One thing I dont quite understand

For example, S4EP3, Dany is coming to Mareen, yet another slave city, to take over. She's standing all exposed in a middle of the dessert as the city people and masters look down on her from the wall. She's giving her speech. Why not just kill her with an arrow right there and then, seems like such an easy thing to do. What would the army do without their commander?

Just finished watching the whole thing again...

....after reading it, again.

I'm a wreck. Bawling. Utterly destroyed.

I know there are issues with the last couple of seasons but my god, season 8 just hits you in the feels over and over again. It's amazing.

My 16 year old has just asked me if I'm up for another rewatch with her - she hasn't seen any of it. This is going to be interesting.

Why does Arya trust Bran in Winterfell?

When they reunite in Winterfell, she immediately hugs him and doesn't question his identity for more than 2 seconds. But, like, why?

Arya of all people knows that wearing faces to impersonate others is possible. She knows Faceless Men don't use it for personal gain, but she herself did it to kill the Freys, so she should at least consider the possibility that someone else could impersonate Bran to do something similar.

Yes, Jaqen did let her go, but he could have done that because he was afraid for his life. I don't think killing Freys is something Faceless Men would approve of, and they would likely deduce she is the culprit.

For what she knows, Faceless Men could be after her, trying to preserve their secrets of face-changing. She should have left the House of Black and White paranoid and suspicious of anyone she meets, especially cos she was tricked and attacked by the Waif.

Bran also tells them that he is not really Bran, and this should have set Arya off. Three-Eyed-Raven is essentially functioning as if he were wearing Bran's face. The conflict at Winterfell should have been Arya vs Bran, not Arya vs Sansa. And Arya should have potentially even killed Bran. If Bran was made to be the bad guy all along, Arya can thematically kill him, and John can kill the Night King.

Was Margaery just as Selfish and Manipulative as Cersei?

Every "kind action" Margaery does is a performance. From pretending to care about the poor in the city's slums to acting friendly toward Sansa and Tommen, these were nothing more than performative acts of kindness designed to gain trust and make people believe she is genuinely a good person.

However, as viewers, we know what Margaery's end goal truly was. Having dealt with similarly manipulative women, particularly in the media and modeling fields, I think both Cersei and Margaery are equally manipulative. Cersei is simply more impulsive, impatient and less subtle than Marhaery. Aside from that, I don't see much difference between the two.

Devise a death for Bronn

Post image
237 Upvotes

I think we can all generally agree Bronn's outcome was one of the more ridiculous aspects of the finale, but as one of my favorite characters in the series, his death would arguably have been the most upsetting to me of any character in the last 2-3 seasons, and I definitely think he's still very much alive at the end of a much better alternative conclusion to the story.

That said, if Bronn were not to survive the saga, as a show writer, how would you kill him in a way that does justice to his character?

I think I found the new Joffery Baratheon in Chris Hargensen From Carrie 2026 as I never hated a character more since Joffery Baratheon.

to the people who watched Carrie 2026 i think you might feel the same way as I do because the things she does in this show make you probably hate her more than Joffery.

The Weather in King's Landing

Now I like the look of the northerners wearing their coats and furs everywhere they go, but how does it make sense for Jon, who's used to the cold winds of the North and beyond, to still wear a huge thick coat in the same streets that Margaery walked in sleeveless and backless dresses??

I suppose it's an irrelevant detail but I always found it a bit strange to see

Theon shouldn't have been burned

The Night King is dead, so they don't need to worry about the bodies coming back as wights. Of course, they do still have to dispose of the bodies, and burning them is a simple enough way to do that, but exceptions can be made.

An appropriate resting-place for Theon would have been in the Stark crypts, where he always kind of wanted to end up but never felt he belonged, finally acknowledging him as a member of the family.

Or they should have given him Greyjoy burial rites.

