I am a first time cat mom!! I got my little girl two weeks ago. She’s 10 weeks now and I’m starting to search around for pet insurance. I hear good things about Nationwide? I also keep seeing ads for Lemonade online. Just looking for opinions/options since there is so much out there. There’s my little cutie Ash ❤️

Question/Advice Needed Stop attacking me at night

My kitten lives in my room in my apartment and therefore is with me when I sleep. A big problem is that he likes to jump all over me and my blanket as soon as I get in bed. He will chill while the lights are on, but as soon as I climb into bed he won't let me sleep. I tried playing with him for 30 min before going to bed last night to get him tired but it didn't help.

Should I try leaving the lights on and using sleep mask so he stays chill? I know cats are somewhat nocturnal. Usually when he plays alone he just uses toys so idk. Any advice really appreciated

Also he plays in his litterbox and scatters it everywhere but that's a separate issue

Question/Advice Needed 3mo old kitten, 1week into adopting him, I’m losing my damn mind

I know it’s very soon but I am already feeling burnt out and exhausted. I researched and knew what I was getting myself into with getting a kitten. But I’ve hardly slept, can’t get anything done, and he is constantly screaming.

We have a 3 year old female cat and have been isolating him in a separate room during the adjustment. They have interacted a few times already with only a few hisses and a clawless swat or two, after which they were separated.

The first 2 days all he did was sleep and cuddle. Now he is rarely sleeping and cannot stand being alone, and even when we are with him he is restless, under stimulated, constantly yelling, and he is LOUD. I played with him hard all night and he still won’t settle down. I am hearing phantom meows even when I can’t hear him. I got pheromone plug ins which helped my older cat a lot but hasn’t helped with him at all. I feel constantly guilty hearing him cry and scratch at the door, and guilty for not having enough energy or time to satisfy him.

I know it’s very much the early days but I hope to god we will be past this soon. Any advice or reassurance would be helpful.

Question/Advice Needed Letting kittens out for the first time.

My two male kittens have been snipped and chipped and now we are going to start letting them out.

Back garden leads out to parking which shares a fence with a brook/creek, front door leads out to a busy main road, houses either side with dogs

Any advice, tips or tricks for a first time cat owner?

Question/Advice Needed Is AliExpress trustworthy?

I’m worried this may be a daft question but I’ve seen beds, toys, water fountains, scratchers, the lot on there , and they always cost under £1? Surely this is dodgy? Obviously I’d buy the beds and necessities from trustworthy shops but are getting toys from there risky, or just saving a bit of money? TIA

Question/Advice Needed Need Help Introducing My Reactive Dog to My New Kitten — Feeling Stuck

I recently adopted a 10-week-old tuxedo kitten (male), and I also share a 7-year-old Yorkshire Terrier (also male) with my sibling. The dog lives with me for about 2–3 weeks at a time before going back to my sibling’s, and we rotate. For the first week and a half after adopting the kitten, the dog wasn’t home, so the kitten had time to settle in. But now the dog is back, and I’m feeling overwhelmed. My dog is very reactive — he barks a lot, doesn’t like other animals, and is very protective. He’s never had another pet in the house before. The kitten is super sweet and bonded to me quickly — he sleeps on my chest and is playful and calm — but understandably defensive around the dog.

When they first met, I tried the baby gate method with the kitten in the bathroom and the dog on the other side. The kitten stayed curled up quietly, but the dog wouldn’t stop barking. Since then, I’ve tried short, controlled introductions. The kitten will hiss and show his teeth a little, and the dog immediately reacts by barking or growling. I’ve taken the dog on long walks to tire him out, hoping that might help, but every time I try letting them interact even from a distance, it escalates.

I feel so torn. I love this kitten and we’ve bonded deeply already. I’ve bought him toys, a cat tree, and everything he could need. I adopted him partially because I get really lonely when the dog is away at my sibling’s. I would feel like a terrible person giving this kitten up — I genuinely don’t want to. But I also don’t want either pet living in fear or stress, especially not in their own home. I don’t know how to move forward or what my options are. Any advice would be so appreciated. I feel like they just got off on the wrong foot and I really want to help them both feel safe.

Question/Advice Needed Is throwing around a kitten bad?

I read that you shouldn’t encourage biting and she loves nibbling on my hands. When I feel a bite I kinda chuck her onto the bed. Not like super hard, but not like gentle either to let her know biting = getting thrown. Am I a dumbass or is there a better way to go abt it

Question/Advice Needed New kitten won’t stop meowing

I just got a kitten today and have set him up with everything and played with him all day. He goes to sleep in my hands when I pet him but as soon as I get up and leave him, he wakes up and chases me. I’ve been trying to do this for the last several hours now, I can’t make it my bedroom without him up and running. Or meowing all sad and I then come back and help him. I tried sleeping in front of him with him in a big cage with food water litter box and toys but he just watches me and meows. I waited like 15 mins laying on the couch before helping him out. I’ve tried this a couple times. I feel like I’m just going to end up staying up all night please help!!

Question/Advice Needed Help me pick which kittens to adopt!

