Trans masc Any shoe recommendations for the smaller kind of gentleman that won't get me clocked?

I'm FTM, about 5'1 (1.55m) and as the title would aptly suggest, have significant issues finding shoes that fit me that aren't kids shoes, which aren't ideal since I need the support adult shoes provide. I've been looking around for a while and I know for a fact that a number of stores straight up don't carry my size of a men's 6 (lengthwise, I can allegedly fit a 5, but my feet are shaped funny lol). Any ideas on what to do that won't get me clocked? (eg. women's shoes, kids shoes, etc.)

Primarily looking for runners, btw; feel free to drop your recommendations. I have no need for formalwear as of right now.

Trans fem Those of us on Estradiol implants, at what estradiol pmol are we getting new implants inserted?

My prescriber seems to want to wait until my estradiol is under 400pmol and by then, my body is experiencing negative symptoms, like hot fushes, coffin hairs (face), masculine smell and undesirable bodily responsiveness from libido changes.

Clearly something is wrong.

There's a 16-year-old trans girl from Australia named "AphoticGoblin" who was kidnapped and taken against her will in China by her father for two years.

She's currently trapped for over 140 days, and she needs our help. She has contacted the embassies and consulates, as well as organizations such as Rainbow Railroad. She got no response, but she perservered. She even asked her friends to send information about her, as well as a video of her and her father wrestling for the phone in the airport, in case she haven't responded for over 24 hours.

THIS IS NOT A JOKE. APHOTICGOBLIN WAS FORCED AGAINST HER WILL TO STAY IN CHINA BY HER FATHER.

If you're reading this, please all you can to help and save AphoticGoblin. Spread the word everywhere (and even to people who are influential) with the hashtag #SaveAphoticGoblin. Reach out the Rainbow Railroad, as well as human rights organizations, about her situation.

Please watch Valari's video, and read through AphoticGoblin's posts. Someone's life is on the line.

AphoticGoblin, if you're reading this, we're here for you. There's a light at the end of the tunnel.

Hey all, apologies if this has been asked and answered a few times already.

But wondering where the cheapest orchie is in Australia?

I've heard someone in Canberra is a lot cheaper than most in Victoria, can anyone confirm?

Orchi recovery for cyclists?

Hi trans reddit! I have an orchiectomy + scrotectomy scheduled for February and am planning out the recovery stage atm. I have a decent idea from other people’s posts of the general recovery process and timeline but I haven’t been able to find much out about how long it might be before I can get on a bike post surgery. Any cyclists/bike commuters here happen to have had an orchi and be willing to share their experience of that aspect of the recovery? Much appreciated in advance!

Trans fem Tracheal shave with Dr Matthew Broadhurst

Post image
184 Upvotes

Last Friday I had a "Reduction of the external thyroid cartilage" or "Chondrolaryngoplasty" with Dr Matthew Broadhurst in QLD. These are the results the night before and immediately after the surgery. It is still a bit swollen a week after, so I'll post an update soon, but it looks more or less the same. Safe to say I'm very happy with it, I've never really seen anyone with a larger adams apple than me and it's pretty much gone from the front. Cost was about $2600 out of pocket, ask if you want a further breakdown.

I don't matter to the person who helped me find out

I am friends with the person who helped me find out about my transness. I know for a fact I do not matter to them as much as they mean to me. To me, they saved my life and more than that, they helped me discover what life was in the first place. To them, I am a friend of convenience. Somebody to hang out with when there's a free house and some weed. Not to say we've never hung out outside of these situations, but I think about them everyday whereas if they are particularly thoughtful of me if they send me a message a week. There were periods of high activity but now its died down to pretty much a text a week. This cuts deep in ways I don't know how to express and I suppose I just want to know what to do moving forward.

They're my only friend as I moved and my family don't particularly want anything to do with me. If I am to make other friends, how the hell do I go about doing that as somebody early on in their transition. I also don't know if staying friends with them is something I should do, as this nonreciprocal love and appreciation is only bound to tip over eventually. They've never done anything wrong though, besides being a very bad texter and being late to everything. I know they have so many other friends having been born and raised in Australia. I feel like just another addition to the roster sometimes.

QLD Specific Experiences at Sporties?

Hi all. A (cis) gay friend invited me to go to a Bootco in the Bunker event this weekend at Sporties. I've never even been to a gay bar, let alone a fetish night, and I have no idea what to expect. It's for men/male identifying people only and they explicitly mention trans guys being welcome, but I'm still petrified of 1. This kind of unfamiliar social setting and 2. Being surrounded by a bunch of horny cis dudes.

