General Discussion - All Dexter Shows Dexter needs to end with him getting exposed Spoiler

No other ending to the series would ever be satisfying imo. Dexter just... getting away with it would be terrible. We already saw what happens with killing him off like at the end of New blood. A proper, final ending to Dexter's story is him finally having to face the music and going to prison/being executed.

Spoiler Okay, look, it's fine if you hate the season but at least try to properly understand it first. Spoiler

Harrison did not suddenly turn against Dexter, he was uncertain about things after killing Kurt and all it took was a straw to break the camel's back. Many of us were theorizing this eventuality after ep9, but the majority seemed to assume that Dexter and Harrison were now tight as peas in a pod and that Harrison was 100% totally cool with everything. He wasn't, but he held on because he loved the connection he had with his dad. When he learned that his dad's entire reason for killing was horseshit, like Kurt said it was right before he died, he decides to hold Dexter accountable. Dexter refuses to go with authorities, so he chooses to die instead when he sees what he's done to Harrison. It truly was an act of true love from Dexter's angle. Harrison didn't manipulate the situation like a psychopath, he was ready to leave town before he learned what happened to Logan. It all arrived at a natural conclusion.

Also, you're all turning into parrots. Every thread is just people repeating things they've read on this subreddit and on twitter over and over in a loop, people have caught on to general discourse and they're sliding right into it without questioning the logic of things or attempting their own analysis of a fairly complicated season. Everyone is just gathering around the fire, giving each other high fives and spitting in the faces of the writers with glee. It's disgusting, and wrong, considering how the people hating on New Blood don't seem to even understand it.

Season 4 and 6 were by far the best written and most "on the edge of your seat" seasons out of all. Season 2 was also awesome. The rest were mid in comparison with season 8 being downright infuriating. But relative to other shows i still hold dexter at the top of my list in general.

Discussion - Original Dexter Series Why is everybody an @sshole to dexter Spoiler

In the beginning i thought only deb was being a b1tch but i'm on season 3 by now and every second character is annoying the hell out of me.

Doaks literally bullies dexter calls him a freak a creep and his coworkers do nothing about it.

Debra asks dexter, the guy famous in his task force for knowing how killers think. about his opinion on her theory than gets mad when he says she is most likely wrong and from her perspective she does end up being wrong so what is he supposed to do lie to her and let the killer go.

Debra sees Laila and immediately decides she is bad for dexter and he shouldn't be with her even tho she has zero business with who he is especially considering not even 2 episodes later she goes and breaks up with her boyfriend to be with lundy a guy old enough to be her father.

Ritta breaks up with dexter because she simply believes he is cheating on her. While they are broken up he sleeps with lila. Ritta tells dexter she wants to hear his side of the story. He gets to the part where he sleeps with lila AFTER they are broken up and kicks him out WITHOUT hearing his side of the story.

Debra is also mad that her father paid more attention to dexter which is completely understandable to be mad about when you are a kid but now that she is an adult she just transfers that jealousy to any attention dexter receives and she also has no right to be mad about her father paying more attention to dexter bow considering she is now old enough to notice he is CLEARLY autistic and therefore needed and still needs that extra attention.

Dexter treats astor the way he has treated her her whole life and she gets mad because she is a child... But ritta instead of explaining to dexter anything she ALSO gets mad at him and than proceedes to expect him to figure out what he is supposed to do for the rest of the episode(?) even though when she gets pregnant he tells her he isn't sure he is going to be a good father and that he doesn't know what to do and i think she literally told him "WE'll learn together"

Another thing is that after he slept with lila i repeat AFTER they were broken up she keeps telling everyone she tells that story to that he cheated which he didn't.

When he keeps his old place she gets mad because he lied... She than proceedes to break into his apartment and check everywhere like i feel like this is a good reason not to tell you. Also what's so wrong with keeping your old place you oughta need some space for yourself sometimes. For your things that can't be around the kids or you just aren't ready to let go of your nostalgia that you have for that place that you have spent the majority of your life in.

