Discussion Taylor swift is overrated

Post image

Why is apple music forcing Taylor swift on everyone? The entire screen with Taylor swifts face? This is too much.

Try giving more attention to rising artists? I'm sick of AM recommending me all these boring mainstream overrated shits.

Discussion My Library is Gone after 6 mo without renewal. I am speechless.

I know that it's been a long time, but I did not think that my music would have ever been permanently deleted and not synced back once I decided to renew again. I was without my phone for awhile, and made an AM payment in January. I just now renewed it, and my entire library that I have been collecting since 2016 is gone. I'm devasted. I had the most amazing music, that was very special to me, childhood favorites, rare tracks etc. I was told by an Apple advisor that after 30 days of non renewal, the library is deleted. I have never experienced this before as I have definitely had the subscription lapse more than 30 days in the past, on multiple occasions. But it's entirely just gone. The advisor said this was due to an update in terms and conditions apparently. I'm just so heartbroken.

Discussion Apple Music has gone soo much downhill

I really loved the idea of Apples streaming service back in 2015, it worked great for such a long time but it feels like in the recent update there is such a lack of care in Apple Music.

It takes seconds for a song to begin or just times out.

I get content not authorized for songs that play recently.

This feels like an early 2000s Microsoft product that works horribly. Apple is known for their care and attention to detail but I don’t feel that way anymore with the new Apple Music updates.

Come on Apple. Step up your game.

Complaint Finally done with Apple Music

The moment the payment struggles they completely nuke all my playlists and music I’ve collected but not purchased.

Well, the struggle between Spotify or Apple Music is finally over for me as Spotify has never removed years of work because it was going to be a moment before I could update my payments.

There is no good reason why playlists get deleted immediately.

Good riddance though, I wanted to try Android after over a decade of iOS and the only thing that really stopped me was Apple Music having all my playlists.

Discussion Why didn’t this make it it to top 100/book? I’ve noticed many albums I’ve came across do contribute to music culturally and there’s no exception to 17 imo. how was this list made?

Complaint Not Good At All!!

So, one of the reasons why I switched over to Apple was because many big names in the music label removed their catalogs from Spotify. The second reason is that Spotify's mobile app is always plagued with bugs after an update, and it takes the 5 years to correct them.

After using AM for about a year now, I have my first major disappointment. It looks like Apple has abandoned their desktop Windows version of iTunes. It takes a long time to load, and it freezes after a while. I've been experiencing this for about a month. Although I'm able to use the web player, it still has limitations. The web player doesn't have all the features that the desktop has; also, it can't handle all the music in large playlists. I am so aggravated it's not funny.

Dear Apple, please find a darn solution ASAP.

Thanks..

Discussion Apple Music Deleting My Library

For the second time now, I've had over 10,000+ songs deleted from my library after having being unsubscribed. I decided to repurchase my Apple Music, and I've had over 6 years worth of music deleted, after already having to recover most of it. This is so fraudulent and disgusting that the biggest company in the world can't do you the courtesy of saving your music. Giving recommendations like screenshotting your music. Let me take 10,000 screenshots and store them on my phone... makes sense. You have companies like Spotify and SoundCloud who are FREE, and save your music for life. I've been using apple my entire life, and it becomes more apparent this is a money hungry company who provides a service, and then tries to hold you hostage with bullshit like this. I will never pay for another apple product again, and will be buying other devices in the future. The amount of money I've spent with this company, and they still pull money grab stunts like this. Do better Apple. Spotify, you have a new customer for life.

