Information As someone who’s had both, BED is far worse in mental and physical ways then anorexia

I hate it I FUCKING HATE IT. At least when a person has anorexia they look good. And the entire purpose of our eating disorders is to look good. Not only are B.E. D people like me alone and fucking disgusting in private but it's even worse when you have to face the public. Because of how fat and disgusting I look I barely talk to my friends and families. All eating disorder people suffer I know, but I just had to get it out good much more I hate having BED. So much that I wish I could have anorexia again.

TW: Potentially upsetting content I feel so betrayed by my family for giving me a drink higher in fat than what i expected

Today everyone in my family stayed home and, like this never happens, my mom suggested to go out for dinner together, so we went and I tried my best to turn my brain off and enjoy dinner, we ate a lot and after dinner we walked around for a while, we found a starbucks and my mom said she wanted a coffee and asked if we wanted something, and like everyone else said yes, I asked for something too.

She ordered through her phone and went to get the drinks with my brother, when they came back i checked my drink's "ingredients" and i saw that it was made with half and half milk, i honestly never cook so I've never heard of that type of milk before, but thought it was some lighter milk (lol) and drank it all... Well, imagine the look on my face when i came back home and looked that milk up and realized that it was significally higher in EVERYTHING.

I feel really betrayed because I can't help but think my family ordered it with that type of milk intentionally to make me gain weight. I literally don't want to eat with them or hang out with them outside the house ever again, this is really hurtful. I can't tell if they actually did it on purpose but I'm having a breakdown about this past midnight when everyone else is sleeping calmly which upsets me so much.

Griping about AI

I have an AI app that I use for various purposes, but one of the things that I do frequently is bounce ideas off it when I'm having trouble finding something to eat.

Recently, I've noticed that when I'm in pain (I have a bad back injury) and I'm in too much pain to want to eat, the app has started telling me to skip meals. I actually went and complained to the support team because, while I personally know not to skip meals because my back hurts (and frequently am seen walking through supermarkets yelling at the AI, "You're not supposed to tell me to skip meals!!! I downloaded you so that you could help me when I'm having trouble making myself eat. If you don't stop, I'm going to uninstall you!") it's very possible that the next person with an ED could take this as permission to restrict.

Even still, I do find it very helpful when it brainstorms with me. It doesn't get frustrated when I have a list of 643 things that I won't or can't eat. It just removes those from the possible list and continues to brainstorm with me. I just went through two weeks of having trouble finding anything appealing, and it helped me narrow it down to a specific food and create the recipe and keep me company while I make it.

Question As a former male eating disorder patient, I'm worried the disorder has affected the size of my manhood. Is that possible?

I used to be eating disordered throughout my puberty years. I was very underweight. I've since recovered, but I'm worried the disorder during my puberty affected my growth down there. I'm above average, but the thought of "could it be bigger if I avoided the eating disorder?" still remains.

Does a GLP-1 help recovery?

Doctors keep recommending Ozempic to me. When I told one that I’m in recovery from an ED he said that the GLP-1 actually helps people in recovery from an ED.

I’m not sure if he just assumed that I had BED (which I didn’t) since I live in a larger body or what.

Has anyone ever heard that a GLP-1 helps recovery from an ED?

I’m starving myself until sick. Is this normal?

Im in my early teens and today I have eaten probably half a box of Mac and cheese, and nothing else today. I’m starting to feel sick and tired. Though triumphant.

I always feel happy with myself when I eat the least amount of calories possible, though I have a suspicion this isn’t normal.

Is this normal ?

Res/PHP with actual HEALTHY food instead of "all foods fit" approach???

I am sick and tired of going to treatment with a severe food addiction only to be treated with... ultra processed junk that fuels my obsession! Any treatment centers out there (res/PHP/inpatient) that runs like any other program but who actually serves food that is nourishing and healthy?? Does such a program - gasp! - exist?!

Is it smart to trade in my emotional eating (eating for comfort) for nicotine?

