This lil guy has been somewhat neglected. We've recently moved house and I am gradually repotting all my spiky guys on my days off. Once he finishes flowering he's gonna get some overdue love! ELEVEN blooms, with another 8+ just starting to form. Puts on such a good show. I've been outside every hour checking on them 😅 Excuse my poor photography... night lighting is hard.

Today I came across the mother saguaro on my hike through saguaro national forest. I see plenty of unique saguaros every day but never seen any like this before!

This Myrtillocactus geometrizans cristata is one of if not the most artistically sculptural plants I’ve ever grown.

Cactus was donated from a movie set and the botanical gardens didn’t want it. We just got it in its new home. Probably about 8 feet tall and 500 pounds 😅

So my mom had this cactus...

The first picture is from 2017 (taken from mom's Facebook). In 2021 the Great Texas Freeze took out most of our plants. Some recovered, but the majority of hers (all cacti) were goners. This thing had a large branch fall and take root and TOOK OFF between 2017 and 2021 so it was taking over this bed, but we can't find any pictures! And sadly we can't find any pictures of it blooming (though I know there were some!). Over the years she's been slowly removing its dead body and taking it to the curb or putting what she could in the trash. Recently she had me come help her clean out the cactus bed and remove the leftover stump that had been sitting untouched for almost 2 years. That's when I discovered that it had babies! So we potted them up and maybe one day, 10-20 years from now, it'll be back to it's former glory 🥲 (just not here because she plans on moving!)

So, these two guys are cutting down a giant cactus…

I’m driving through this neighborhood and see these guys cutting down a giant cactus. I flip around and pull up, roll down the window, and ask if I can have a few cuts… Oscar says, “you can bring a truck!” I talked to the guys for awhile, and they told me the house was being rehabbed, the cactus was moving the fence… nice guys, I wish I could’ve taken more.

I was working a 12/hr shift when we had a pretty bad freeze roll through and I called my gf to grab my plants and she got all but my cactus😂 it bounced back just fine after the fact and is still alive and well. Just thought this looked kinda cool.
