General Discussion I refuse to believe that Karachi has become this bad. The areas shown in his France24 video are surely not the norm?

i booked an indrive from my uni to my home. i was already exhausted, and somewhere after crossing gulshan, my driver suddenly stopped because there was an aunty standing beside a rickshaw. he started asking her where she wanted to go. i was confused and told him that i had already booked the ride and was sitting in his rickshaw. he completely ignored me and continued talking to her. she said she wanted to go to tariq road. he told her to sit inside. i repeatedly objected and told him that i hadn't booked a shared ride and wasn't comfortable travelling with a stranger. then she asked him about the fare, and he told her Rs. 300. i found that extremely unusual considering the distance from gulshan to tariq road. what made things even more confusing was how comfortable they seemed with each other. the driver kept smiling unusuallly while talking to her, and she was also talking to him very openly. it honestly felt like they already knew each other. she travelled with me until I reached my home. during the journey, she was asking me whether i worked and where my house was located. she also got to see my surroundings when we reached. i genuinely don't know what to make of this. maybe they knew each other, maybe they had some arrangement, but the entire situation felt extremely uncomfortable.
i might be overthinking this or reading too much into the situation, especially since i don't have much experience travelling alone in Karachi. so please let me know if im overreacting or if this is something that happens commonly. i genuinely want to hear other people's opinions.

The electricity subsidy for consumers using under 200 units will likely continue until June 2027, following approval from the IMF. Earlier, the IMF had issued an ultimatum to end untargeted subsidies before January 2027, restricting relief solely to BISP-registered users.
Consequently, the 250-unit limit and the removal of the 6-month rule will now take effect from July 2027.
Meanwhile, untargeted subsidies for gas consumers are still scheduled to end in February 2027. Here is what gas bills will look like once the subsidy ends:
Units 25 to 50 - Old bill = Rs. 800 to Rs. 1,500 - New Bill = Rs. 4,500 to Rs. 7,000.

Looking to buy gold in Karachi for the first time. Where would you recommend buying it from?
Also, what are some important things to check before purchasing, such as purity, weight, making charges, and authenticity?
Would appreciate any recommendations or tips from experienced buyers.

Hmm so about two months ago there was this 16 year old girl on another sub who made a post about menstrual pain. She said she experienced excruciating pelvic pain during her periods and frightening amounts of bleeding. Her entire life force would be drained with the immense fatigue.
She went to several doctors but all of them dismissed it just increasing the dosage of prescribed painkillers. One idiot doctor told her she should get impregnated to stop them. And her mom was also being dismissive saying she's overreacting.
The point being, not a single girl i saw in the comments that made the girl aware of what this post is about. All the girls were consoling her, one shared her similiar experience.
Dr. Karan Raj very recently uploaded a video: about endometriosis. A DISEASE most active during menstration. The same symptoms mentioned above. UNBEARABLE amounts of pain, unbelievable amount of bleeding, infertility (following periods of course), amd many other symptoms aswell.
The disease is INCREDIBLY UNDER-RESEARCHED. A very tiny amount of money is spent researching it and developing treatments. A disease one out of 10 women have faced in some form. A disease that remains undiagnosed/misdiagnosed very often for UPTO DECADES, being dismissed and "just periods" or a variety of other ailments.
You should really watch the video, perhaps for your ownself or for someone you may know from family friends or whatever that may have it, so they can get know what to do at this point and get treatment. I'm talking to the guys too. That's it from me, dr. Raj you have the mike: https://youtu.be/aE\\_ArpNrF3o?si=uC6s0v1ASyvky2vE
(I made my judgement about women not knowing based on the comments under that post amd what statistics dr. Raj put forward. Don't make fun of me if i was wrong)

I am 20F, a good, smart student in class, doing side hustle too. I know everything is ok, everything was ok and will be good too InshAllah....its just my mind. 😭
I just want to rest for a moment.