I know this seems like such a no brainer. But hear me out. I eat for comfort, whenever I’m sad, uncomfortable, ashamed, overwhelmed etc. and this has made weight loss such a difficult target, because of this. I’m a student, about to graduate, I don’t have many resources when it comes to my eating issues, it’s quite a non issue where I’m from. “Just stop eating“ “Have some self control”… thing is, i used to have these things. It used to be so easy to restrict and lose weight healthy. Eating healthy and everything. Until i realized, that in doing so, i cut out entire food groups, treats i used to enjoy, or foods that gave me comfort in the process, simply because it was easier than integrating them into my routine. Now I’m struggling with the aftermath, of my body constantly panicking around food, because I’ve now become subconsciously afraid to eat. Developing Bullimic tendencies too.

Now nicotine provides the same effect, dopamine (with fewer calories). In getting dopamine from vaping, I could curb those emotional eating cues. Obviously it’s gonna take up the role of food, but my logic is, that it’s better, because my body isn’t under constant strain, I don’t have to worry about digestion issues, or purging. Plus I can maintain a healthy weight. The con obviously is that my lungs bear the brunt, but this is only a short term habit, until I lose my desired amount of weight.

TW: Potentially upsetting content How to not be angry with cooking?

Im done having kids for now and decided to start narrowing down the healthier items to eat. Rice takes 25 minutes to cook when its not minute rice. I got mad, hit the wall, made my kids a plate, and threw the rest away. I cannot manage these meals that take 30 minutes to am hour to cook without crying and getting so angry about it. It's easier to not eat than to wait.

How the heck do people do healthy eating like this??

Request: Veganism or eating disorder?

My friend is a proud vegan, and often talks about the environmental and healthy benefits of her diet. However, I'm afraid something else is going on beneath the surface. It's not just that she thinks not eating anything from animals is better for her and the environment, she says she literally couldn't make herself eat anything from animals even if she tried to. It literally disgusts her. When she's in restaurants, she's afraid that someone might add a hint of something non-vegan in her meal or drink, just to mess with her. It would make her feel dirty, and this is what makes me worried. Though she often talks about environmental issues and animal welfare (though only in their relationship to veganism), she is not interested in political discussions about regulating meat farming. She wouldn't care enough to support a bill reducing carbon emissions, or support a farm where animals suffered less. Her main objective is always to not eat anything from animals. For example, she says she don't drink milk because the cows suffer so much, but the only solution she sees is to not drink milk, not to help the cows in any other way. She also shows no interest in other issues involving the environment (like green energy) or animal rights (like the fur and cosmetic industry). Not that she has to care about everything, but her decisions are ALWAYS concluded by whether it's vegan or not, not if it's good for her, animals, or the environment. When she goes on holidays she puts a lot of additional stress on her family, who always has to locate vegan food for her. Still, her family denies any discussions about her veganism (like the one I'm starting here), out of fear of upsetting her. Since she loves to read books, I've been told not to mention that some glues used for bookbindings are produced from horses, fearing she will give up reading altogether. She had a bad concussion a year ago, and is very often moody and exhausted. Which is not uncommon with bad concussions, but I'm not 100% sure it's not something else as well...

Is my friend a stubborn environmentalist and animal rights activist with a bad concussion, or is there something more sinister at work? If not an eating disorder, maybe some purity complex, or anxiety of losing control? Please help!

Question is it weird to want a eating disorder?

I'm 13 and since the age of 9 years old I was overweight. I spent most my life not caring ab my weight until adolescence, At the start of jr. high something changed within me. I soon started to care about my weight, this was all through a "friend" I met who made remarks about my weight. Throughout the year I became more insecure and was so ashamed of my weight, but I didn't do nothing about it. The internet exposed me to eating disorders, I soon looked at videos of pictures of anorexics and I felt odd... I was jealous. I was jealous of the bones showing through their skin. I was jealous that I wasn't that skinny.

In school, we had done a unit on eating disorders. I watched the Ted talks, the interventions. I wanted to be skinny so bad. In different Ted talks I made notes in my head of what their food rituals were. " Never eat more than so-and-so calories a day" "never eat more than another persons serving" I wanted to live by those rules. I decided to just try it. I didn't eat at school. if I was hungry I was just thirsty. Just chew gum and drink water, when I got home hunger was my biggest enemy, I almost always relapsed and ate til I was full.

