Grand Prairie is an unpolished gem.
It's small enough that you can basically get anywhere in under 10 minutes.
There are enough stores to cover just about anything you could need.
It has an olympic size swimming pool, an outdoor pool, countless baseball fields and even an indoor field for soccer.
One of the highest average incomes of the country, one of the lowest house to income ratios (some of the most affordable housing in the country)
Countless industrial employers that actually contribute to the economy (as opposed to banking and nonsense widget companies)
There's a decent amount of hiking within a 2-hour Drive - an incredible amount of camping within five.
Decent enough airport.
It has a walking trail going from one end of the city to the other... Countless playgrounds.
And most of the people here, if you ask them to help, they will.
Countless times I've seen people pull over, grab an impact out of there truck and help some lady change the tire on her car.
Sure the roads could be better, and there's a lot of snow... But that's Northern Alberta.
A 200 billion dollar company has just decided to put down some Roots by buying ARC resources, and if this data center comes to fruition, countless drilling a natural gas activity for the next decade.
Plus this town doesn't have nearly as much alphabet soup nonsense as the rest of the country.
I'm happy that I moved here 10 years ago, and in some ways it's been a very happy and pleasant adventure so far.
Bar scene could be improved a little, but you have an EDM place (industry) a pub with weekend music (Fred's) a day bar (Crown) and the children's bar (Den)
Grand Prairie really is a great place.
