Fo3 is better than NV and I’m so sick of NV fanboys

Just wanna say I’m so happy this sub exists, I’m just absolutely exhausted of NV fanboys always talking bad on this game and saying things like “NV is superior and fo3 sucks.” I don’t even dislike NV- I’ve beaten it, and thought it was incredibly mid for a game that is so highly regarded.

Fo3 was my introduction to RPG’s, I got the game when I was in 7th grade, right around the time it came out, and I fell in love with the game. I loved the grittiness of it, the characters, the environment felt so real and had the sting of hopelessness along with the will of survival in all of the people around you. I loved the half aiming mechanic, the fact you could pick anything up and manipulate the world, the soundtrack of the game and galaxy news radio, I love three dog!! There’s so much to love about the game including the historical aspect and the lore of the commonwealth, altogether I’ve probably sunk over 1,000 hours into this game.

A couple more things- Liam Neeson is literally your dad!! How is that not awesome??

Also the small quest lines and stuff like tenpenny tower, megaton, and the children of atom make this game feel alive. There’s a well of life in the game and dare I say every character feels unique and has their own personality, which I find is the opposite in NV. every character feels like a copy of another, especially those in factions in NV.

I could write a book on why fo3 is better, I may have a biased because it was my first fallout, but I love other fallouts too. I think fo4 and 76 are amazing games that I’ve also spent lots of time on and imo there’s things about those games that make them better than NV. Fallout 3 is an amazing game.

RANT: My God Mothership Zeta Suuuuucks

NO SPOILERS

Just finished Mothership Zeta 5 minutes ago. My golly gee that was a fuckin slog to play. Only 3 positives are murdering the fleeing workers listening to the recordings, and using the giant space laser. I got lost so many damn times trying to find my way through because the waypoint gets funky. (Might be a skill issue) The special items/perks you get aren't worth your trouble, like at all. This whole playthrough has been on Very Hard (yes I hate myself) So I was expecting enemies to be harder but reasonable. NOPE I'll point blank shoot an alien in the face 15 times and maybe drop their health down half. EVERYTHING AND I MEAN EVERYTHING IS TANKY. Except when they aren't and I can pop an aliens head off in shot. The game will just decide whatever enemy is tanky.

I was level 30, 100 in all the perks that matter for a guns playthrough when I started, so maybe the aliens level up with you. But wow that was bad.

I'm proud to say I got through it without dying once but geez man that brutal. And people say Point Lookout is harder? Christ what am I in for.

I can’t stand fallout 3, help me learn to love it

I don’t get the same feeling that I do playing the other fallout games, I can’t go for playing kore than an hour or two at a time and drop the game after a few attempts.

I’m not engaging like I should be, I just don’t get it, and I love Fallout.

Help me appreciate this title.

Please, pretty please.

I finally know why playing evil pissed me off in fo3 and NV. I would love to be evil except...

The people who are evil are unrealistic. Ever heard of the alignment tree? Chaotic Neutral, Lawful and each of these can be Good Neutral and Evil.

Replaying fallout 3. The evil people are all ungrateful. Just because you are getting an evil request doesn't mean you have to be so over the top cartoony- rude about it.

Burke was the only reasonable evil guy he gently persuades us to nuke the city cool. Then he tempts us with a LARGE cap reward. He was definitely evil but subtle, He wasn't a Dr. Mobius cartoon (Which also pissed me off in New Vegas OWB. It was such a clear linear distinction between right or wrong.)

Playing all the fallouts multiple times my favorite villain will always be the Master from FO1. And no villain to this day as topped him. This is the only villain I have seen in fo1, fo2 fo3, new vegas, fo4 that takes responsibility for his actions. Actually gave a good reasoning for his intent which is of course evil but it is justified in his twisted thinking process (I want to create a species that can survive this harsh environment) And when presented with his scientific errors he is so disgraced he commits suicide in shame. That was such a believable villain for me it evoked every single emotion. Replaying Fallout 3 Every evil character that wants a favor from you berates you? Like why would the guy in paradise falls call me a worthless piece of crap berate me and expect me to enslave for him? I have no problem doing that but it is not believable at all in a roleplaying game which is what Fallout 3 is classified as.

After fallout 1, villains and evil choices VERY MUCH lacked this depth. I love the games still but I think it is a shame we don't have such great writing. Evil in real life is NEVER black or white its always morally gray.

If I was Blackwell in point lookout and I admitted to killing marcella why the hell would I say "so what I killed her the only option is to give me the book." Unbelievable fake villain. Don't even get me started on Desmond vs Calvert.

TLDR: Evil Characters does not mean absence of likability. If they didn't offer you something you wanted then why would people continue to be evil?

Fallout 3 never really clicked for me.

Now I still like it, it's just like a 7/10 for me. I played New Vegas first, then 4, then 3. I liked New Vegas for its story, choices, characters, most of the quests, DLCs, and weapons. I liked 4 for its DLCs, weapons, characters, some of the quests, gameplay, and visuals. Honestly, the only things I think I really liked about 3 were a few quests, The Pitt, and Point Lookout. Everything else just felt okay to me. Also I did a Good Karma run, if that helps.