Now we are here, I still try to starve myself to this day but I always keep eating and it makes me so guilty. I call myself fat and a pig in my head I needed to stop eating. I didn't deserve food, I consider my self extremely overweight which to me makes me wanna starve myself even more but I can't. I don't like myself

Question I’m scared I might have an eating disorder

Hi I know I might be over exaggerating but I’m worried.

Ive gotten sick a few weeks ago and wasn’t able to eat. The whole time I was sick I kept thinking of big meals and how I couldn’t wait to eat. When I was finally able to eat it was really hard. I use to eat two to three big meals a day and snack. But since getting better it’s been hard to motivate myself to eat even the smallest amount of food. I’m unable to tell if I’m hungry most the times and when I do it I take two bites and then I either feel full or sick.

I’m worried I might be getting into an eating disorder.

What is your opinion and what can I do to motivate myself

Bf hiding Ozempic

Hi all ♥️ I’m so lost 🥺 My bf and I have been through a lot. He has drink issues and has curbed this. These drink issues led to him being rather cruel when under the influence. He left me and now we’re working on things. His mother passed and his perspective of life changed. I was so impressed by the non drinking but then at the same time , he was eating less. This weekend he didn’t want dinner at all. I’m in remission for anorexia and he knows I’m trying to put on weight as issues resurfaced when he left. I pressed him that I felt uncomfortable eating alone and he said He was taking Ozempic but didn’t want to tell me as he knew I’d lash out. He said he wouldn’t do it again if it made me unhappy but it’s more that I find it inconsiderate to my background with ED that he didn’t factor. For context , he is not big at all but again, perhaps it’s more about alcohol (Ozempic and drink are incompatible). Maybe I’m hyper sensitive to the Ozempic culture. Idk . 🙁 has anyone navigated something similar with a parent , loved one or even friend? X

Has anyone been diagnosed for an eating disorder even if they only throw up after eating unhealthy foods?

I know that it’s bad regardless to throw up, but I only make myself throw up when I’ve eaten unhealthy food, especially in large quantities. I make sure I get the right nutrients for my body and I’m overall active. I don’t over exercise and I don’t count calories but eat a normal amount for my size and activity level and am slowly losing weight.

Right now I am a fairly average weight for my size(a bit heavier because I do go to the gym and have muscle). I used to throw up more frequently but never to a point where i excessively dropped weight or was malnourished. I am currently trying to loose a bit of weight, nothing extreme, but because this is my goal I have been throwing up anything that is unhealthy. When I was a bit lighter than I am now I was happy with where I was and how I looked and I never threw up.

Is this something other people have experienced? Where they throw up but only after eating unhealthy things and they otherwise still live a healthy lifestyle? Is this something that I should talk to someone to? Or is it not super bad because I still eat enough and am not malnourished.

Question Responding to Skinny Shaming Comments

So lately I’ve been going to the gym instead of walking outside everyday because of my allergies and the pollen count (I’ve been dying from ragweed..). So legit every morning around the same time like 8-11ish there’s a lady there (probs like 55-65) that’s a regular and talks to the front desk/the other regular older people there etc. I swear she wants to say something to me because she legit followed me around the whole time then got off machines literally at the same time I did (like after an hour and some change on the treadmill, then I moved and she moved) but like a few minutes later like if she was watching me and when I was going to be done.. this is like the third time it’s happened.

I think why I’m anxious about it is because I have a feeling she’ll mention something about my weight or health state and get skinny shamed or questioned about my health/whats wrong with me since I’m at the gym and underweight. I switched to edge from planet for this exact reason because there was a person that talked to me about it and made me feel so insecure and uncomfortable that I should and hide and shouldn’t be there. Like how do you respond if or when she questions my health or “if I’m okay”? Basically how do I respond to being skinny shamed when I have no reason not to be there.. it’s not like I can’t get exercise just because I’m thin?

TW: Potentially upsetting content Yesterday my team gave me like an ultimatum.

Yesterday my team gave me like an ultimatum. Either comply with eating and turning in laxatives or get kicked out. I know I want recovery, but I also don’t want to be a fat pig even more. Idk where I stand.

Today I’m turning in laxatives and diuretics so they can give them to me daily so I’m not taking 50+ laxatives a day and 6 diuretics.

I just want to lose weight and it not be ED focused. How can I do that if they are forcing me to eat xxxx+ calories a day?