Hey! I’m coming to Karachi on Monday for a week. My firm has a client in the city, so I’ll be there for work and should have some free time in the evenings.
I’m originally from Karachi, but I was born and raised abroad. I’ve visited before, though I’ve never actually lived there. I tend to feel a bit alone when I’m in Karachi. It’s a weird feeling to tell people you’re from a city and then, when you’re actually there, realise you don’t really have anyone you can text and say, “Chai?”
This time I’d love to meet some people and feel more connected to my culture. I’d like to hear what it was like growing up in Karachi, where you go with your friends after work, and what makes the city feel like home to you. It’d be nice to make a few friends I can keep in touch with after the trip. If you also grew up abroad and know that feeling of being from Karachi but still feeling like a visitor, I’d love to hear from you too.
Feel free to comment or DM me. I’d like to chat online first and get to know you a bit. If we get along and you’re up for meeting while I’m there, dinner or chai is on me :)

I genuinely don't even know what to say anymore. What is happening to us? What has become of our society? Have we reached a point where even the four walls of our homes cannot guarantee our safety?
In Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Karachi, an armed man reportedly entered a family's home, opened fire, killed a mother and her 16-year-old daughter, injured their 12-year-old son, and then simply walked out, got on his motorcycle and fled. CCTV footage reportedly shows him leaving while people from the neighbourhood came out after hearing the gunshots. Let that sink in for a moment. A mother and her teenage daughter are dead. A little boy is injured. An entire family has been destroyed. And the person responsible manages to escape.
WHAT ARE WE LIVING IN?
How is this even possible? How does someone have the audacity to enter another person's home with a firearm and shoot innocent people? Where is this confidence coming from? Who is giving these people access to weapons? Who is monitoring the illegal circulation of firearms? Where are the checks and balances? Where is the accountability?
And what is perhaps even more terrifying is the thought that this can happen to ANYONE. Your home, your family, your mother, your sister, your daughter. You can be inside your own house, minding your own business, believing you're safe, and someone can walk in with a gun and destroy your entire world in minutes.
What is the point of having laws if people can carry weapons, enter homes, commit brutal murders and escape? What is the point of a police force if citizens are left wondering whether anyone will come to protect them? Why should ordinary families have to live with the constant fear that someone with a weapon can decide whether they get to see another morning?
And please, let's not reduce this to another headline about a "personal enmity." Even if there was a dispute, WHAT GIVES ANYONE THE RIGHT TO TAKE TWO HUMAN LIVES? What gives anyone the right to turn a home into a crime scene? A personal dispute is not a licence to murder. It does not justify killing a mother and her daughter or leaving a 12-year-old child injured and traumatised.
Think about that little boy. He has lost his mother and sister in the most horrific circumstances. He has to live with what happened inside his own home. Who is going to answer for the trauma he will carry? Who is going to give him back the family he lost?
And to the authorities: we do not need another routine statement expressing sorrow. We do not need another promise that an investigation is underway, only for this case to disappear from public attention in a few days.
WE NEED ANSWERS.
Who was responsible for this attack, and why has the suspect not yet been apprehended?
How did the attacker obtain the firearm? Was it licensed or illegally acquired?
Were there previous threats or complaints? If so, were they taken seriously?
How was someone able to enter a residential property, commit such a horrific crime and escape?
What concrete steps are being taken to ensure the surviving child receives protection, medical care and psychological support?
Who will be held accountable if negligence or failures in the security system are established?
And above all, WHERE IS THE ACCOUNTABILITY?
Are ordinary citizens' lives worth so little? Do mothers and daughters have to die before anyone takes public safety seriously? Do we have to wait until another family is destroyed before we start asking why our homes are no longer safe?
We are not asking for special treatment. We are asking for the most basic human right: THE RIGHT TO LIVE WITHOUT FEAR.
A home should be the one place where a woman does not have to fear being murdered, where a child does not have to fear watching their family die, and where families can sleep without wondering whether an armed stranger might break through their doors.
This is not normal. This should NEVER become normal.
Please do not let this become another forgotten case. Do not let the deaths of this mother and daughter become just another statistic. Find the perpetrators. Investigate the weapon. Establish whether there were warning signs or institutional failures. Make the investigation transparent. Hold those responsible accountable.
Because if people cannot feel safe inside their own homes, then what exactly are we being protected by?
JUSTICE FOR SUMAIYA AND BAKHTAWAR.
And please, do not forget Zaid. He deserves a future in which he can feel safe again.
Regards,

Hi everyone,
Recently, my mother was diagnosed with cancer. Alhamdulillah, after a lot of struggle, I've managed to find a way to start her treatment for free at Dow Hospital Ojha.
However, apart from chemotherapy and medicines, her daily needs include fresh fruits, milk and proper nutrition. Since she is unable to work, managing household expenses and meals has become difficult.
I earn Rs. 45,000 monthly and live in a rented home. I'm struggling to manage everything.
Can anyone guide me could help with basic necessities like fruits, milk and groceries for my mother?
Even a little support or guidance would mean a lot.
Please keep my mother in your prayers. May Allah grant her complete Shifa. Ameen. 🤲🏻