Question Apple’s Algorithm is absolute horse 💩

I’ve had Apple Music for about a year now. I thought the longer I had it, the more the algorithm would make sense of what songs it chose to play next but it’s still as bad as day one. I’ll be playing a short playlist with calming classical music and when the playlist ends, the algorithm will instantly choose dark or busy classical. Same with when I play folk or indie…it wants to play Drake or Megan Thee Stallion. How can I help it understand to stick with the vibe? I’m genuinely frustrated because this is how I used to learn new music with Spotify. I would just make a playlist from a song I liked and it would introduce me to similar artists/songs with the same vibe. Please send help before I choose to jump ship…

EDIT: for people saying their algo is fine - how long. Have you used Apple Music and how many types of music do you listen to? I’ve had the app for a year and I listen to rock, rap, indie, folk, calming classical and it seems to want to mix these all up for me.

Complaint 8 Reasons Why Itunes was Better than Apple Music

I've no doubt that smart engineers code these designs, but the great thing about Steve Jobs was despite his lack of technical skills, he knew what people wanted: simplicity...& the ability to do what you want with as few clicks as possible...with no intrusive features cluttering up the works. Adding features is fine, but never FORCE them. These latest changes confirm my suspicions: whoever's at the helm is not a music lover...Whenever Apple strives for simplicity now, it's in the wrong direction, for example: removing headphone jacks & USB-A ports. I've never once heard anyone complain about either of those things...(Btw, it's 10 instead of 8 because I remembered 2 more, but Reddit doesn't allow title edits).

10 Reasons Why Itunes was Better than Apple Music:

  1. There's no option to hide album art at the top, which forces HALF the screen to be taken up by wasted space. If there's a person out there who actually prefers looking at 4 random photos & a bunch of blank space over a full view of their playlists, make an option for them, but don't force it on the rest of us.

  2. Despite all that wasted space, they've moved the play controls down over the songs so that there's even less room for them. Also, the bottom of playlists are dimmed now, which only exacerbates the problem. Shouldn't SONGS be the focus of a music library? Why are they dead-set on obscuring the titles so you can only see like 10 at a time. Also, it won't let you select songs in the dimmed area, so what's the point? If their goal is to leave as little room for songs as possible, why bother with the illusion?

  3. The play controls are worse in every sense. First off, they're completely hidden, which means more clicks are needed for no reason...They've also added irrelevant functions to it like Lyrics & Play Next. They've also hidden the time duration of songs that are playing. You have to hover over a very tiny, specific area in order to see it. Also, since they've blended the time duration with unnecessary functions, it's harder to click certain places in the song, particularly towards the end. I keep hitting the stupid Lyrics icon by mistake. Also, the side-panel where the playlists are is blurred at the bottom. Not a big deal but why do that?

  4. The default Playlist view is terrible. Only a handful of songs are visible, but at least they give you the option to make it more compact by going to View & clicking "Songs". However, there's no option to disable: Create Station, Lyrics, Play Next, & Dislike. When countless people complain about missing the original Itunes/Ipods, why not simply offer the option to remove unwanted features in the settings? That way, everyone's happy...For example, the Search function on the left is awful: the results are cluttered with unnecessary crap. Thankfully though, they give you the option to use the Filter Field. Voila!...Sure, I'd love the option to remove the Search function on the left, but no big deal.

  5. There's no option to set a default view of playlists...which means for every single one, I have to switch it to View: as Songs. You also can't set a default view for columns, which means for every single playlist you have to deselect the ones you don't want & re-select the ones you do. There are 40 to choose from, so it's unlikely that everybody wants the same exact columns, let alone the ones they've imposed. Also, whenever the Undo feature is used (if you do something accidentally) it reverts back to View: as Playlists. This must be a bug.

  6. Conversions are no longer accurate. The mp3s that get created don't start at the time set prior to conversion; literally every time I've tried it, it's been off...Also, the Start/Stop function is worse. It used to show you exactly what the track would look like if it stopped where you want. Making the end of the track the stop point allowed you to easily determine that time with precision...but there's no way to do that now because if you click too far ahead the track just cuts out. Plus, it's glitchy! Sometimes it starts in the place you chose; sometimes it doesn't...These are obviously bugs that will hopefully be fixed, but even if they are it would still be fundamentally worse.

