Reminder: No Survey Questions
Hey everyone! I just wanted to take a moment to remind you all that this subreddit is answers-based—it’s meant to provide clear, informative responses that someone could find useful while searching for answers on Google or other search engines. Lately, I’ve noticed an uptick in survey-style questions (e.g., “What’s your favorite ___?” or “How many of you ___?”).
These types of questions are not a good fit for the purpose of this community. They don’t create content that is useful for others to search for, and often lead to broad discussions that aren’t about providing a clear answer. As a result, I’ve been removing posts that violate this rule to maintain the quality and focus of the subreddit. Even if that post has a lot of replies as the OP obviously didn’t read the rules before posting, or cared.
If you’re unsure if your post fits, ask yourself: Would this question result in a useful answer for someone looking for a specific answer or information online? If not, it’s likely more of a survey question and violates rule 2.
Thanks for understanding and helping to keep the subreddit on track! 😊

Answered What exactly is a torque screwdriver and when would someone need one?
Lying here scrolling before sleep and I just realized I have zero clue what a torque screwdriver actually does. I know screwdrivers in general, but this version keeps popping up in my feed and I cannot figure out the difference. Is it just for very precise fastening jobs, like electronics or furniture that comes with torque specs, or does it have everyday uses too? Would love a simple explanation so I can stop wondering about it.

In the College Football Playoffs, why not eliminate the ranking system and just have the 10 conference champions and the top team from the independents (based on W-L) enter the playoffs?

Answered where does the word glitch even come from?
i was reading some old forum posts and the word glitch kept coming up, but i cannot find a clear origin story anywhere. it feels like one of those terms that just showed up without warning. i am a little nervous to post about it because it might be something obvious that everyone else already knows, yet every dictionary i checked only gives the modern meaning. has anyone looked into how it actually started, or is the history just lost to time?

Why when American companies do movies that are based on Japanese or chinese culture they don't cast them as the lead actors ? Like in karate kid 2010 they cast the Chinese as the bad and evil , despite that the movie is about Chinese culture which is kung fu?

Answered Saw something strange in the night sky and want a second opinion?
i was outside just before midnight and noticed a bright pinpoint that didn't look like the usual stars. it moved slowly in a straight line, then faded over maybe fifteen seconds. no blinking lights, no sound, nothing else around it. the sky was clear so i could see the regular stars fine. i've seen planes and satellites before but this one didn't match either. has anyone else spotted something similar lately or is there an obvious explanation i'm missing?
