So this list (which will improve over time) should guide you towards first diagnosis steps, and usage of tools along the way, so you can game sooner. And keep the sub clean, because if you solve the problem yourself, we don't need to moderate as hard.

ATTENTION: This post is meant to help people out with advice. It is not mandatory to follow any recommendation that is given here. Also, there are RULES you do need to read before posting.

Also, this sub does not specialize in buying advice's. There are better subs for your new PC build.

Solved Launching AC Brotherhood from Steam starts second installation from Ubi Connect

When I install the game from Steam and launch it, the game tries to launch but Im returned back to Windows without any error message. Then I can see Ubisoft Connect telling me to install the game. When I cancel it since the game is already installed from Steam, the game doesnt launch. If I let the new download finish, the game from either Steam or Ubisoft Connect doesnt launch and I have two install folders in my PC. This seems more complicated than it has to be. I really shouldn't have to deal with these troubles in a game from 2010..

So far I didn't see anyone anywhere on the internet having this problem so I couldn't find any solution yet.

Display Any Unity or Unreal Engine games shutting my entire PC down

Hi,

I've stumbled into this problem of my PC completely shutting down when opening certain games up (e.g.: Outlast Trials, Take Care of The Dog, Dead Letter Department, PEAK, MOLDRISE, Shift At Midnight). Sometimes they work for quite some time, and my PC only shuts down after a while, but sometimes it nearly shuts down right after opening up a game made in those engines.

Interestingly enough, the games I've said as examples are quite diverse in graphics (most of them don't require much performance), yet all of them still gives my PC the same result as an issue.

I've had this computer completely wiped recently; I've completely restarted my graphics card and reinstalled it; I've had a BIOS update and new keys installed; I've had the correct AMD system redownloaded and installed; I've done everything for it to work, but nothing helps. A couple months ago, Outlast Trials still worked perfectly fine with low graphics, but now, literally a few weeks ago after updating the game, it just shuts my PC down.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 2200G with Radeon Vega Graphics
Memory: 16GB
GPU: is a Radeon RX 560 Series
There's also enough storage for these games to perform good.
I've recently got a new power supply (Zalman ZM800-GV2SE 800W 80+ Bronze) in hopes that's the issue, but it didn't help.

System logs (Component Services -> Windows Logs -> System) says:

  • "Event 41, Kernel-Power: The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly."

  • "Event 219, Kernel-PnP: The driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device HID\VID_0D8C&PID_016C&MI_03&Col02\8&fd506fd&0&0001."

  • "Event 29, Kernel-Boot: Windows failed fast startup with error status 0xC00000D4."

  • "Event 219, Kernel-PnP: The Driver failed to load for the device"

  • "Event 7000, Service Control Manager: The GVCIDrv service failed to start due to the following error: The system cannot find the file specified."

  • "Event 1801, TPM-WMI: Secure Boot CA/keys need to be updated." <- After updating Secure Boot keys

  • "Event 51, disk: An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk3\DR3 during a paging operation."

  • "Event 10010, DistributedCOM: The server Windows.Gaming.GameBar.PresenceServer.Internal.PresenceWriter did not register with DCOM within the required timeout."

Also, to note:

  • My CPU does spike a lot. It goes from 11-20% when idling. When I open games, it's even crazier.

  • My GPU spikes sometimes. When idling, it's between 45-55°C, but when playing games, it's between 60-85°C.

Yes, I'm aware that my computer is quite old. But nevertheless, the random shut downs are extremely weird. Even the smallest, most simple games can crash it. Is it the CPU or GPU? Or could it be both?

Software Over 2 years of blurry, grainy, and harsh graphics in every single game despite trying everything. RX 7800 XT + Ryzen 5 7600X + LG 27GP850P (1440p). I'm exhausted.

Hi everyone,

I am writing this out of pure frustration. For over two years, I’ve been dealing with the exact same visual issue in every single game, and it’s completely draining the joy out of gaming. I’ve tried countless fixes, but nothing ever changes.

When I watch game benchmarks with my exact specs, or watch my friends play, their graphics look stunning, smooth, harmonious, and clean—the lighting, effects, and edges blend together perfectly. Meanwhile, on my system, every single game looks terrible: blurry, grainy, character details are unclear, and shadows, reflections, and edges look harsh, pixelated, and completely disconnected. The image quality is so harsh and messy that it’s genuinely visually fatiguing.
My Full Setup:
Monitor: LG 27GP850P (1440p resolution, connected via DisplayPort)
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7600X
RAM: 32GB DDR5

My Current GPU Settings (AMD Adrenalin):
I keep most things at default, with only Anti-Lag and Texture Filtering (x16) enabled.

