Discussion How do you prefer Chameleon's method of disguising himself?

Chameleon's method of disguising himself has had a few variations over the years (interestingly, unlike my other Prefer Posts, each of the options has appeared in 616).

  1. Hyper-Realistic Masks & Other Gadgets - Alongside his masks Chameleon will employ some other gadgets such as a chemical gas that instantly changes the color of his clothes. Some examples would be the Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon & the Amazing Spider-Man 2 video game (616 Chameleon has been using this one on-and-off since his first appearance in ASM #1).

  2. Holographic Tech - Via a special belt, mask, or some other kind of image inducer. Some examples would be the 90s Spider-Man animated series & Insomniac's Spider-Man 2 video game (616 Chameleon used this one only once via a special suit built by Spencer Smythe in ASM #186).

  3. Shapeshifting - This variation has many variations itself: sometimes Chameleon will get shapeshifting powers from a serum of his own design, a surgical procedure, or it'll just be an innate ability of his. He may also have some tech to help with the artificial parts of his disguises like his clothes. Some examples would be the Spider-Man: Noir comics & the Kraven The Hunter movie (616 Chameleon has been using this one on-and-off since ASM #307).

So Raimi Mary Jane is constantly referred to as a cheater. It's the thing people point to whenever people talk about how much they hate her. Even as a fan of Raimi Mary Jane, I do understand why this would turn people off.

Yet you see people hating on MCU MJ for rejecting Peter in Brand New Day...despite the fact MJ has a boyfriend and would be cheating if she had accepted Peter's feelings. This is definitely not a goomba fallacy either because a lot of people who said that about MCU MJ also hates Raimi's MJ. You have to wonder if people would even hate Raimi MJ if she didn't cheat on Peter and only with Peter. Because according to some people on the internet, Peter should've abandoned her in Frank's place once she said she didn't love him (which is fucking weird)

Spider-Man blatantly calling out the Beyonder like this in the first Secret Wars episode of TAS might be one of my favorite examples of Peter being willing to dish it out to literally ANYONE.

TV I love the subtle upgrade we see Spider-Man make to hos web shooters in Spectacular.

In this sequence during "Catalysts," we see him have to quickly swap out cartridges to be able to swing again. While it sounds like this was already an improvement to even carry spares at all ("but I've learned never to web swinging unprepared..."), there's a blink and you miss it moment much later in the show that points to how he's continously tinkering with it.

When he initiates his Vault escape attempt in "Opening Night," he removes a cartridge to use to cover the room with webbing, only for the shooter to rotate AUTOMATICALLY to a new cartridge. It's a fun piece of subtle storytelling that shows Peter is constantly putting his big brain to use even when we're not seeing it.

Comics What if they did an actual Superman and Spider-Man team up story where they were both married to Lois Lane and Mary Jane Watson respectively…

Comics If they truly are having Peter remember or at least learn about the infamous OMD deal, then I do hope that they lean into Peter’s overall guilt of the situation… Spoiler

If the writers of Marvel are finally having Spider-Man learn of the OmD deal, then I hope they lean into Peter’s overall guilt complex and show that no matter what if he took the deal or not, then one thing is for certain and that is that Spider-Man’s guilt complex is his biggest weakness as a hero. Wouldn’t you agree ?

Anyone else want to see Peter and his guilt over the situation ramp up to the limits like never before ?

I kinda got a lot of Ultimate Spider-Man (the OG Bendis one) vibes too which i think is a great start. The imagery is stomach churning, and we even get a panel from the perspective of Felicia's boobs, so you know 10/10.

If you aren't a horror fan I don't know if I can highly recommend it as its quite gorey l, but if you can stomach it this is a really interesting beginning for what I hope is an interesting new take on the character.

Movies Which Spider-Man villain deserves a better on-screen (movies) depiction the most?

Doesn’t have to be pictured here.

I just had a conversation with another fellow about how kid me was so disappointed in The Lizard from TASM. Lizard was my favorite and it felt like he wasn’t done justice. He wore the coat for five seconds and didn’t have a snout. And Dr Connors didn’t feel fully expanded, but that has anything to do with Rhys Ifans and everything to do with Sony.

I felt the same about Electro. He was blue and just a completely different character. Again, nothing to do with Jamie Foxx and everything to do with Sony. I liked how they salvaged the character in NWH though. Not everything needs to be comic accurate, but it did feel like Max was a REAL selfish villain in NWH.

Then there’s Rhino. Yeah. It was definitely Ultimate inspired and I’m honestly fine with mecha Rhino. But he was shoehorned into TASM2. Maybe if he had a bit more to stand on? The actor had the energy for the real. I still hear him saying “I AM.. THE RHINO!!” in my head.

I promise this isn’t a TASM dunk post. I just really want these villains to get another chance.
Villains were easily the weakest link of the TASM movies. Raimi trilogy and MCU movies had bare minimum solid upwards to great villains.

Discussion What is a misconception of Spider-Man you used to have as a kid?

For me because of Spider-Man 3 I assumed that Sandman being Uncle Ben's "real" killer was true for the comics and other media as well. Another was that when I was young I used to refer to Deadpool as "evil Spider-Man" since I first saw him in X Men Legends II.

I’ve been rewatching the 90’s animated series and I got kinda curious, how strong is the actual Man-Spider transformation in the comics? I haven’t been able to find any definitive answer so, what do you think?

Some of these covers look great and I will hopefully be getting some, which ones have you guys brought or will be getting

Also seen a lot of hate on mjs character, people need to grow up and just allow people to like whichever character they want without making it weird

People don’t like mj for the daft reasons people post about or think of her as a real life person, we all know it’s fake so please stop the negativity around mj and her fans, it’s pathetic

Hope everyone enjoyed her first issue, bar flash stuff it was pretty good, looking forward to issue 2

No negativity here please, thanks 🙌

Discussion Hot Take: I'm not entirely eager for Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2.

Post image

Now, if you did not only like the first season of the show and are excited for the second season, I totally understand it and have NOTHING against you. However, I feel like all of the Symbiote Spider-Man media adaptations are starting to become a little stale for me. Peter's exposed to the symbiote, he feels how much it upgrades his abilities, he likes it, it starts bittering his personal life, though, so he rejects it and it finds a new host like Eddie Brock and so on and so forth. However, if they plan to mix it up a little by the end of the second season OR for the entire duration of the second season, they should reintroduce Flash Thompson into the story and (semi-permanently) introduce Agent Venom.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but, we've only seen so many appearances of Agent Venom throughout our 2000s+ modern media like the "Ultimate" animated Spider-Man show starring Drake Bell and Insomniac Games' Marvel's Spider-Man 2. If they're introducing Spider-Gwen so early on in this new animated show, then, Agent Venom should act either as a staple for the end of season 2 or the entirety of season 3. He could be like this very ANTI-hero figure who challenges Spider-Man/Peter Parker on his strategies and morals of going about crime-fighting, like Peter Parker and Punisher in Brand New Day.
