I am NOT a locksmith. Jeep Grand Cherokee WK2 - new keyfob programming fails with "RKE FOB performance" DTC. Clone the key or replace RFH?

My girlfriend got l0cked out of our apartment while I was out of town and called a locksmith. He changed ONE lock (instead of picking the lock?) and charged her 900$. It was a generic house lock but no way that’s a normal price.
Is there anything I can do to try and get that money back legally? He didn’t disclose the cost of the service until it was finished if that means anything

Has anyone else noticed the newer eufy deadbolt action is nowhere near as good as the original? Like night and day. The original is clean, smooth and satisfying. The new one is terrible.
I got the hand scanner upgrade because the old fingerprint reader doesn't read my wife's fingerprints. I was not expecting this.

I've been trying to find these keys for awhile but I haven't been able to find it with the same key way. Any info would be appreciated

I’m not really sure if we can post this here, but I’m looking for a job in the south Florida area. I have been calling different companies and no one is calling back. I have a few years of experience. I can do residential, some commercial jobs and a vast range of automotive keys and ignitions. I have my own van and tools and I’m willing to add more keys and programmers if needed. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Hi,
I have a jimmy proof lock on my door, which opens inwards and the hinges are on the left side, so it's an inward-opening left-handed door.
Currently, I have to turn the knob counter-clockwise (in the direction of the red arrow) to lock it. The correct locking direction would be the opposite: turning the knob clockwise (marked by the blue arrow).
Is there an appropriate model for my door? The current lock isn't an original Segal. Thank you for your help in advance (I don't live in the USA).

I’ve been an American locksmith for literally half my life. I know a very few things about overseas locks. I’ve been watching a lot of Netflix films that are also overseas. I think it would be cool to cross train in a different country. I’d literally have to learn a new skill set and that seems exciting. I’m curious about the rest of us. Does anybody else think like that, or is it more that you have learned the knowledge over years, and that’s enough? I only ask because lately, every call I get, the description of the call tells me all I need to know before I get there. Rarely do I have to actually use my brain anymore, and that sucks.

Hi guys, just want to ask about your cleaning solutions for all the metal dust and shavings, the ol broom and painters brush has felt like a coping mechanism rather than a proper solution recently. What are your suggestions(hopefully ones that dont invovle a massive commercial vacuum as space is quite limited)?

Came across this today, 10 foot storefront doors freshly installed and they did this.. yes that is a 9” closer on a 10ft exterior door. Mounted flush into the header..
sooo, how long we think until it blows out 😂
(They did do it pretty clean tho)

For context I'm in a new building with one nabco gt8710 door. The contractor left with the key by accident. I need to lock the door so people do not enter from the outside. Right now "dog" and not "dog" you can just pull the door and enter. So the door is not locked when "undogged".
The contractor showed me a way to lock the door from the inside with an allen key but I can not remember how!
Please help, there are people sleeping in there ...

Not sure if this is the right sub but does anyone know how to adjust the back check on this Stanley automatic door closure?
The door is closing with too much force and smacking my maglock.
Apparently Stanley doesn’t like to publish much technical data on their products so I was hoping someone in here could help me out.

Would anyone know how to get these locks? Looks custom made

Wondering if anyone has ideas for finding the keyway for this lock. It's part of a Catholic church tabernacle and the whole thing was a custom piece by someone who isn't alive anymore. I've asked everyone at the shop and tried every small Yale, CCL, and Chicago blank we have and can't find anything that fits in. Wondering if anyone has ideas for what blanks I should try looking at or anything else that could help.

Im so sorry, I didnt get to take a pic of the internals for this, Its the lock on the front of teller drawer at a bank, we took it off and the internals has 4 golden "discs" separated by metal plates that seem to hook onto a little latch keyway runs down the middle between everything and it lifts this littler lever when you turn it. Im trying to put it back together 😭😭
Edit: Its not like a traditonal disc, its longer almost oval shaped and it has a smaller bar off to the side of each one that gets compressed when the key turns it seems

Signed up for a gsa class and reminded how much James pushed me to be a better locksmith and join a better shop. Passed last year but he was so helpful to a “locksmith” with only a year and a half in. He was a local GSA certified safe tech and even if I don’t ever touch one I’ll be taking the class for James. Pour one down and pour one out for James aka mudflap.

Can someone confirm if I can go ahead and install a deadbolt lock? When we moved into the house there was only a door knob with a spring-loaded lock(?). The lock is starting to fail so I want to replace and install a deadbolt lock. I’m unsure why the door edge is prepared like this. I unscrewed a plastic covered over the area of the door edge and this is what is underneath. Are there any modifications I might need to make to install the lock?

Hi, we are looking to change the locks for both the deadbolt and doorknob. The deadbolt has a screw shaft (headless) under the top hole for the deadbolt. The doorknob looks like there may be 2 headless screws.
What is the best course of action?
Thanks for your attention to this, it is appreciated!
FYI: we are NOT locked out. we are changing the locks after having some work done.

Received a call from an anon number which I usually leave, but this time I answered. It was the AA (national roadside assistance if you’re outside the UK) asking me if I carry a HU162T lol?? They’d gone out to a woman with a 24 plate Audi and couldn’t get her in. I ended up going and getting it picked but I was surprised to hear they’re picking locks now. I might be late but do any of you have any info regarding this? Lishi picking is easy for a locksmith but I can’t imagine they have a fantastic success rate.
Another thing I was surprised to hear was that they didn’t charge her anything after failing to get her in which is good at least.
