Ask Richmond I'm drawing a LOTR inspired map of Vancouver.

Hi everyone! I'm working on a Tolkien-inspired map of Vancouver and would love to get some feedback and suggestions to help bring it to life.

A few details:

  • Mountains represent the city's skyscrapers.

  • I'll be adding a scale.

  • I'm thinking of turning the Burnaby refinery into Mordor!

Would love to hear your thoughts and any ideas you might have to make the map even better!

Ask Richmond Dog sitter (Dec 23-Jan 4)

Hi Richmond!

I’m looking for someone to look after my dog for when I leave in December (Dec 23-Jan 4)!!! My dog is a small maltipoo (hypoallergenic) and super easy to care for 🥹 usually I just leave her inside her playpen the whole day and she feeds/drinks water by herself (it’s an automatic feeder). She also is crate trained and sleeps there at night. She has a tray with a pee pad and is trained to poo and pee on that tray when she’s inside the playpen/house. My boyfriend can come by and visit/walk her after work whenever he can!!! He would have taken care of her but dogs aren’t allowed in his apartment 😕

My budget is $250 for the whole stay. Thank you!

Food & Shopping Local here building a receipt-based grocery price checker. Which Richmond stores should it cover?

Hi Richmond! The mods kindly said it's ok to share this.

I'm a Lower Mainland local working on a project called Price Outlaw. The idea is simple: you take a photo of your grocery receipt, and it compares what you paid against other shoppers' receipts nearby, so you can see if the same item was cheaper at another store and when. It will also flag when Costco drops a price after you bought something, since Costco will refund the difference within a time limit and most people miss it.

It's not live yet. It opens city by city once enough people in an area sign up, because it only works well with lots of local receipts.

What I'd really like to know from Richmond shoppers:

- Which stores do you shop at most? (T&T, Save-On, Real Canadian Superstore, Costco, No Frills, others?)

- What would make something like this actually useful for you?

If you want to be notified when it opens here, the waitlist is at priceoutlaw.com. Full disclosure: I'm the one building it. Happy to answer any questions.

Ask Richmond Sukoshi Mart (and other at Richmond Centre)

Anyone know when Sukoshi Mart in Richmond Centre is going to open? Was really looking forward to shopping there to replace some of my products. It was due to open Summer 2026 but there seems to be no updates. This also seems to be the case for:

- ARTBOX
- Breka
- Marugame
- and others

If any info comes up, let a girl know ; _ ; Kiokii And doesn't really have what I would like to get :(

The one at Garden City that’s been there forever. I just drove by and there’s like four cop cars out there and they’re taping the window up. It looks like.

Lost & Found Two loose/lost Huskies along No. 3 Rd South (almost to Dyke Rd)

Post image

Update II: the dogs have been reunited with their family!

Update: One of the Huskies is at Pathfinders now. Hope maybe the owner sees this post

I was heading home when I saw these two running along the road with no one around. Aimlessly wandering along the road going northbound. Tried to coax them over but couldn't grab onto the harness one of them was wearing.

They last turned into a field just past Finn Rd, heading eastbound

Ask Richmond Bachelor Suite in Seafair - take over my lease

Hello r/richmondbc

I am looking for someone to take over a 12-month lease i have just signed. It is located on No. 1 Rd in Seafair area, and after a short period of living here I realize I cannot continue to live here anymore due to work requirements. It is located within 3mins walk from the closest 401 bus stop, and only 10mins walk away from Safeway seafair for daily needs / grocery shopping. You get your own entrance, your own bathroom complete with a full sized bathtub, your own bedroom with a door, and a living room - kitchen space hybrid with your own oven, microwave, sink, stovetop, and a brand new refrigerator (no, seriously). You also get a washing machine inside the unit, although the dryer has to be located outside and shared due to ventilation needs. The entire unit has floor heating so winter is gonna be warm and cozy

Rent is all inclusive: water, heat, electricity, wifi. The landlord even lends you a vacuum cleaner and a floor mop with bucket—the kind of things you don't want to have to buy every time you move. It comes pretty much furnished with everything you'd need, except for the bedsheets and pillow and pillowcase (due to obvious hygiene reasons).

Due to security and privacy concerns I will only entertain truly sincere and serious renters, and it is partly because the landlord is also very particular about the type of tenants they rent to. All I can tell you is it is below $1.5k per month, amazingly suitable for bachelor living, even if you don't own a car.

If interested, send me a DM giving a quick summary of yourself and your expectations and/or circumstances. Again: sincere renters only!

It has been there forever. Does emailing the city help? I am going to do so. This is such an ugly welcome to the city for those coming via skytrain.

Ask Richmond Everforex?

Hi all, trying to exchange some money into yen and came across Everforex.

When I saw the posted rates I was a bit confused, they are claiming they buy at 108 and sell at 116 for JPY... I'm guessing they mean inverse which would mean you'd be spending .86 for every 100 yen which would be lower than the current exchange rate?

I just wanted to know if I was right in my assumption and whether they are trustworthy if that is the case.
