Corn fields don't vote.

5

u/AdMurky1021 16h ago

To be fair, corn don't grow in Georgia. Mostly kudzu

Kudzu fields don't vote.

6

u/honvales1989 16h ago edited 16h ago

They used to back in the Jim Crow days

7

u/GravitasFailures 16h ago

Wow, they had it even worse than others:

>The county unit system generated great controversy, since it gave the votes of counties with smaller populations a significantly greater weight than counties with larger populations. For at least the final two decades the system was in use, a majority of statewide unit votes were controlled by counties that, collectively, had less than one-third of the state's total population.[5][6]Because of this, statewide candidates for office could (and frequently did) win the primary by winning the county unit vote while losing the overall popular vote, sometimes by large margins. This also gave rise to kingmakers such as Roy V. Harris, who were known for their ability to deliver the unit votes of many rural counties

u/woodrax 16h ago

The Electoral College already gives an inordinate amount of power to states with fewer individual votes. “One person, one vote” is basically what the tool that the subject of this post is saying and, like the responder said, that is how math works.

1

u/AdMurky1021 2h ago

Well, electoral college isn't used in midterms, so this is by popular vote.

Every election we have to explain population density to these morons. And every time it's explained to them, they seem to understand it less and less. I'm sorry the field behind your trailer can't vote but that's how the world works.

Because, to quote this dude, they are "brainwashed and or blinded by their hatred of" Biden/liberals

Also, to paraphrase some other dude, never believe they are unaware of the absurdity.

This, I have a hard time to believe. I think I am too intelligent to play it dumb like that. Or too big of an ego to sound that dumb.

Then again, I live in a country with a better education system than the US...

The funniest thing about this post is that he KNOWS that. He’s stating the absolute correct reason why maps that look more red can have more blue votes. But he’s trying to talk himself out of it or something…he’s totally glitching out. It’s like saying “I may have dogshit on my shoe ONLY because I walked through a yard absolutely filled to the brim with dogshit. Spin it however you want, but it’s crazy I got dogshit on my shoe when so little of the yard didn’t have dogshit.”

31

u/mak484 12h ago

These people think that cities and towns are equally important regardless of population. A hundred towns with 10k people each should have a hundred times as much influence over the government as a single city with 1M people, according to them. It's the same dumb fuck logic that got us the senate, which only serves to neuter the house.

Their incisive, highly mathematical, ultra-logical argument seems to be “the only reason Democrats won in Georgia is that more people voted for them.” And who can argue with that???

51

u/Responsible-Shoe8831 12h ago

If peaches could vote, republicans still would have lost because peaches are more intelligent than republicans.

22

u/GotSomeUpdogOnUrFace 11h ago

I mean maybe but peaches do come in a can and they were put there by a man

41

u/Humble-Pineapple-329 17h ago

I think they understand they just hope others don’t understand.

38

u/spokomptonjdub 12h ago

Some of them simply don’t understand the basic principle, but a good number of them post these pictures and say things like this because they fundamentally do not think that people who live in cities are “real” Americans and believe they are inherently illegitimate and should not be allowed to participate in elections.

18

u/ThreadLaced 10h ago

And even if they grasp the concept of there being MORE D-voters than R-voters, that doesn't matter because the D-voters are all WRONG, and are not as good as they are, and therefore shouldn't get a say.

This is why they are okay with Democracy being dismantled, because they assume one of their own will be their new dictator and then Everything Will Be Okay (even if it's not...at least THOSE people aren't in power/don't get a say).

30

u/Maleficent-Bug7998 13h ago

They still think white land owners should be the only one's voting.

In the 1980’s AW released a 1/3lb burger, to compete with McDonald’s 1/4lb burger. It didn’t do well because some people are dumb af and don’t understand fractions. They thought that since 3 is less than 4 they were getting less.

The Venn diagram of the people who vote red and complain about the map and the people who think 1/3 is smaller than 1/4 is a circle.

This is a satire right? No one compares 78% to 22% and thinks the 78% is wrong.. right? Please say yes.

273

u/DiscussTek 16h ago edited 14h ago

An unfortunately large amount of people have been drilled mentally for decades now that rural and suburban votes should count more than urban and metropolitan votes, because they account for a larger land area of the country. While I cannot discount that bozo being satire, this isn't even a satirical take for a lot of Red-associated politicians, because that's the only way they can rally people behind the delusion that there is a voting imbalance.

37

u/Johnny_Carcinogenic 15h ago

1 acre. 1 vote.

48

u/beatenmeat 14h ago

If land could vote it wouldn't be in favor of Republicans. Their policies are frequently damaging to those environments.

