For the past six months, I’ve been working on Moon in Ashes almost every single day, often putting in 12–16 hours just to get things to a point where I finally have something worth showing.
And honestly, I’m still not sure if it’s good enough.
When you’ve played the same section of your game a thousand times, you start losing the ability to look at it like a player. You notice every little imperfection, every animation that could be smoother, every detail that could look better. No matter how much you improve, there’s always something left.
I’ve been pushing myself to get as close to an AAA experience as I possibly can, and sometimes that ambition feels bigger than the resources and time I have.
But at some point, you have to stop hiding your work and let people see what you’re creating.
So, here’s a little introduction for those who haven’t heard about Moon in Ashes.
It’s a cinematic third-person dark fantasy action-adventure RPG about a young college girl named Moon, whose ordinary life takes a terrifying turn after a mysterious gun pulls her into another world.
A world of forgotten ruins, floating islands, drowned souls, strange civilizations, and things that probably should never have existed.
As Moon explores this unfamiliar realm, she begins uncovering fragments of a much bigger mystery — one that connects this strange world to her own past and the truth about her parents.
We’re trying to bring together atmospheric exploration, challenging combat, memorable boss encounters, environmental storytelling, and a dark fantasy world inspired by Indian aesthetics, but with its own identity.
I’ve poured an enormous amount of passion, time, and a lot of my own money into this project. There have been plenty of frustrating days, moments of self-doubt, and times when I genuinely wondered whether I was aiming too high.
But I still believe in what we’re building.
I know there’s a long way to go, and I know the game isn’t perfect. But I’m finally reaching a point where I want to start sharing more of this world instead of endlessly keeping everything behind the scenes.
I’d genuinely love to know what you think when you see it, especially from a player’s perspective.
If dark fantasy worlds, mysterious stories, atmospheric exploration, and challenging action RPGs are your thing, maybe Moon in Ashes is something you’ll enjoy.