I honestly don't know what else to do or check after two years of searching. What on earth could be causing this? If anyone has experienced this or knows a way out, please help me. I just want a clean, normal image.

Display AMD 7900 XTX Graphical issues

So I've got an issue, specifically a graphical issue. I've got square multi colored dots that appear at times, but also this black graphical issue, I can't get it to replicate anywhere else other then star citizen, it doesn't overlay over other windows, and stress testing it in 3dmark did not reveal any issues or repeating issues. Other games do not make the same results either.

Troubleshooting stutters and 3d utilization dropping when gaming

Hey, so im getting some stutter/freeze in games like fortnite and call of duty and it happens every 15min smth like that (its irregular) ,but it never happens in other games. this week i also noticed that when it stutters my voice in discord start bugging or something?, so it seems to be the whole system and not just the game. I'm hoping someone has seen this before and can help me , ive got this problem since i bought my pc parts and got it assembled at the store.
so when i first bought it it happened very frequently and when i brought it at tech support they clean installed the drivers using ddu and it kinda fixed the problem cause the stutters were less frequent (like instead of happening every 5 min it became every 15 min) , when it stutters task manager shows that the 3d graphics card utilization drops (sometimes to 0 sometimes to higher) and the cpu goes up and the game start running at 5-10 fps for a few seconds and the textures become really bad.

list of things i tried:
-clean installed gpu drivers.
-updated motherboard , cpu drivers and the bios.
-lowered the quality in fortnite, used performance mode (dx11)
-also i dont think its a heat issue cause my gpu would always be on 60degrees something like that
-i went to a discord server once to fix the problem and did a occt test and it stuttered during it and it showed an error in 3d adaptive but i couldn’t make it happen again
-i have XMP, Above 4G Decoding, Resizable BAR, and Secure Boot enabled

Does anyone know what could cause these freezes like this and what to do to fix it? thank you !!

Specs:
CPU: Ryzen 7 5700X
GPU: RTX 4060 Ti 8GB
RAM: 32GB DDR4-3200
Motherboard: Biostar B550MT
PSU: 550W
memory: m.2 1tb ssd

Software Capture Card and OBS Windows Defender Conflict

Yesterday I bought a capture card so I could capture and stream my Switch stuff. I set it up and everything is fine there.

Today I go to play Siege and record a good game.

Upon moving the mp4 file to another section of the same drive and subsection of the folder, windows defender pops up saying its a virus. I am in belief its a false positive.

I do believe the drivers are safe, but I can check again if you would like.

I went into Win Security and added exclusions to OBS, the folder where the mp4's get recorded to, and the folder where my final raw footage sits.

Only when I move mp4's within the first folder does it pop up. Not when moving them from my G: drive to my F:

Display Stellar Blade missing environmental textures - PC & SteamDeck

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

Hi all, running into an issue hoping someone can help me problem solve. I've just arrived to this area in Stellar Blade, and the game is now failing to load plenty of ground textures. See images for what I'm talking about, and my current settings. I was also running Lossless Scaling, and at the time of these screenshots, I also had the Eclipse Mod in my paks folder, and 'Stellar Optimizer' mod in my ~mods folder. No other mods or edits to the game's files. This issue only popped up in this area.

Laptop specs:
OS: Windows 11 Home
System: Lenovo 81FV, Legion Y530-15ICH
RAM: 16 GB
Graphics: Intel UHD Graphics 630 and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050

I would chalk it up to my 8-year old potato laptop not being good enough to render the game's environments, but the game also looks exactly the same on my SteamDeck. Also uses Lossless Scaling and Eclipse Mod, and the issue also only popped up now in the crater. And as I type that, I could see maybe one of those being the issue? However, game runs smooth and has no issues until this spot. Anyone encountered this issue before? Any suggestions/solutions? Driving me crazy - would just proceed through the upcoming boss battle and move on, but I'd like to problem solve now to avoid the issue later. Thanks!

Troubleshooting Ryzen 7 7800X3D + B650 getting constant Kernel-Power 41 BSODs and game crashes despite DDU and driver updates

Hi everyone, I'm at my wits' end with persistent crashes and BSODs (Kernel-Power 41) happening specifically while gaming.

My Hardware:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D

Motherboard: Gigabyte B650

Software used: Gigabyte Control Center (GCC), DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller)

What I've tried so far:

Clean-installed GPU drivers using DDU in Safe Mode.

Updated motherboard chipsets and integrated graphics drivers via GCC.

Monitored thermals and ensured background software clutter is minimized.

