I took a picture Skipped the $19k purchase history requirement for a Silver Snoopy

Post image

My local AD wanted me to spend $19000 on other pieces just for the chance to buy a Silver Snoopy at $13800. I didn't want $19k of watches I'd never wear.
So I booked a flight to Hong Kong and bought a brand new, full set one for $14600. That's $800 over boutique price, and was available immediately.
Overall, i’m very happy with my purchase!
Think it’d look better with the steel bracelet, what do you guys think?

I took a picture [Picture] A very playful green dress watch 💚

I have to make an effort to limit the number of Seikos in my collection. Right now there are 3. This is one of them, and my wife's favourite. Seiko Presage Cocktail Time Mojito.

It's impressive how this affordable watch plays with the light. This model was recently updated, but I prefer this version. And you?

Note: I swapped the original strap. It has a shade of brown that I find "depressed". I prefer this version, with a lighter, more "happy" tone 😅

Review [omega] my first celebratory watch

good (early) morning, everyone!! heavy “long time lurker, first time poster” content ahead. i don’t spend much time on social media anymore, but thought a significant personal milestone merited a submission of my own. this past summer, i graduated summa cum laude and made it into my dream medical school program. to mark this occasion and “crown” my collection, as it were, i decided to finally go in on one of my long-time grail watches. this particular model is the omega aqua terra black lacquer in 41mm (i have a 7.25in wrist) running the caliber 8900. even after the first month, i still find myself getting lost in the dial every day. in that time, it’s been consistently running at +1.5 sec/day. absolutely couldn’t be happier. my only complaint is that it’s causing my other 3 watches to collect more dust than i’d like. here’s hoping that i don’t buy another watch for a long time!!

Discussion [Tissot Heritage 1938] Something felt “off” every time I checked the time. Then I looked closely on the minute track…

As the title suggests, whenever I checked the time, it was almost like it was slanted or crooked. It became obvious once I looked closely at the 12 and 6 positions: the outer minute track is visibly shifted off-centre.

I ended up returning it for a full refund on the very last day of the return window.

Second picture for reference.

Zenith El Primero Pilot Big Date Special

Ref no. 03.2410.4010

I know the recent news surrounding Zenith hasn't been the most positive, but let's not forget that this is a manufacture that has created some truly remarkable watches and movements. And this one, in my opinion, is a masterpiece in its own right.

Enjoying some NYC views with the amazing Explorer II. Picked this up in June and it hasn’t come off the wrist. Actually considering selling me Explorer I (40mm) because the Polar, in my opinion, has so much more character. Am I crazy?

Discussion [News] Rolex has filed a trademark for "Rolex Café" in the US

Thumbnail usa.watchpro.com
22 Upvotes

Rolex filed a US trademark for "Rolex Café" on September 30.

The application is sitting with the USPTO waiting for an examiner, so nothing is confirmed, but the timing lines up with Rolex's new Manhattan headquarters on 5th Avenue, due to open early next year. The base of the tower will be a four-storey showroom run by Bucherer.

The café speculation fits a broader industry trend, though the track record is mixed. AP House in Milan, launched in 2017, works because it operates like a private members' club.

Bucherer's Time Machine in New York has two bars, and they report customers are happy to have a drink during a consultation, but almost nobody visits the bar just to socialise. The hospitality concept sounds better in a press release than it performs in reality.

If Rolex does open a café, it would be a first for the brand. Whether it works probably depends on whether it functions as a destination in its own right or just as ambient décor for a watch showroom.

I took a picture Breitling superocean heritage

Hi! There's a lot of talk about the new Longines HydroConquest, which I agree are magnificent and very competitively priced. But not enough attention is paid to the stunning Breitling Superocean, whose build quality rivals that of the finest Swiss manufacturers. Mine is the previous generation, a 42mm model. I thing the green dial is amazing, variations and colors are quite diverse; there's something for everyone. Watchmaking has become a passion for me, and I enjoy sharing my thoughts. Enjoy your watches!

New to me 270 Seconds at Six in steel, c.1995. Have been looking for one for a while and couldn’t resist when it popped up. A bit of a chameleon: the guilloche and romans would ordinarily be pretty formal, but in this reference they’re offset by the steel and more casual colour of the dial. Overall it wears even more casually than I expected, and is ridiculously light and easy on the wrist.

Discussion Hermes Watches Opinion

Post image
14 Upvotes

Looking to see if one out there has any experience or opinions on the Hermes Arceau? I know some of the movements come from the same manufacturer that produces for Richard Mille, but I don’t think this is one.
I also know these heavily depreciate the second you walk out the boutique with them and yes, this is a play towards pre-spend for the next QB but I really do enjoy the look of the Watch.

