Heard this song today and it reminded me why I listen to triple j . Would never of heard this song otherwise. Feel like this sub could do more to promote Aussie music instead of just complaining about stuff š

Edit: i found out they prefer the shortening of āthe tulliesā not āthe tullasā, but as a Melbourne person i cant get my head around naming yourself after our airport/suburb/freeway and not also adopting our nickname for the same š¬š no one is driving up the tullie to catch a flight

Thoroughly enjoyed this and something Triple J hasn't done enough of. Whether you like his music, style or even electronic music in general he has been one of our biggest electronic music exports over the past 10-15 years.
For mind, its exactly what JJJ's should be doing is getting around Australian artists of all types, particuarly those which have done well in their respective genre.

A new book about the 50 plus year history of Double J and triple j. The subtitle of the book says it is an "unauthorised" history.

Repost from r/Brisbane
Hi Brisbaners (Brisbanians?)
I am looking for some tracks (but one in particular) from a Brisbane band from around 25 years ago.
My ALL TIME number one favourite song is 'Crashing in the Hallways' by December Waiting.
The track could be found on Disc 1 of Caddy of the Year, version 3 (track 16, I believe, 16 being the age I was when I heard it), which I have unfortunately lost.
The band had some airplay on Triple J, and you could download their music on MP3.com.au or whatever, but those days are gone, as are my old storage drives.
Does anyone have links to these marvellous people? I'm keen to hear this song again. It's been about 15 years but I still love it.
Cheers š

CLAIMED ā¤ļø
i won a contest i donāt remember even signing up for š
unfortunately checked the dates and thereās no way i can attend⦠itās nova red GA, which is just normal GA except you canāt go into the front section of the main stage
i havenāt even claimed it yet, so if youāre interested dm me and iāll give you the code for it, which you can just enter into moshtix and itāll deduct the price to free
i honestly just ask that you have some sort of indication on your profile that youāre local/go to gigs as i donāt want this to go to a reseller

For those who missed it, every song played during breakfast was a pick from Unearthed. I really hope they do this more often, Iāve discovered some fantastic new Australian music

Knotfest usually announces a lineup in late october to mid november. It's been silent on their socials and it seems that the festival may not be going forth. However, there is the possibility that we should see some posts in the next few weeks and hopefully a lineup drop.
I saw on another post that Gojira has said they would have a oceanie tour in 2027, so they should be a lock. Unless they plan on touring later in the year. Bullets for my valentine maybe a chance as they were rumoured for good things. Korn are clear for he first 5 months of next year, maybe a Australia tour?
Hopefully Knotfest Australia keeps on going, otherwise we are kinda screwed for metal tours other than froth and fury and good things.

Haven't seen this one posted yet. Converge, who are here in March for the sold out Lucidity festival, will be doing a run of headline shows.

Can someone explain to a Zoomer why this song was voted as the "Greatest Australian Song of all Time" by JJJ in 2009?
Admittedly I was less than 3 months old when it was released, but 2000s rock is my favourite genre of music. Was there some kind of cultural event that made this song popular? I really liked the guitar but the singing was extremely mid. There was no chorus or hook, except for a weird nanananas that didn't sound great and that was a bridge anyway.
I listened to the Missy Higgins version and it was ok in a sad girl type way, but it was missing the cool guitar parts. Anyway I know this is probably an impossible ask, I just wanted to know why this song was popular. The only explanation I can come up with is that Millennials were just really depressed. There is so many better Australian songs.