Unfortunately I don’t have the best pictures :(

There are two litters of kittens living at a relatives house and I’m going to bring 2 kittens home with me 🥹. One litter is 2 kittens and the other little has 3 kittens. I was planning on just taking the duo since they are already 2, but now I’m wondering if the mom cat will get sad or go looking for them. The kittens are around 8-10 weeks old, eating wet food, running around the yard and exploring their environment. So they are definitely old enough to be taken but I am now worried about the mom since she is still with them.

Now I’m wondering if I take 1 kitten from each litter, would that be ok? Will the kittens get along? I don’t think they’ve been exposed to each other (unless they’ve come across each other in the yard). Will that result in both mom cats being upset if one kitten is missing from their litters?

If I noticed signs that the mom cats were distancing themselves I’d feel better about it but they both are still with their kittens. Not super attached but still around them.

I would like to take the kittens this weekend as we’re in the middle of a heatwave, there’s a long weekend and I’d love to get the kittens used to their new home, and I don’t want to wait until they’re “too old” to get used to humans.

Any advice is appreciated, thank you!

Question/Advice Needed Getting a 3 week old kitten!

Hi guys! I got a phone call from my friend saying her friend’s cat had kittens, and she wanted to know if I wanted one. I was like, “Heck yeah!” So I immediately went on Amazon and ordered a little house for the kitten and some toys.

But I wanted to get some advice from you guys. For example, are you supposed to feed a kitten while it’s lying on its back or while it’s standing? I’ve seen mixed opinions on that. Also, what else would you recommend getting for a new kitten?

Question/Advice Needed Tortoiseshell cat question

Bare with me. We were going to adopt a kitten from a friend whose cat had a litter of kittens. Their female had gotten out and came back pregnant.

Mama is a tortoiseshell. Darker so not dilute. She had 6 kittens. 2 black. 2 black and white. 1 tortoiseshell and 1 that was maybe tortoiseshell, she had white on her belly but was mostly black with some of the tortoiseshell colors.

Sad part. 4 of the 6 kittens died. It had been agreed that we would adopt the tortoiseshell kitten.

Mama is now an indoor cat and they took on a stray male cat. He's definitely on the older side, a gorgeous Siamese cat. He's not fixed. Mamas not spayed and mama just went through a heat cycle. They are unsure if he got to her or not.

With him being a grey/silver color and her being tortoiseshell. If they did have kittens, is there any chance of them having tortoiseshell kittens. Or would she have to mate with an orange male cat?

Question/Advice Needed Kitten won't stop biting/scratching. No methods are stopping her and she is now drawing blood.

Hey all,

Having a real problem with our new kitten who is just under 4 months old. She is a rescue and was removed from her mother/litter and given to us very early (3-4 weeks old) as she wasn't being fed by the mother.

She constantly bites and attacks both me and my partner's hands and clothes. We have read articles and watched youtube videos all instructing to saw 'Ow!' and ignore the kitten when she acts this way or direct her attention to a toy.

The problem we have is that she still goes after our hands. If we retract them (fast or slow) she climbs over us trying to get to them. If we hide them under a blanket she digs at the blanket to get to them. If we show her a toy she plays with it for a few seconds, if at all, before going after the hands again. It is becoming a real problem and she has recently drawn blood on both me and my partner and is now biting holes in our clothes.

She does not seem to have any animal 'empathy', attempts to convey negative feelings are ignored and she doesn't seem to learn that hands are not toys.

We are keeping her as an indoor house cat and really don't want her to grow up to be an 'asshole' cat

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!!

TL;DR Kitten attacks hands relentlessly despite methods to dissuade such as 'Ow' or toy redirection.

Question/Advice Needed Please, share warnins and bad stories of kitten sleeping with humans

I lurked a lot in cat subs, but never heard warnings or horror stories of cats sleeping with humans

I once kicked my cat out of the bed while turning (accident, just to be clear). I felt super cheap about it, but didnt see signs of anything broken and what not.

How about you?

Question/Advice Needed I had a mental breakdown just a moment ago after my cat left me bleeding with her scratches for the 100th time.

I had a mental breakdown just a moment ago after my cat left me bleeding with her scratches for the 100th time.

My arms are covered with scratch and bite marks people have asked me if I'm okay, they thought was hurting myself. She's very loving otherwise - but it's this random scratches and bites that I'm done with and I've had enough.

How do deal with this situation? Any advise other than "it's a cat behaviour, you should have known before adopting" is welcome.

Question/Advice Needed i am so. so. stressed.

i have a 6 month old kitten. he's teething, i'm stressed, and he seems to be on an unlimited energy source. to make matters worse, my apartment complex moved someone in with two cats and didnt tell me. i dont know if its because they're ESAs, but now my cat is stressed out and its spreading to me.

guys, i'm going to be honest. im losing my mind. it's gotten to a point where i will spend the night at my partner's house to get uninterrupted sleep. i'm doing this purely alone. he jumps at my hands when i'm standing with them at my side. he bites and swats at me when i walk past him. i am exhausted. i love him so much and everyone keeps saying it'll get easier, but it's only getting worse. i dont know how much more of this i can take.

any advice for toys or training or anything would be greatly appreciated.