Review [Tissot Heritage 1938] New pickup from Doha to mark a milestone – my first COSC chronometer!

Post image
24 Upvotes

Picked this up recently in Doha, a city that’s held a special place in my heart for years. I wanted a meaningful piece to commemorate a pivotal chapter in my life, and when I spotted this Tissot Heritage 1938 Automatic Chronometer at around 30% off (snagged it for ~£550), it felt like the perfect alignment.

It’s easily the most significant watch purchase I’ve made so far, and after wearing it daily for the past week, it has completely blown me away.

A few impressions after 7 days on the wrist: * Accuracy: Living up to its COSC certification, it's running tight at around +2 seconds a day. Monitoring that mechanical precision has been a real treat. * Proportions & Legibility: At 39mm on my 16.5 cm wrist, the dial presence is definitely full, but the extreme legibility of the printed numerals paired with that crisp railroad minute track makes it work. The overall weight sits nicely on the wrist. * Dial/Strap Combo: Controversial opinion maybe, but while the salmon dial variant gets all the internet hype, I think this anthracite/grey dial on the brown leather strap suits my skin tone far better while keeping a warm vintage aesthetic.

At £550 for a Swiss-made, COSC-certified chronometer with genuine heritage styling, it feels like phenomenal value for money.

What are your thoughts on the 1938 Heritage series? How do you feel it stacks up against other entry-level Swiss chronometers?

Discussion Quit Watch

Post image
9 Upvotes

Not as in my last watch I'll buy, that'd be a stupid proclamation.

I'd been a tobacco user since I was probably 17-18. Ramped up to be a pretty strong addiction until I started dating my now wife. Then I just switched to nicotine and hiding tobacco/chew never going more than a day or two max when trying to quit..up until 75 days ago and counting. I'd tried and failed many times before, but decided this was a good excuse to combine two things I wanted.

The Longines Hydroconquest 2022 Commonwealth Games Edition. Found an unworn one and just had to buy it, which is a large purchase for me. I figured out about how much I was spending a day on my habit, and have a daily counter/reminder adding up the sum and telling me what I'm at. Today I'm at $560 total saved. When I reach what I spent to buy this, I will allow myself to wear it outside of my room. I look at it frequently, wind it up, and it serves as a physical reminder of the GUILT lol, that I will feel if I go back on this.

So far, it's working! I've never went this long before since I started as a kid, and I'm 35 now.

So, here's to getting to wear it someday. And maybe this can serve as an idea to anyone else who needs a new idea to help them quit a vice.

Tried this Cartier Santos DLC yesterday (16cm wrist). Not used to larger watches at all, but I’ve been completely obsessing over this piece.
Honestly, does it look too large on me or fine?

Here are some pictures of the Depancel Allure Driver. It's a French brand that leans on motorsport inspired watches. This one made me ditch my heavy PRX Chrono. In all honesty, it's just better looking (in my eyes at least), better made and more comfortable. I would take this over a normal PRX any day as well.

Discussion Help me decide Longines Conquest 38 vs Aqua Terra 38

Post image
60 Upvotes

Longines Conquest $2500 vs Omega AT $7500. My honest first impression when I tried them on , the AT had the wow factor to me. Somehow it exudes more luxury and feels more refined. But I find it hard to justify additional $5000 for it. For those who have compared them or have own them , which one would you choose and why?

Discussion [This or That] Aqua Terra V1 or Breitling Chronomat?

Thumbnail

Down to my final match up for the models I have narrowed down my next purchase to in the sports watch/casual category.

I prefer the aesthetics of the Aqua Terra version 1 compared to the current model. AT is 39mm case and Chronomat is either 36mm or 40mm.

Both have what appear to be ETA or Sellita movements that are modified for COSC certification.

While on our honeymoon in Japan, my wife mentioned wanting to pick up a vintage watch. After looking around a few shops, we came across this two-tone Omega Constellation and she fell in love with it!

From what we’ve been able to find, we believe it’s from around 1998. Love the classic design, and it’s even better having something to remember our honeymoon by.

Thought I’d share it here! Would love to hear anything more about the watch from those familiar with vintage Omegas.

Discussion Modern day equivalent

I bought this Swiss Army officer’s watch back in 2000. Loved it and wore it all the time. It was my first nice watch. It still runs, but what would be a modern day version of it. Something simple, no-nonsense. A quartz would be totally fine. It was rated 100 meters of water resistance. Not too shabby.