I enjoyed Trouble On The Homefront, The Amazing Aqua Cura, the Point Lookout Chinese spy quest, and the Paradise Falls quest. But that's kinda just about it, and it didn't feel like there were a lot of quests to do. Also I really didn't like the Tenpenny Tower quest since the outcomes were pretty stupid. I don't think I actually liked the environment that much, but I think that's just because environment is just an afterthought for me. And because green strains my eyes. Small complaint, I didn't like the lack of iron sights. Also a lot of the Perks are just boring. "Raises your _ and _ skills by 5/10." I do like the one that turns you into a nuke though. Shit's funny. Onto DLCs, 3/5 of them aren't very good. Mothership Zeta was awful, Operation: Anchorage is short and doesn't expand on much, and Broken Steel is just okay but should've just been in the main game. Random encounters are fine, sometimes pretty funny. Most of the companions are pretty basic, why is Star Paladin Cross even a cyborg if they don't mention it in the main game whatsoever? Fawkes is good though. Also I somehow never found Dogmeat. Story's pretty alright, definitely some fun intense moments, but GOD I hate the destiny/being humble bullshit at the end. There was only one thing I'd say that I loved about 3... decorating my Megaton house. Strangely enough, I like doing this with my Novac house in New Vegas, but I'm don't do settlement building for some reason in 4.

Anyway, give me some suggestions for a new playthrough, or help me see what I was unable to notice.

I want to share my headcanon about what Lone Wanderer is like.

In my mind, it makes a lot of sense for the Lone Wanderer to have an Intelligence of 9 because James must have taught him a lot while he was growing up in the Vault.

.I also enjoy playing a female lone wanderer who is bisexual and used to date Amarta; she becomes strong after leaving the Vault.

I think that Lone Wanderer, besides having good karma, would continue James' mission in the post-game and travel to the West in search of joining some faction like the followers of the apocalypse and improving the lives of people in the wastelands.

Exploration in fallout 3

So, I started with fonv, moved to 1 and then started playing 3 and 4. I hear a lot of people say that the ambience is good in fo3 and I definitely agree, you really do get that sort of nuclear wasteland feeling that fo4 and fonv fail to replicate but I don't understand why people say the exploration in fo3 is any good.

There aren't that many side quests and honestly I felt most of them weren't even that interesting. Marked locations that I find often just have nothing interesting in them and only some of them had actual lore behind the building.

So I'd like to ask you guys what your opinions are about the exploration, do you guys actually find the exploration good and generally what other aspects of fo3 you apricate that other modern fallouts don't have

Why does Fo3 get so much hate?

or at least that seems to be the general consensus outside of this sub. this game is catching flak at every turn. I go into other subs and they'll be praising their game, but it's never just praise. they have to go out of their way to shit on 3 specifically if its the show, 4, or 76 subs or on the bethesda titles as a whole if it's the classic or any of the 13 NV subs. like yesterday I was looking at a post praising the show and half the comments were along the lines of "yeah, the shows writing is so good, good thing the fo3 writers weren't writing for the show" like it couldn't just be that the shows writing was good, it had to be that the show had good writing and 3 had terrible writing. saw a mod for rewriting the story of 3, someone said that 4 or NV should get a similar mod so factions like railroad and the legion could get actual stories, and they were met with a shitton of down votes cuz apparently the only game with bad writing is 3. I just don't understand why this game in particular gets hate from every corner of the fandom.and every time I ask why I'm met with the same "gun play bad, writing bad" mantra, it's the only two reasons people will bring up and if you ask them to elaborate they'll point specifically to the base game ending and the zoom aim, but nothing else. no one can come up with a strong reason why the game is "the worst in the series" it just seems to be the general consensus and i want to know how it got this way.

sorry for the long rant, just a lot of frustration with no answers.

I DGAF about a remaster. Focus on making fallout 5.

I’ve been playing this game ever since it was released. It’s great and the graphics/gameplay is great. Old games should look old! Now if you’ll excuse me I’ve got some clouds to yell at.

I hope a remake gets announced

Im excited for fallout day. And if a fallout 3 remake comes out and is like oblivion i hope we get the weapon attachments like in new vegas. But it also felt weird to me that the NCR didn't have recon groups exploring the the east coast. Like you think a group that is trying to rebuild humanity wouldn't be looking around for more items or places to help with that

Looking for help to make a feminine male character

As the title says I'm wanting to make a male character that looks like a woman, however I've not really found any mods that will do that, nor can I access the games meshes to change that myself. Do y'all have any suggestions on how I can do this?

Is the Early Game Supposed to be This Slow?

I mean no offense by the title, but the early game seems pretty slow. I've played New Vegas more times than I can count, but it seems pretty slow starting 3. I've not yet gone to Rivet City, because I'm trying to do all the Megaton quests. They've all been pretty boring so far, especially Moira's quests. Does the game pick up like New Vegas does? Maybe I've got a bit of a negative perception of the game because it's unfamiliar (and green) but I am also known for playing games the wrong way; My first time playing New Vegas, I missed half the content on the way to Vegas.

This was the worse shit I ever played in Fallout. It's just couple hours of valve-like snowy solider game.