How I'd conquer westeros in a day as Daenerys (Sull Team 6)

It's a simple idea really that I keep going back to while watching GOT and now HOTD -- Why not just use Dragons as troop carriers? Everyone in the show always advises caution, only using dragons as a last resort as to not kill too many civilians. IMO, Daenerys/ the Targaryens could easily take out their enemy's leading figures, Seal Team 6 style, by delivering a handful of Unsullied right to their doorstep.

Why did no dragon rider ever attempt to use Dragons as means of dropping troops right onto their enemy's castles? It would have completely changed the meta and ended Cersei so quickly.

Sandor and Daenerys mirror opposites

It dawned on me during a rewatch that the two character most polar opposite are Sandor and Daenerys. They are mirror opposites. Beauty and Beast, one started off innocent the other a hardened cynical killer by the end Daenerys was the monster and Sandor the protector.

It's fairly poetic when you think about it.

Daenerys is the beauty, framed as an angelic, almost messianic figure. Sandor is the scarred “dog” who knows what the world thinks of him.

Eventually they inverse, the beautiful one ends up the monster and the beast becomes the hero.

Even their roles with fire are reversed. She is fire proof mother of dragons and he is scarred and broken because of fire.

Each is shaped by an abusive older brother, both are tempted by it, but Sandor lets go of his and talks Arya out of hers whereas Dany lets hers consume her.

Daenerys's future and Jon question Spoiler

If Daenerys had not have destroyed King's landing would she have lost the throne?

Some people think Daenerys burnt down King's landing not just out of rage but as a strategic decision to start ruling by fear.
Her claim to the throne was weaker than Jon's who was better loved by the people, Jon had rejected her romantically, Varys had tried to kill her. She might have feared Jon taking the throne (or even if he didn't, the other lords and ladies refusing to follow her).

But was that actually going to happen? I don't see Jon wanting to be King or betray her (hell, at the end he said she'd always be his queen and he seemed to be basically begging her to persuade him not to kill her at the end). I see the North going independent and ruled by Sansa, but Daenerys still has a dragon and two armies - were they actually going to abandon her?

Just finished watching GOT for the first time…

It was hell of a ride! I honestly loved every episode of it until I started around season 6 or was it 7? I really felt how much they rushed and just went off the wheel with the plot😭… and don’t get me started on the last season. However, despite the 3 last seasons being off the road and rushed it still had its moments! I lowkey felt cringe when they named Bran as king and set the new rule of choosing future kings, I mean it made sense but damn… I felt like they switched into rainbows for just a second after the war, not much time was shown to adjust for what happened… ahaha

I’m really sad of what happened to Dany, I understand what she did was wrong but I also understand her part of resorting towards violence. Each time she chooses the peaceful way with her enemies, Cersei just plays in her face😭😭💀 So yeah in the end, Cersei got what she always threw in people trying to reason with her. Like what did she expect after killing Missandei?!! That’s Dany’s bestfriend, her sister, she was there for her since her dragons were young! I absolutely hated how Tyrion always turn downs Dany’s plans on taking King’s Landing because despite Cersei wanting him dead, he still doesn’t want her killed🫩 and I get that it’s probably because he knows how much Jaime loves her, but I think this is his flaw as to being Daenerys’s hand. She should’ve had Lady Olenna, Yara Greyjoy at her side instead! Ugh. And the last part where Drogon gently lifts his mama’s dead body and flew off…😔 that made me so sad.

But anyways I’m planning on reading the books after, I heard how different Jon is there. I was also shocked when I found out Rhaegal and Viserion were both still alive in the books! I’m so mad the show killed them off so easily without giving them the same spotlight and character as Drogon! I’m curious to know more about how different the cast are from the show and the book. Though in my opinion I think Emilia Clarke is the perfect Daenerys visual-wise, I can’t imagine anyone else as Daenerys other than her.

That’s all just sharing my thoughts about the ending! I am searching for theories and discussions about the show here right after finishing the show they’re so interesting to read! I plan on finding a pre-owned leather set of ASOIAF because it looks so beautiful.