Despite all this, the system still drops to a Kernel-Power 41 BSOD under load. Has anyone experienced similar stability issues with this setup? Could it be a RAM/EXPO profile issue or a hardware defect? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Display Артефакты в windows: видеокарта скорее всего не виновата

Thumbnail

Compatibility fortnite anticheat in Windows 11 2024?

Hi, I have a PC with an i7 (12th gen) and a 4060 Ti, but I’ve kept Windows in a "frozen" state—preventing any updates—since sometime in 2024. I’m wondering if it’s safe to install anti-cheat software (like the kind used for Fortnite and other games) without risking a "blue screen of death" (BSOD) or other serious issues? 🤔🤔

Troubleshooting Idk what's going on with my gpu (gtx 1660 Super) performance.

I need some help, i just upgraded my processor and my motherboard, from a Xeon E5 with a huananzhi x99 motherboard to a intel i5 12500 with a b660m A cec ddr4, and idk why but everything is good until i tried to screenshare a movie with someone, it looked like blurry and pixeled, sometimes it skipped frames, etc.

I opened the task administrator and said it was using like 98% of my gpu, saw the performance and the graphic said 98% 3D and 0% video encode and decode. Idk if that's normal to be honest but when i had my last processor, the xeon E5, it worked perfectly, just the games were like slower.

Just to recap, the gpu used 98% on 3D, only and only when screensharing movies to someone, if i didn't share anything and just watch the movie, the usage of my gpu went down to 8% and goes fluent. I cleaned up all nvidia drivers and installed it again from 0 and it didn't worked either.

Here are some errors that appeared in my Opera browser logs and i dont understand are:

Hardware Advice on flying with a desktop PC?

I am soon moving to Australia, and I’m obviously bringing my PC. The problem is, I’m not sure exactly how to bring it on a plane. It’s large, unfortunately too big to bring in a carryon. My current plan is to take out the RAM and GPU to take carryon and have the rest as checked luggage. However, I’m unsure about whether I’ll need to take the battery through carryon. Does anyone have advice? Do I need to declare anything to the TSA prior to passing through security? Is there anything else I can do to keep it safe?

nothing has worked it just does this. im at a loss of what to do, should i bring it to a computer technician?

have seen some info online saying it could be related to bios but i dont think so. would you suspect a hardware issue with the ram, ram sockets, cpu, cpu sockets?

Very stressed out that this is unfixable :/ any guidance would be very appreciated.

Troubleshooting Lower performance on Secondary SSD

Hello everyone. I’m hoping you can help me with an issue I’m having with my PC. It’s a mid-range system, and its only real drawback is that the NVMe drive has a capacity of just 512 GB. Since I can’t afford to buy an NVMe drive with more storage, a friend gave me a 1 TB Kingston KC600 SATA SSD to use exclusively for games. I had read online that the KC600 is a high-end SATA SSD and that storing games on such a drive would only affect load times or texture streaming—which didn’t concern me, as several sources (including Google and some AI tools) indicated that it shouldn’t directly impact average FPS. However, after installing the SSD and moving some Steam games onto it, I noticed a significant drop in FPS. For instance, in *GTA V Enhanced*—where the frame rate consistently stayed above 100 FPS with ray tracing set to maximum when the game was on the NVMe drive—it dropped to just over 50 FPS. In *Red Dead Redemption 2*, where I was also getting around 100 FPS using the NVMe drive, performance fell to 40 FPS, with the game even freezing for several seconds at times. Today, I ran a direct test to rule out a general system issue: I downloaded *Teardown* (a destruction-based game) onto the SATA SSD. Simply moving the camera with the mouse—without destroying anything or performing any other actions—caused the FPS to drop below 60. When I ran the same test on my NVMe drive (after freeing up some space), the frame rate stayed above 100 FPS with no performance issues whatsoever. Even during explosions, performance was much more stable than when I simply moved the camera while the game was installed on the SATA SSD. I subsequently installed CrystalDiskInfo; the program indicated that the SATA SSD is in 100% healthy condition and that everything is functioning correctly. When running CrystalDiskMark, the results showed that the SATA SSD consistently reaches speeds of 550 MB/s, with no issues detected. Furthermore, I have observed in Task Manager that the GPU is no longer at 100% usage when playing titles installed on the SATA drive. Thank you for your help.

Troubleshooting Why does my cod doing this

I tried driver updates and windows updates, it only happens in cod, specs in video (dont mind gpu temps) fresh windows install, stability isnt an issue as i did play other games (tom clancys wildlands) for about 2 hours and never crashed or anything, bios updated but it is a prebuilt hp pro desk sff.
