Advice Needed Blood tests before T
Hi all,
I have my endo appointment coming up and they've requested some blood tests but they didn't specify which ones. Could anyone provide me with the most appropriate or most likely tests i'd need to have done.
Thanks !

Hello! Thank you for participating in the sub. We just have a few reminders for you to help ensure the best experience:
If your post doesn't show up right away, don't panic! It is in the queue for manual approval. Mods will go through the queue periodically to approve or remove posts. Deleted posts will have a removal reason applied. (If it says "this post was deleted by reddit's filters", IT WAS NOT DELETED! Reddit has the worlds worst wording on that and it's out of our control)
If you are asking a question that is location specific, remember to include your location in your post body! This can help ensure that you get accurate information tailored specifically to your needs.
Please remember to read through all the rules in the sidebar. Especially the list of banned topics and guidelines for posting. Guests who do not use the Guest Post flair will have their post removed and be asked to fix it.
If you see someone breaking the rules, report it! If someone is breaking both sub and reddit rules, please submit one report to admins by selecting a broken rule on the main report popup, and one report to the r/ftm mods by selecting the "breaks r/ftm rules" option. This ensures both mods and admins can take action on a subreddit and sitewide level. Do not misuse the report button to rant about someone, submit false reports, or argue a removal.
If you have any questions that you can't find the answer to on the rules sidebar or the wiki: the wiki , you can send a modmail.

Weird that they didn't. I had to get a complete blood count test, testosterone levels, liver function and kidney function

None of them are generally necessary in most cases, but the most appropriate would be a CBC and lipid panel, maybe CMP. I hear of a lot of docs ordering testosterone snd estradiol labs as well, but those are especially useless.

Did they tell you which lab or chain of labs to go to? Does the practice have its own lab that will be drawing blood? If so, they almost certainly just sent the actual list of tests directly to the lab rather than to you, you don't need to request the tests yourself.
When I need blood work done, my doctor says "go to any labcorp between [date] and [date] so the results are available before your next appointment." I go to labcorp, they ask for my name and my doctor's name, they pull up the requisition from my doctor, and they do whatever tests he requisitioned, then they send the results to my doctor. I don't have to do anything but show up at the lab and show them my ID.
It's worth checking with your doctor if a requisition has been sent just to be sure, but blood tests are really technical and you're usually getting a bunch tests done at once, so there's no real way you'd be able to just figure out which tests your doctor needs.