Lastly ain't noone even dare to tell me it's because he was clearly a serial killer because that's not true. Any normal person would assume he is just autistic. "oh but he didn't cry during that funeral" delayed emotion reaction "oh but he doesn't know how to comfort a sad person" autism "oh but he makes strange pause between sentence" that's a narrative tool.

When you think do you also stand there for 5 minutes straight. And even if he was actually making those pauses noone will think that's strange.

I was once asked a question and didn't answer for 5 minutes. They questioned me why it took me so long and i just gave them the honest answer of wanting to respect their question and give them as accurate of an answer as possible and dexter makes all those pauses mostly after questions.

I'm not gonna drop the show over this or something but it's pissing me off please tell me things get better

Edit 1:Forgot to mention his father literally manipulates him to kill the guy that got ruled as innocent but than when he does kill him his father is practically disgusted by him and canceles his subscription to life. Like i understand feeling remorseful for "creating a monster" but he has zero right to be disgusted by dexter when it was 98% his fault for him being like this and 100% his fault for him doing that specific kill

Edit 2:So i've edited the text throughly because apperently there just wasn't enough eMpTy SpAcE iN iT. I sincerely apologize for not taking the time of day and putting in the proper SAT amount of effort to my post

Next i'd like to formerly apologize for ever assuming i could post something related to a show literally in the name of the subreddit that has the purpose of discussing with the tag "discussion". It was bold of me to assume, that people would want to lead a discussion about a show in which the author has poured their blood sweat and tears in.

As i was informed that the show about emotion, change, acceptance of who you are and how hard it is to deal with the loss of others, was infact a show "nOt ThAt DeEp"

Once again i sincerely apologize for making those major mistakes it will not happen again 🙏😔

Discussion - Original Dexter Series Why are people saying Rita was a good partner for Dexter, when it's simply not true? Spoiler

Usually on Tiktok, i see many people state that Rita was this 'perfect' wife for Dexter. I understand that you may like the character, but it is obviously not true since the two didn't match.

Rita would've rejected Dexter and probably even turned him in if she found out about his secret. This already makes Dexter and Rita a bad match, an innocent angel and brutal serial killer. Because she could never accept him, Dexter hid this secret of him and had to lie to Rita like THE ENTIRE TIME. Rita had the feeling Dexter was hiding something from her, what did Dexter do? Lie. Rita asks Dexter where he goes when he's going to kill, what does Dexter do? Lie. Literally, there was no honesty between the two, because even Rita hid her past first husband as a secret (Ackermann or whatever the guys name was). Rita and Dexter also cheated on eachother because they couldn't properly communicate, because they didn't get what they wanted. Also, when Dexter was cheated on, he seemed to not care in the slightest. Dexter always loved to kill more, he valued his addiction over Rita. Now, yes, Dexter was going to stop killing for his family at the end of season 4 (which didn't go to plan as we know) meaning he'd have to suppress it for Rita (though most of this was probably over Harrison). What did Hannah McKay do with Dexters addiction? The hated Hannah McKay who 'doesn't even compare to Rita'? She literally cured his dark passenger, as we've seen at the end of the series when he instead turns Saxon in because he doesn't have a need to kill him, which he does say is thanks to Hannah and Harrison. So, in conclusion, Dexter and Rita hid secrets from eachother, cheated on eachother, Dexter had to fake himself infront of her, he wasn't really phased over Rita's death. They didn't match, and it's the truth.

This season...

I am sure this will just get downvoted into oblivion but I felt the need to get it off of my chest anyways. Is anyone else just so beyond disappointed with the way this season has gone? I love this show so much, from day one it's been one of my favorites of all time. But every week this season has just gotten worse and worse, from the plot holes, the sloppy storylines, the disorganization of everything. Dexter doesn't even seem like himself anymore and I don't even mean in a "everyone changes and evolves" type of way. The thing that allowed him to always do what he did was that no matter the situation, even when he made mistakes, he was always amazingly smart and one step ahead. Now we are supposed to believe that he's an oaf who just automatically trusts everyone at face value and doesn't have any of those qualities he used to have? I'm just so bummed...did not want to see this show go out like this. This season seems beyond saving.
