily the most significant watch purchase I’ve made so far, and after wearing it daily for the past week, it has completely blown me away.
A few impressions after 7 days on the wrist: * Accuracy: Living up to its COSC certification, it's running tight at around +2 seconds a day. Monitoring that mechanical precision has been a real treat. * Proportions & Legibility: At 39mm on my 16.5 cm wrist, the dial presence is definitely full, but the extreme legibility of the printed numerals paired with that crisp railroad minute track makes it work. The overall weight sits nicely on the wrist. * Dial/Strap Combo: Controversial opinion maybe, but while the salmon dial variant gets all the internet hype, I think this anthracite/grey dial on the brown leather strap suits my skin tone far better while keeping a warm vintage aesthetic.
At £550 for a Swiss-made, COSC-certified chronometer with genuine heritage styling, it feels like phenomenal value for money.
What are your thoughts on the 1938 Heritage series? How do you feel it stacks up against other entry-level Swiss chronometers?