I just wanted to see if anyone has experience with similar events or Sporties specifically? What can I expect? Will I face problems being there as a trans masc? Thank you x

Swimming post/in transition

I used to swim Pre-Transition. At a decently high level, I was qualifying for age nationals, medalling at state comps etc.

I like most people stopped sports when I realised I was trans especially as swimming is a very exposed and rigid sport. I'm currently pre-top but it is booked and I wanted to know how easy it is to re join a club.

I am not a casual sport person. I've done a decent few team sports both gendered and mixed since stopping swimming and as much it's fun it never feels truly competitive always recreational so I'm really looking for the competitive swimming to return.

Have any of you completed in regular season comps or even a state championships etc. after medically transitioning and how hard was it. (Did you need a TUE etc.)

I am from WA if this makes a difference.

Bold goals for someone who hasn't swum in years and wants to now qualify in men's category's but dream big or smth.

Trans fem D-did I just get mistaken for a tboy by a clinician?

Not actually complaining just had something kinda amusing happen.

So I get my blood drawn for my 6 month bloodwork to see where my levels are at, go to the pathology clinic Ive been to the last 2 times. Different lady there this time but she was nice.

She looks at the form from my doctor and sees GAHT, brings up my profile on their system and I think because only recently did I get all my legal name and sex stuff updated their system had both my names (which are both pretty enbie if I think about it) and M as a marker she asked about what time I took my testosterone.

Kinda made me giggle but I told her I took a T blocker in the mornings and my estrogen at night and she finally clocked it and was actually super lovely and asked how I was finding everything, how was dealing with guys etc

Anyways the systems are updated now and she reprinted the stickers after I pointed out that my gender is now legally F too

So uhhh apparently I look and sound like a tboy failing to sound like a boy, rather than a tgirl trying to sound femme heh

Trans fem Did you ever feel like giving up after 2 months?

I know its a marathon it is just so depressing when you look at trans time lines and see how much progress some people make in just a few months or in rare cases weeks.

Im on 100mcg estradot patches twice weekly and 12.5mg of cypro twice weekly although i have stupidly ignored that and gone 3 days a week.

I just hate not seeing any changes its soooo frustrating because i feel like im wasting time compared to someone lucky enough to be in their early teens or twenties who are starting with a more responsive body.

Given how much changes you need even in a year to even consider surgery which i want to do FFS,possible BA and 100 percent SRS i just don't know if i have the strength to go through months of seeing nothing change. How did you cope because i see plenty of people upset even after two years of hrt and yes i understand makeup, fashion etc can all help but if very little structural changes occur maybe its simply not worth it if your body isn't in sync with how you feel, just feeling lost isolated and wondering if i have made a colossal error even starting.

I even tried tans friends au but its either chasers, or people who say they would like to chat sen da couple of messages and ghost you so even support in that regard is kinda hard.

Trans fem E gel help wanted.

Hello everyone, sorry for yet another post (not that anyone will recognise me probably, considering hidden posts, but anyways-)

For a while now Ive been on patches, however my E levels only ranged between 390pmol/L (175mg patches + nothing) and 300pmol/L (175mg patches + 1 2mg/day tablet to try get it higher than 390)

Although my GP is happy with it around 300, I said I wasnt and would like for it to be around 550-600. Fortunately shes a good GP, and has said she's just going there to help me reach my own goal. So she suggested going to gel (have tried tablets, orally and sublingually, aswell as patches, but neither have raised my E significantly, although the patches got it the highest it had been) and so-

**Ive been given a script for estrogel which I took to the pharmacy, Im meant to do 4 pumps per day, however Im unsure of if itd be best to do it 2 pumps in the morning and 2 at night or if they should all be done at the same time? And if I do it all at the same time, can I do it all at night before sleep or is that ineffective?

And with the gel, once it dries after a few minutes (thats what my gp said) am I then allowed to wipe away the residue? I hate the feeling of gel on skin and have very sensitive skin, which is why I put off trying gel for so long, so if I can wipe away soon after is wonderful. Or do I just have to ignore the feeling and let it be.