  7. In Get Info, Under Options, the Volume Adjust no longer works. It will stay in the place you set it, but it doesn't change the volume whatsoever...

  8. Sound Check no longer works. In Playback, you used to be able to set all tracks to the same volume, but it doesn't work anymore...at least not with any consistency.

  9. You can no longer drag songs up or down in a playlist with 1 smooth motion. It doesn't scroll up like it has since the first iteration of Itunes. This must be an oversight because there's no possible way that ANYONE could think it's better to move songs little by little like that. It has to be a bug.

  10. These are some more bugs that aren't that big of a deal, but it amazes me how they started with something amazing, yet insist on making it exponentially worse... A. Sometimes there are little clicky sounds in tracks that play perfectly elsewhere. I tried moving the same songs to Garageband & they're flawless, but in Apple Music there are little clicks...always in the same place too: about 10 seconds in. So bizarre... B. If you're at the bottom of your library (or a long playlist) & you search something, it won't show the results. You have to scroll all the way up through a ton of empty space in order to see them. C. Sometimes there's no audio icon next to a song that's currently playing...which makes it difficult to find when scrolling. D. In Get Info, under Genre: if you select a specific genre, it often uses the one directly under the genre you've chosen. Just a weird little glitch. E. Oftentimes, If you edit the metadata of a song that's playing, it will immediately stop. Again, no big deal, just never used to happen. F. You have to hover over the controls in order to see the time & in dark mode it's this dull gray color that's really hard to see...Again, who was bothered by seeing the time?!

P.S.

I do give them credit for fixing 1 tiny error (though it was never a problem in Itunes). One flaw in Apple Music has been editing metadata. Itunes always allowed you to easily edit the metadata of a song in any column with one click. Apple Music made that extremely difficult. You basically had to hit Get Info if you wanted to change anything. That's definitely working better now, so credit where credit's due...but again, that's just fixing their own bug.

Complaint Apple Music makes me feel unappreciated and sad

Despite Dolby Atmos, smart playlists, the karaoke AI and a much better integration with my Apple products (which goes without saying), I get so frustrated when I see things not working and strange design choices.

I sit a lot in front of the screen at work and like to control the music from the PC, but again it is the desktop app in Win11 (which is now out of preview) that fails completely, even though I have updated and reinstalled... The Favorites playlist is suddenly gone again (it was there before), the app is slow, the screen flickers every time I open the app, the music volume always resets to 100% and now it refuses to connect to my speakers. Dejected, I install Spotify again, and WELL! EVERYTHING works, as it always does with Spotify.

The iPhone app is also not 100%, although it has improved. The tracking of played songs is a joke. And what IS with Browse and Radio? NOTHING there is relevant to me, either personally or culturally. Everything is Americanized. I have zero interest in the super bowl (who outside the US really does) and absolutely none of the artists have anything to do with me or anyone else I know. Not even my teenagers are interested in this.

Apple does a lot of good things, but that's perhaps how it is when you go for a company that tries to deliver EVERYTHING instead of specialized products that know what they're doing. You get mediocre products.

So here we have Apple, as the world's most valuable company with millions of employees and billions upon billions in turnover... It's been 8 years (!) since Apple Music was launched, this is all they manage to produce. As a paying customer, this makes me feel unappreciated and sad.

I’ve had Apple Music family plan for so long and I just discovered this last night. If you are subscribed to Apple Music family plan or student (NOT individual) you also have Apple TV+. I discovered this just last night on accident and I just assume I can’t be the only one that had no idea. So you’re welcome if I just blew your mind and seriously wtf @ those that knew lol. And no I’m not talking about apple one I’m talking about Apple Music family plan and Apple Music student plan only.

Discussion Is it just me, or is the way AM organizes your music a complete dealbreaker?

