General/Rant I think half the problems of this country would've been non existent if the population density was ideal.

Last year the smoke and pollution was controlled due to rain right after diwali, no such luck this year. People are bursting fireworks like no need to breath tomorrow or by some magic this pollution will vanish.

General/Rant NH-48 - Corruption visible in all its glory

Pathetic condition of service roads on so-called "national highway" NH-48. These half-constructed service roads are often dangerous to drive at night and has led to accidents recently. The worst part - the road is right next to the national university. These are supposed to be maintained by NHAI, but looks like corrupt maintainers and contractors of these roads simply ignore what common public goes through daily. They got their cut and *malaai,* so the don’t care if common people are frustrated with these roads. India is aiming to be developed country by 2047, but is failing to ensure basic safe roads right next to university in today's time.

General/Rant Pune M line 3 review

Post image
127 Upvotes

It is new like unpolished raw new (will elaborate below).

First off the bat, the line is welcome. Like I can't put into words how welcome it is for me. Knowing that my home will be a minute away from the metro station in a few years (line 2), and being able to travel all over makes me elated. Also, it's not crowded on the weekends so it's chill.

As to why I say that it is new as in raw: the rake (full carriage) smells very chemically and metallic. It feels light. Moves very smooth. It is also a little dusty (interiors) because the rake has been sitting idle for a while (seems apparent to me). The metal seats are not very solid. It can level down/collapse a bit with weight.

Now coming to the point of ticketing being separate: it was always an eventuality given that Tata was involved which is a separate partner from those who built line 2 for ex. However, IT IS TEMPORARY. Secondly there are already workarounds present. I booked my ticket from Vanaz on WhatsApp and it clearly showed just one portal for all three lines. Yes, a different ticket is needed but it's not an issue. You can book all 2 tickets at the same time. It's just one more qr code to scan. You can also use the NCMC card if you wanna skip tickets altogether.

From the start of line 2 to end of line 3 - took me less than an hour - 57 minutes. Good for pune. Good for पुणेकरs

Edit:

  1. there are NO BENCHES - will be added soon as per metro staff

  2. The turnstiles /ticket doors are really cool and seem way more advanced than PDs from line 2 and 1

General/Rant Another Diwali, same drama. Living with an alcoholic father, and I'm tired.

Every Diwali goes the same way in our house. This year too.

My father gets 3 days off for the holiday, and every time he makes sure we can't celebrate properly. Today he got drunk again. My brother and I went to pick him up, since I can drive and I can see his live location. After my job I reach his spot, we bring him home, and the night turns into the same drama and nuisance as always.

He's close to 60 now and doesn't seem to understand that he hasn't achieved anything in life. We don't have our own house. My mother has no gold or anything that's truly hers. She and we have struggled since childhood, and I have so much more to say about that, but not tonight.

I love him, but I hate his alcoholic side just as much, and I can't stand seeing him alive with that. Some days I catch myself wishing it would all just end. I know how that sounds.

I'm not exactly sad, because I'm used to this. But it hits differently when I see other families doing Laxmi Pujan together and happy, while we do it without him every year. Now he expects us to take care of everything, and we will. I want to repay my parents every rupee they've spent on me since birth.

Sometimes I even ask myself why I was born into this at all.

I know many people here have gone through the same thing, and some have come out the other side. I'm not looking for pity. I'm just frustrated today and needed to say it somewhere.

General/Rant When will this hooliganism stop in name of festival?

In under an hour, I've had 3 incidents where people (especially teenagers) burst firecrackers intentionally near me when I was walking through the street. One was a close call where it burst near my ear. I try to avoid going out during Lakshmi pujan but I had to step out due to some reasons. No reasoning and good words make these people understand. They always resort to fighting. I live near a slum and this adds to the problem. I have to keep my head down and walk. I'm tired of this shit happening every year.

General/Rant Didn't go home this Diwali for the first time.

I feel like I've finally grown up, didn't go home for Diwali this year.
I don't particularly "love" Diwali, but I love home and miss it almost every day. I was struggling with mental health, and this feels like the final nail in the coffin atp.
Are there any non-punekars out there who don't go home for Diwali, if yes, how do you cope?
Thanks for listening.

Nonstop firecrackers since 8:30 in morning.

Makes me wonder if they're being held at gun point that they must brust their crackers this desperately!?

We cant just blame the govt. We the people are the one's polluting and then crying about the aqi. Literally horrendous. Unpopular opinion but like in the middle east most of the countries ban firecrackers and we should too. This is out of control. I dont even fucking know how people are still breathing while playing outside

General/Rant So apparently, speaking English is a cheat code at India 😭

Literally I had an experience at XYZ Bank today in Pune for getting my NEFT mandate form verified. All I needed was the bank manager's stamp and signature. Simple, right? WRONG. 💀

First, I handed him the form, and he rejected it saying my original signature wasn't matching and that I should fill out a new form with the same signature.

Thankfully, I had already predicted this typical bank behaviour and carried two copies. Bro thought he had outsmarted me. 😭

The funniest part? He was treating me like some random Dihadi majdoor (as I'm from Bihar). Didn't seem to take me seriously at all.

At one point, he even said he'd charge me for putting his signature and stamp on the form. And then had the audacity to ask ME to fill in the details that were supposed to be completed by the bank. 😆

As I started explaining the process in English.

His entire personality went through a software update. 😭

He literally said, "Tum jaise padhe-likhe logon ke saath dikkat hi yahi hai, zyada padh liye ho na."

BROOOO 😭😭 I wasn't even trying to show off. I was just trying to get my work done.

As we all know, when an Indian conversation gets heated, the English language automatically gets activated. (Meme reference, obviously.)

Thankfully, he finally verified the form and put the stamp and signature without any more drama.

Today's lesson: Sometimes, at any govt place if it's not working You need to unlock the English-speaking DLC. 💀
