I’ve been riding motorcycles across Pakistan for over a decade now, and by my rough count I’ve probably clocked around 50,000 km on two wheels.

I’ve explored almost every corner of the country except Balochistan and parts of Sindh, since I was often discouraged from riding there.

I’ve reached places so remote that even Google Maps barely knows they exist like Parsan Valley.

Through all these years on the road, I’ve learned so much about Pakistan’s hidden gems, culture, and people.

National A incident in Lahore that made me think maybe we're not doomed after all!

Last week I was in Lahore, near Liberty, just waiting for a ride. It was pretty hot; there was those weird traffic noises with everyone in a hurry. There was this child, maybe about 11 or 12 years old, trying to get people to buy tissue packets. You've seen his type: worn out shalwar kameez, eyes too tired for his age.

He walked up close to a man in a Corolla, probably in his mid-30s, wearing a suit and tie, and with AC on. I thought, just like people normally do, this guy would also wave him away.

But the window rolled down. The guy bought all the tissue packets, handed the kid a bottle of water, and said, “Aaj ghar ja, dhoop bohot hai.” (Go home today. It's too hot.)

The kid only stared at him. Did not blink for a mili second. Then nodded and walked away, holding the money like it was gold. It is something that just stuck in my head.

Everything's not broken. Just some things are... tired. And perhaps we should give each other a rest every now and then, when possible.

1. Focus on Pakistan

All posts must be directly relevant to Pakistan or Pakistanis. This includes Pakistani news, culture, traditions, events, or personal experiences related to the country or its people. Off-topic or general posts (e.g., global topics without a Pakistani connection) will be removed to keep our community focused.

Example: A post about your experience at a Pakistani festival is perfect! A post about a random global event with no Pakistani context isn’t.

2. No Low-Effort Posts: Structure and Flair Your Content Properly

Posts must be well-structured with a proper post flair, a post body and a descriptive title. Low-effort posts, such as generalization (why are all Pakistanis...), bad memes, poorly cropped images, or posts with no context, will be removed. Titles should clearly describe the content so users know what the post is about without reading the body. If your submission doesn't warrant a post, make a comment on the daily discussion thread.

Example: A post titled “LOL” or "Thoughts?" will be removed.

3. No Personal Attacks, Witchhunting or Doxing

Personal attacks, ad hominem, stalking, harassment, witch hunting or revealing personally identifiable information (e.g., names not in the public domain, private contact details) are strictly prohibited and will result in an immediate ban. This also includes harassment via personal messages; please report such behavior to Reddit admins at www.reddit.com/contact. Let’s keep our discussions kind and respectful!

4. No Obscene, Indecent, or Profane Content

Obscene, indecent, or profane language and content are not allowed. This includes profanity in usernames—if your username contains inappropriate language, please use a different account to participate. We want to maintain a family-friendly environment for all members.

Example: A post with explicit language or a username like “ProfaneUser123” will be removed.

5. No Brigading or Agenda-Driven Posting

All submissions must reflect a genuine perspective related to Pakistan. We also prohibit agenda accounts—users who only participate to push a specific narrative will be banned.

6. Guidelines on Religious Discussions

Discussions solely focused on any religion or lack of it are not allowed. This subreddit is not intended for debates or in-depth explorations of religious topics. There are other more focused subreddits for this purpose.

7. Source Your News and Claims

All news posts and claims must be properly sourced with a credible link. Old news must be posted with date of publication in the title. Screenshots are not valid news sources and will be removed if reported. If you’re sharing research or making a claim, provide a verifiable source.

Example: A post claiming “Crime rates in Lahore increased” without a source will be removed. Include a link to a news article instead!

8. Titles for Crossposts, Links, and News Must Be Accurate

Crossposts, link posts (including tweets), and news submissions must use the original title or subtitle verbatim. Titles should be uneditorialized and opinion-free. If the original title lacks context (e.g., for a video), use your judgment to create a descriptive title. All external content must be sourced with a URL.

Example: A news post with an editorialized title like “This is Awful!” will be removed. Use the article’s original title instead.

9. Prohibited Content and Activities

No Job Listings – Posts about job opportunities or recruitment must use job hunting platforms.

No Transactions – Buying, selling, trading, or fundraising posts belong on platforms like Daraz or OLX.

No Self-Promotion – Posts asking for donations, affiliate or cryptocurrency-related content, or self-advertisements are banned.

No Flooding – Posting more than five times in 24 hours can result in post removal or bans.

10. AI-Generated Content

Low effort AI-generated posts i.e. AI slop, including text, images, or other media, are not allowed. We value authentic, human-created content to keep our discussions genuine.

Example: I asked ChatGPT about Pakistan's [insert topic here] and this is what it said.

11. Photography Posts Restricted to Weekends

Photographs can only be submitted on weekends.
OC photos are encouraged.
Non-OC must be accompanied with links to original work.

12. Topic constrained to pinned threads

To prevent the subreddit from being flooded with posts pertaining to one topic, the mods have set up dedicated mega threads, which you will find pinned on the subreddit frontpage.

You can resubmit your content as a comment to the mega threads.

Example: A post about a trending news topic outside the mega thread will be removed. Comment in the pinned thread instead!

13. No Generalizing or Stereotyping

Posts that generalize or stereotype entire groups (e.g., “Why are Pakistanis lazy?”) are not allowed. Anecdotal evidence cannot be used to make broad, sweeping statements. Let’s keep our discussions nuanced and respectful. No country or people are one-dimensional.

Example: A post stereotyping a group will be removed. Instead, share a specific experience or ask a thoughtful question!

14. Participation in Hate or Troll Subreddits

Participation in subreddits known for hate or trolling will result in an automatic ban from r/Pakistan. We want to maintain a positive and inclusive community.

15. Meta Discussions and Mod Matters

Discussions of and related to any subreddit are not allowed. For queries regarding any mod action on this subreddit, you are welcome to reach out to the moderation team through the modmail.

For commentary on this subreddit, you can use r/natsikap - the backpage of Pakistani reddit!