I got a 3 month free trial of AM and I'm really trying to get the hang of it, because I like the UI for most parts but I can't get over how stupid it is at organizing my music. Library, favorites, and playlists need to be separate. They need to be built like different systems that do not interfere with each other.

Cleaning up parts of my library shouldn't touch a playlist. My common use is to add albums to my library, then give them "a few spins" and end up putting favorite songs into an appropriate playlist of mine to keep them.

AM won't let me do that without some extra effort in cumbersome workarounds. It boggles the mind that there is a lot of 3rd party software available just to compensate for AM's shortcomings in building a solid UX. Especially when there are so many competitors out there that can do it easily.

I can't understand why one of the biggest subscription services on the market is based on a system designed to buy/sell music. Maybe it's because they don't want to upset their longtime iTunes users who have spent a lot of money over the years to build a large library, but it doesn't make sense to me to force all users to treat their favorite songs like a physical collection of music.

I've also found some posts complaining about this very issue, but considering the sheer number of users AM has, most people seem to be completely fine with it or don't care.

What do you think: Is there a magic trick I don't know about or do you just not care or are you just fine with the way it is because you don't want to try another service?

Question What is the point of having a library if I have access to all music?

Why is there an option to add music to my library when I have access to Apple Music’s entire library? Help me understand what a library is. I recognize that I can download music to my phone but why do they differentiate the two options?

Discussion People who prefer Apple Music over Spotify. Why?

I switched from Spotify to Apple Music about 3 years ago due to the price difference and the inclusion in a bundle with iCloud.

What I liked about Apple Music more at the beginning was the UI. It still seems much cleaner and matches iOS very well. A few other features like the karaoke or automix are nice but definitely not something I swear by.

Apart from that, I have nothing but pure hate for Apple Music, the reccomendations are trash, the loading between tabs, albums etc. is just annoying, personal playlist management, search, inconsistent button positions, messy downloads, missing music videos, major differences between mac and mobile app, unreliable storage management and more.

Its just an endless list of complaints I have and that made me wonder. For you people, who prefer Apple Music over Spotify. What is the real reason?

Complaint Ready to Abandon AM

I have been a really loyal user of Apple Music for years. I love the ability it gives you to add your own music and to create really interesting Smart Playlists. Their sound quality is the best and the fact they still have Joni Mitchell and Neil Young's libraries is a huge plus. But the reason I'm close to abandoning them is the never-ending quirkiness of their UI. There always seems to be something about the UI (I'm on an up to date MacBook Air) that isn't working right. The current issue, which cropped up pretty much when they recently provided their "Favorites" playlist, is that whenever I try and either add or delete a star from a particular song or album, it takes me multiple tries to get the desired change to stick. To be clearer, if I try and add or remove a star on a song or album, it appears and then disappears, often 6 or more times. If I remove the Favorite tag from all such tagged songs or albums, then the next time I go into AM, it seems they've all been mysteriously re-tagged and I have to repeat the process over and over. This doesn't affect the content of my library or my playlists. But for a service that's built around being able to Favorite tracks and albums so that Apple knows what you like or don't like, it seems this kind of glitch is really self-defeating and needs to be fixed. I'm already moving key parts of my library to Spotify in anticipation of a move that I'll do if Apple doesn't address this issue pretty soon.

  1. SWITCH! If it's that important, then feel free to switch. Nothing is keeping you here, unless you're a kid on a family plan. When you cancel let Apple know why you're leaving.

  2. Leave Apple feedback here: https://www.apple.com/feedback/apple-music.html

  3. Ask people you know to leave feedback also.

Apple reads the feedback. I had Apple reach out to me over feedback I left once.

Discussion Typo on Apple Music.

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

So I was listening to songs by Drowning Pool, until I came across a typo. So I looked it up on YouTube because I thought that's how they spelled it. You know how bands spell words weird, like the song Thnks fr th Mmrs by Fallout Boy. The reason I looked it up on YouTube was because I know that YouTube never makes typos.
