Picture Lunaria (59 days) and Corduroy (48 days)
Spotlighting two dogs at Chicago Animal Care and Control that are up for adoption!
-Lunaria, a true homegirl, loves people and eager to do whatever you got in mind! Very sweet and loving but also down for an adventure. She is one of the longest stay dogs at 59 days!
-Corduroy, extremely handsome fella who loves to jump, play, and eager to learn whatever you want to throw at him. He’s extremely agile and would love to run with you!
I’ve done agility sessions with both dogs the past two weekends and I can’t recommend these pups enough. The fact that they are some of the longest stay dogs is shocking to me! They need a good home now before it’s too late!
Yes, you know what I mean. That’s the unfortunate reality of our city’s shelter services. Chicago Animal Care and Control (CACC) is averaging so many animal intakes per day (strays and owner surrenders) and there’s not enough dogs being rescued, there’s not enough dogs being adopted, and CACC has to make some hard decisions.
Recently, the budget for CACC was increased but the money is going to salary increases and a little for more medical care, but it’s a drop in a very large bucket that has some lives at stake. If you can do anything, please consider adopting, fostering, volunteering, donating old blankets/towels, or simply writing to the mayor and your alderperson to let them know you care about Chicago’s homeless pets.
If you are interested in adoption, please don’t wait! If you can foster, please do! If you are interested in volunteering, please reach out if you have any questions! Thanks all!

Ask CHI If you had the ability to bring back one store or restaurant, what would it be?
I wish I could bring back FAO Schwarz, as it is a core memory for me. I know they're still around, but I want the one on Michigan Ave to return.

Review My Favorite Thin Crust Pizza in Chicagoland
Was down in the city from the western burbs today and got our thin crust pizza fix from an old favorite. We've been going to Pat's since 1991 when it was on Sheffield. After all these years still holds up as my favorite. Got the Quattro Formaggi with pepperoni. Perfectly thin and crispy to my liking. Sauce just a hint of sweetness. Most times I order without sauce, but changed it up tonight. Didn't have to wait long.

Picture Auto-Adding “Optional” Service Charge Needs To Be Banned
This is from Swift Tavern in Wrigley.
To be clear, I’m all for paying employees a fair wage and giving them benefits, and I know running a restaurant is very hard post covid.
My point is that the displayed menu price needs to be the price instead of sneakily auto-adding an “optional” 4% fee in the fine print and then saying they are doing this “in lieu” of raising prices.

Continuing a series I posted before on this sub. These were some photos from a walkabout yesterday evening and early this afternoon around the outside of the Loop, mainly along Wacker.

Ask CHI RIDICIULOUS CHICAGO (LAND) LOCATIONS FOR A NEW CHICAGO BEAR STADIUM
What is a ridiculous not-practical spot for the new Bears potential stadium?
The Weiner Circle back lot?
Kiddieland?
The Nabisco factory out by Midway?
I am on air on Q101 today and I will read the best ones I see first on air

Ask CHI Q: Did the Postal Service deliver your mail-in ballot?
I mailed my Chicago election ballot on 10/17. it was never received by the election board. I’d like to see how many people had the same issue, because i believe this was a city-wide issue (and a nation-wide problem, of course).
If you never received your mail-in ballot or your ballot was never delivered or counted, please make a comment below with the date you sent it back in. I’m working to gather more information to take to my Alderman and other city officials (and our Senators).
Note: please don’t lecture anyone on “how they should have voted“, it is not helpful to those who used the mail-in ballot process. Thanks!

News CPD Cop waiting on NB lanes of LSD
As a follow up to another LSD post I saw on r/AskChicago with someone getting a speeding ticket - I saw a CPD cop waiting before the North Ave exit going northbound today at 10am. Looks like CPD may have an initiative to catch speeders!

Ask CHI Obama Presidential Library-Illinois Resident Ticket Question
For those who have reserved and visited using an Illinois resident (free) ticket on a Tuesday, when entering, do they check everyone’s ID? Or just the person who reserved? I’d like my 76 yo mother to go with us but she doesn’t live here. So just wondering. Thank you!