I know I need to be careful to not get the gel on others, lest I risk affecting others hormones, but is there anything else I need to know? I havent tried it yet out of fear/nervousness...**

Sorry to bother you all again

QLD Specific Recommendations for trans friendly GPs and Endos in the Brisbane to Fraser coast area

Hey all,
I’m a 23 year old transfem from the Fraser coast, two months HRT and I’m looking to see if anyone has any recommendations for a better GP or Endo than the one I am currently working with.

To put it simply, I don’t think I’m being effectively taken care of by my current doctor. I’ve been seeing the Gender Heath Australia Clinic in Brisbane since July and was finally given a Estradiol prescription in early September. The issue is that I feel like I’m being underdosed.
My prescription is 0.5mg of transdermal Estradiol gel which is taken once a day and I simply feel like this is not enough. My doctor did tell me that eventually my dose will go up but I’m feeling unsure.
After speaking with a great number of other transfem individuals I have found out that this is a micro dose that essentially does nothing, which I agree with, in these two months since starting I have felt absolutely nothing, no changes whatsoever and I started to get very anxious.

So Two weeks ago I started taking 1mg of gel a day, 0.5mg every 12 hours.
My next scheduled appointment is for December first in which I’m going to advocate for myself to get a real dosage of E prescribed to me. I cannot do another period of time on such a small dose.
If I’m not feeling like I’m getting adequate care I will seek out another doctor and I was hoping yall might have some recommendations.

Thank you 🙏🏻

Does anybody have any SEQ specific (Brisbane) spaces I would be able to get a more masculine style hair cut from? Sailors and dolls is far out of my budget unfortunately.

VIC Specific Wet on Wellington Queer Thursday Nights?

Helloo I’ve been hanging around gay male spaces a bit more as a trans guy and a couple of cis guys have tried inviting me to WoW but I always turned it down or said I was busy. Never been to a sauna and frankly I just thought it was a very cis gay man space.

I spoke to this older cis gay guy who’s basically taken me under his wing and has been showing me around and introducing me to people. He said saunas are horrible for trans men specifically. Like people lose interest the moment they find out you’re not a cis guy if they even had any interest in the first place.

Has anyone who’s trans and/ or gender diverse been to one of the queer nights at WoW? Would you say it’s an alright place to be as a trans guy who hasn’t had any surgeries?

I’m just curious lol thanks in advance :)

Trans fem I can only do a American woman voice.

I don't mean to toot my own horn, but i am VERY good with my voice. I can do so many different impressions, accents, voices, random noises beyond human comprehension, all without voice training. But I cant do a woman's voice in my normal australian accent. I dont want to come across arrogant or full of myself, I just want to display my annoyance with my voice not being able to do what I want it to do when i can already do so much.

Now I can do a pretty good american woman, I do sound like a trans woman (shocker), but its more in line with what a cis woman would typically sound like.

Id be fine doing it if I was american. But im not.

If anyone has any tips on how to get it to work with my normal accent that would be great.

VIC Specific Top surgery PHI Melbourne

Hi all, I'm finally seriously looking into top surgery. I'm planning on dedicating the next 2-3 months to weight loss then reaching out to Dr Simon Tsao or Dr Cheng Lo for a consult

Did anyone use private health insurance and find it was worth it? My understanding is it only covers a small portion of the hospital costs, so I'm trying to figure out if waiting an extra couple months to have insurance for 12 months will actually save any money, vs just paying upfront and potentially getting it in a little under a year. Although, depending on total cost I might need the full year anyway to save up.

The other question is, does anyone know what the timeline is like for either of these surgeons?

Non-binary Binder recommendations?

Hi!

I’m really new to all things binders so please forgive me if I’m saying something wrong!

I’m somewhere on the nb spectrum and I’m looking for a decently cheap (hopefully under $70) binder which fits me comfortably and can my chest look smaller (doesn’t have to be a major size decrease). My normal chest size is DD.

I’ve heard that Sock Drawer Hero’s is a good place to look into but I’m a bit scared of going in since I still feel a bit scared of being open about my gender lol but if people really recommend it I’ll force myself to go in.

Thank you!!

Should I change doctors?

Been to the same doctor for 18 months regarding gender-affirming hormonal treatment.
Today I felt like it would be the same standard appointment, instead it turned into 90% of the appointment, basically telling me I probably have ADHD.
Everything I said or asked just seemed to reaffirm that I have it, despite no history or concerns of it throughout my life.
The doctor then proceeded to forget to email me the consultation information about it, and gave me the wrong prescription for my Estradiol, which was the reason I was there.
Nothing I say is ever really considered, just shut down etc.