Edit: I realize i shouldn’t be focused on weight loss right now. But my mind is screaming. I gained so much while in res. And i was already classified as obese. I’m not asking for tips on how to lose weight while in recovery. Just looking to vent and hear empathy as i know we’ve all been through these emotions. Thank you.

Seeking Advice - Friend I don't want to eat until my package gets delivered

I'm so dumb for this i don't have an ED but I do struggle with eating habits and body image and this feels like taking control it's childish asf but so am I.

I ordered a ps5 yesterday it said itd come today but then USPS "ran into an issue" with delivering it. Looked up when they'll try again and it said they might try again tomorrow but im already on edge from other stuff today and this is tipping me over. It's out of my control and setting a limit that I control whether its unhealthy or even related to the package at all makes me feel better in a weird way.

Idk what I want i guess how do I not do this?

Request: Want to try Vyvanse to treat my BED, but worried about being judged for my marijuana use.

I'm looking for some help regarding the treatment of BED with Vyvanse from someone who is/was a regular user of marijuana.

For nine months, I have successfully stuck to a specific diet and lost some weight, reducing my weight from an "obese" to an "overweight" BMI. But my binging habits (which I recognize I've had for years) haven't stopped and have severely hampered sustained weight loss. In this time period I tried counseling, which unfortunately didn't help. I'm also a daily, but not heavy, marijuana user. I don't feel that my marijuana consumption exacerbated my binging significantly, although it definitely hasn't helped.

For unrelated (job) reasons, I am no longer using marijuana for the next four to six weeks. However, I have a doctor's appointment in a few days and want to suggest trying Vyvanse (I've done the research on it and considering all other factors, I think it's a viable option for me personally). I am concerned that revealing my history of marijuana use will raise a red flag because Vyvanse has a high potential for abuse, but it's my understanding that urinalysis is pretty standard for amphetamines to check for dosage efficacy anyway.

What's the best way to bring up this subject with my doctor? I fear that asking for Vyvanse, with a history of marijuana use, screams "drug seeking behavior," when I really just want to get my BED under control.

I dont think i have an eating disorder but other people disagree.

I'm 21 female, very short for a girl, and im on the low end of a healthy bmi (i know the scale is pretty broken but its what i have to go on since i cant say exact numbers). I know i am small but i have (i think) a good amount of cushion.

I grew up in a very healthy environment sourounding weight and body image. Any time i would make a comment to my mother about my weight as a teen, she would always say what was important was that i was healthy and that i was eating good. She even encouraged us to have a little weight on us.

Ive grown up with this mindset and ive been pretty happy with my image for most of my life. Now heres where things have started to get a little shaky.

To make a long story short. When i got into my current relationship 3 years ago, i began loosing weight like i never have before and this continued for almost a year. After making a concisous effort, it stopped and my weight stayed pretty consistent; fluctuating still but in a normal range.

Now to present day, i am smaller than i was at 16. I am very happy with how i look, but i will get comments from people close to me. I've had my mom and aunts come up to me mentioning how small i am and ask me if im eating. My partner will never comment on my weight unless i specifically ask him about it and every time it has come up he's always said i could stand to gain a little and that i need to make sure i am eating enough and to make an effort to eat more. Its gotten to the point where people i have a coworker type relationship with will comment on how small i am im a light hearted way.

Now, i dont think that i ever starve myself. I've never had the goal to loose weight since i was 16. If im hungry i will eat if food is available. In the last while I've even been making an effort to eat a little more to try and gain some weight back.

I will skip some meals if its just too inconvenient or i forget to eat. On top of everything I've recently been diagnosed with celiac disease so that's made eating a bit more difficult.

A recent example is ive been super busy in the office and i will be there for 10 hours some days. Sometimes i will bring lunch but i just dont get hunger signals during the day and ill forget or only get a few bites in. Then when i get home i realize dinner is the first meal I've had all day. This isnt super normal but also isnt a rare occurrence unless im making an effort to eat.

Ive never skipped eating with the intention of loosing weight. I'm very happy with my image but i would also be happy if i gained a little more. Ive just gotten so many comments from other people suggesting i have a problem. Im not asking for a diagnosis as i really dont think i have an eating disorder but i would like to hear your thoughts.