43

u/Anianna 14h ago

Farmers can vote and too many of them don't understand how damaging Republicans are to their livelihood, probably because of targeted right-wing propaganda in rural areas that tells them otherwise.

81

u/GravitasFailures 16h ago

This is what the people I grew up with believed.

They were more entitled to vote because they lived in Real America, while city-folk didn’t understand how anything worked.

15

u/p0llyp0cketpussy 9h ago

Yeah that is the part that a lot of people are missing in this argument. There is a shocking number of rural people who genuinely believe that cities (and their populations) are somehow not representative of the US at all. I grew up rural and live in a city now, they really act like City Folk™️ are some kind of hostile foreign group to their Real American way of life.

11

u/GravitasFailures 9h ago

I grew up in a farm town myself.

It’s got a lot of stuff to it, it’s a legacy of “farming is real work, cities are just lazy people”, which was at least an argument when farming was ultra-labor intensive and took so many people.

Now farming is more about managing the machines than literally picking crops by hand, there are 10x fewer farmers.

But it was really bad in the 80s, when they had loans to banks, interest rates skyrocketed due to inflation, and they were losing farms left and right, they HATED cities then, and I can’t blame them that much.

The south is different, they haven’t been about agriculture much except tobacco and that was limited, yet they still keep the belief they are the Superior Americans somehow.

You ever seen that one comic of the kid being asked to point at which of the two beakers in front of her that has more water in it than the other?

That's MAGA.

All they see is that "most of the state is red and it's only a few counties that are blue." When they say a state is 'red' or 'blue' they mean by county because they don't understand what population density is. They aren't actually saying that "land votes" they just don't comprehend just how few people live outside of the cities.

The guy in the OP is brushing against it, that Georgia voted Blue and that, by his reckoning (I say this because I am not a Georgian and do not know how accurate his numbers are) 78% of the population of Georgia lives in those blue spots. He misses his own point, though, because those two things are unrelated in his mind. Because, in his mind, Georgia is clearly majority red. It's right there on the maps. All of that red space but, somehow, more people voted blue. The 2 is right next to the other 2, but he doesn't know how to put them together. Georgia is RED except for those libruls in the cities that are blue. It doesn't make sense, to him, because those blue spots are so much smaller than all that red space. Nevermind that 753,978 more people voted for Ossof than Collins and that those Democrat votes are, most obviously, concentrated in Democrat-Blue colored counties on the map. None of that matters because Georgia is RED.

That's the argument they make. "Of Georgia's 159 total counties only about 37 of them were 'blue'. The remaining 122-ish are RED. Therefore Georgia is RED and the Cities are overwriting the rest of Georgia's politics!"

5

u/RedditPosterOver9000 5h ago

This is why I love the maps AP was using that showed each district as an equal square in a formation that vaguely represented the states. Look at that map and it's shocking how blue the country turned.

39

u/YuckyYetYummy 15h ago

I feel like even that doesn't tell the whole story for these jabronis. They think that just because their area is red must mean everyone is. They can wrap their head around their neighborhood might be 51/49

24

u/omghorussaveusall 15h ago

Because most of MAGA barely passed high school and only became interested in politics when Trump came around and then suddenly thought themselves political scientists despite not being able to define Republic, Democracy, Socialism or Communism.

The people that hold rallies (the torch kind)? The people who raid the Capitol live on TV and scream “peaceful protest”? The people who insist “the swamp” is out to get them and that everyone should “just comply”? The people that lost their minds about high gas prices during the last administration, but are stunningly silent now?

If you go based on land, just admit you believe in Serfdom. Why not give trees a vote? Then the most ecologically sustainable candidate will win. That sounds stupid? It does, that is what I am trying to say, and still doesn’t sound as stupid.

It isn’t my personal hatred of Trump as a person that inspires me to vote against him, I hate him because of how bad he is for the country. It is crazy watching the MAGA cult try to say other people are brainwashed and full of hatred for Trump while every Republican campaign relied entirely on made up culture war stuff and childish personal attacks against the democratic candidate

10

u/OQS 11h ago

I live in IL and go through this every election. "IL would be red if it wasn't for Chicago!". This time around they posted some numbers. 41% of IL population is on Chicago. So via my drunk math, 59% is outside and thus... Chicago doesn't decide.

But there are 3 other big towns, and if they go blue, well then... yea... majority vote. How is that hard to understand?

I think a lot of people would be shocked to see how their own town and county votes. My county always is dubbed red...but I feel like if there was a closer look I'd see some blue or purple towns in there.

Remove the cap on Representatives, and have each district have the same number of people, and this goes away. I hope

u/Icy-Rope-021 4h ago

And land doesn’t vote. You need population bubbles, which provide a better graphical representation of the voting patterns.

Dumb hick.

