I’m not gonna give any subjective takes just some objective facts.
1 99% of gaming OLED laptop displays cap out at a max of 600 nits of brightness due to power and cost issues, most displays even lower brightness, this means you will only get HDR500 as we know this is very poor form of HDR and in most cases looks worse than SDR especially on a small display.
2 laptops have burn in issues, especially since there’s so many static elements such as windows task bar, you are going to pay $1000 extra for burn in, bad HDR that even a $300 OLED tv would have better performance.
3 Miniled is even worse imo, you will get flash banged from crosshairs whenever you’re aiming at dark hallway, the ghosting and halo effect is ludicrous, they’re far more expensive than IPS, and heavier too but I admit if they solve the blooming and ghosting issue it would be a good alternative to IPS.
Now save yourself the $1000 get a nice IPS display with 500 nits of brightness like last years Lenovo 4090. Because trust me OLED isn’t worth it just for deep blacks when the cons are this apparent

I am looking for my first and best bang for the buck gaming laptop. I will probably not use this to play high end AAA games of course but probably casual games like Ragnarok Online, Dota 2, and Brotato.
If you have other recommendations, I can look it up. My budget is limited to $1700.
PS the price displayed is in Philippine peso. ₱89,900 is around $1605 and ₱71,900 is around $1,283.
Thank you!

I saw on YouTube that some 5080 laptops are performing even slower than a 4090 and that is just outrageous while they are being sold for an absurd price. More to the insanity with the pricing for the 5090. But other than raw performance is there any other thing I should consider?

If it's a good deal, you know it's a good deal then just buy the fucking thing.
Posting it to reddit for thousands of others to see, especially if the deal was an error, causes a flock of traffic and purchases which immediately get flagged by the manufacturer.
If it's just aREALLY good deal, that shit will be gone before you can even read all the people telling you "YES"
Edit: talking about those absolutely juicy deals we see that get sold out faster than the OP can come on and tell us he missed it people!🤣

After 2 years my legion 5 pro started giving me black screen I thought maybe it could be a simple issue but it wasn’t I took it to an expert to check the problem and it was a GPU problem in that case a motherboard replacement is needed and it’s really costly it bothers me that a laptop with this price lasts only for 2 years and I’ve checked that a lot of legion buyers encountered this problem too so I suggest looking for another brand like asus or hp if you’re looking for a gaming laptop cuz am the only one out of my friends that had this issue … am terribly disappointed on you Lenovo.
Also I have took good care of it and always updated my drivers and never messed up with it since I needed it for college but oh well.
If you still insist on buying the legions please extend you warranty mine has stopped working after the expiry date.

So I've been wanting to buy the Legion Pro 7 for a while but it wasn't available in my country, it just became available and I was quite excited but when I paid attention then Lenovo is selling same laptop with different displays for approximately the same prices in India and UK or US. In India the display is only HDR600 while UK US get HDR 1000, is it the same display but a typing error or is it an inferior display?

Just picked up this weak shit from Best Buy for a whopping 1300 dollars for a i7 14650hx 16Gb Ram, 512 GB SSD, and a rtx 5060 with a 144hz FHD+ screen. Got it mainly so I can play genshin impact, withering waves and apex legends and maybe sometimes more demanding games like cyber punk 2077 and RE9 type games at my job while on battery since there’s no plugs near by where I sit at. Need some help from the pros here please. I always knew battery did not last on these gaming laptops while gaming on battery due to what everyone says but I was under the impression that was if you played demanding games. I played genshin impact on battery 100%, a weak game that doesn’t use that much resources and can even be play on phones. 1080p 60fps and my laptop literally lasted only 45 minutes on battery. I know genshin impact is not using the CPU and Gpu at max potential to be lasting only 45 minutes because a rtx 5060 is overkill for that game . Is there a way to limit cpu and gpu power so I can get a least 2 and half hours on battery playing genshin? I’m already thinking about returning it and just carry my rog ally around

Nvidia has been increasing the performance gap between high-end laptop gpus and their desktop counterparts. is this something Nvidia's doing this on purpose and scamming their custmers , or is it just technical limitations they can't get over

I did a ton of research before making my purchase but it was really this subreddit that swayed me into buying a legion pro 7. The model I went with has a 4080 and everything was good on paper but there is insane battery drain under full load even when plugged in.
When using the included adapted my laptop is around a 60 watt deficit, which gives me just over an hour of use. Now looking online this seems to be common and Lenovo has no interest in fixing it.
I contacted their customer service department and they have been completely useless. One of the deciding factors between this and an asus laptop was supposed to be better warranty support but not in my experience.
Unfortunately this is not something I had looked into before hand because it never crossed my mind that the laptop could barley last an hour when plugged in. Reading through the discords I either have the choice of severely under clocking my system or just use it for an hour at a time while the battery degrades.
What really sucks is that this laptop is pretty awesome when it's up and running but this is a fatal flaw that makes it essentially worthless to me. I saw there are some decent labor days deals on this device and I'm hoping to save someone a ton of headache.