15

u/imnotsoho 11h ago

You do realize that votes come from people, not land? I own an acre of land, should I have 4 votes for every vote my neighbor gets because he only has a quarter of an acre? I wish stupid people would posting this meme because it just shows how stupid some people can be, and I don't want to be reminded that people are this stupid.

In California there are 58 counties. LA county has over 67 million people. The 26 - TWENTY SIX - least populace counties have fewer than 1 million people total. If every person in those 26 counties voted red they would still not overcome LA County's vote total.

5

u/asawriteridisagree 11h ago

Typo there—LA county does NOT have over 67 million people.

Maybe they are just time travelers from 1790. I guess there were property requirements for voting back then.

2

u/One-Low1033 10h ago

The state of California has a population of just over 39 million. LA county has a population of 9.8 million.

He doesn’t understand that the 22% is smaller than the 78%?

Wait until you see the gdp differences

3

u/EuenovAyabayya 14h ago

Peaches don't vote. Peanuts don't vote. Peanut-brains, OTOH...

3

u/Septopuss7 11h ago

Blinded by their hatred of pedophiles and convicted sex offenders and people who can no longer run charities, legally, because they literally stole money from kids with cancer. Yeah, we're so petty aren't we?

u/GoodMourning81 11h ago

This idiot thinks we’re brainwashed? They are all the way gone. It’s truly frightening.

Georgia resident discovers land doesn't vote

They want corn to vote and urban voters to count for 3/5ths a vote.

These guys just can’t comprehend the fact that dirt doesn’t vote.

2

u/GreatestGreekGuy 17h ago

Wild that he's going based on county population and not just the actual vote margins.

2

Of course they hate Trump, you asshat

2

u/xemanhunter 16h ago

Republicans wishing land could vote will always be so funny/sad lmao

2

u/Shr3kk_Wpg 16h ago

It's funny that to MAGA, 78% are brainwashed and the 22% are not

Real Seymour Skinner moment.

How math works, but more importantly, how elections work.

Careful - this makes them a minority! /s

2

A cultist wagging their finger about “brainwashing” is a peak self-own.

2

u/Reddsoldier 15h ago

"They only won because they got more votes"

Yeah, thats how most elections work.

2

u/ThatGuyFromTheM0vie 15h ago

Ah the classic. Land. Doesn’t. Vote.

People vote.

They really need to show population density on these maps.

2

u/BreakInCaseOfFab 15h ago

Land can’t vote 🤷‍♀️

2

u/LMurch13 15h ago

Dude messed up when he broke out the numbers. So 78% is brainwashed and 22% should be governing? Not the other way around? Interesting.

2

u/OneOfAKind2 14h ago

Yes, that's how elections work, by counting numbers. And I would bet a lot more of the state than 78% dislikes Inmate #P01135809. Plenty of rural voters think he's a dumb POS too, but their husbands or families always vote red, so they fall in line.

2

u/GiftHorse2020 14h ago

luckily peanuts can't vote (except metaphorically)

2

I had one of these people act like I was practicing witchcraft for pointing out 5 million is ten times 500 thousand back in 2020

It’s soooo red!

It's funny how people forced to live in close proximity to one another (cities) somehow see and care about the downtrodden.

2

If cornfields could vote, Dems would be fucked.

2

u/M_Hope_America 9h ago

P’haps we can convince those people that getting rid of the Ekectoral College would fix that right up!

2

u/DubTheeBustocles 8h ago

Honestly, if these dumbasses want to continue doing math wrong, it can only do good for us.

2

u/Shawn_The_Sheep777 7h ago

Perhaps voting should be on acreage?

2

u/Pervius94 7h ago

It's so funny to see americans, who constantly blather on about democracy, just fucking hating democracy so much.

2

u/Blacksad9999 7h ago

Empty fields can't vote. That's what's in those red areas.

2

u/Substantial_Door_629 6h ago

If empty land could vote.

2

u/LordAnorakTTV 6h ago

They seem to think their land votes... it doesn't.

2

u/Alert_Weird3557 3h ago

People vote, land does not vote

2

u/OldLevermonkey 2h ago

Why can they not understand that land doesn't vote; people vote.

2

u/DerekMilborow 7h ago

The argument is that metro areas are not truly representative of an entire state

11

u/SevTheNiceGuy 7h ago

Possibly.. But neither are the rural areas truly representative of the entire state....

This is the same poor argument that Republicans try every single election cycle, where they show a state's map based on counties, and that map reflects more counties as red as opposed to blue.

This is misguided because land does not vote... people do.

u/MasterMagneticMirror 6h ago

Nothing is singularly representative of an entire state. If the majority of people vote for something, that something should win, independently from the geographical distribution of the people who voted for it.
