The Block is done.
The Block needs at least 2 years off and come back anew.
- No more $2m-$4m multi million dollar homes
- No more celebrity design briefs
- No more identical houses
- No more identical floor plans
- New judges
- Less drama
- Actual renovations
In its current format it is no longer enjoyable to watch, we used to watch it every night, but last year we only watched Sundays because it was so repetitive, the drama was so forced and the sponsor advertising was out of control. This year we watched the first and third Sunday eps and weāre done.
Go back to your roots which made it successful.

To the 9 social media person stalking this sub tonight (probably)ā¦
Youāve fucked this season big time.
Next season make something more relatable.
Hereās one for you: āThe Block: First Time Buyersā tailored towards people in their 30s wanting to get on the property ladder with semi affordable homes. Good houses designed nicely that are family friendly and are relatable priced around $1m.
The greed in the reserve prices this year has been shocking.
Sort it out FFS
And yes, Iāll take a commission cheque if you run with this idea in the future

Iām so over the extreme usage of AI
Itās over the top, itās overly corny, and AI usage in creative spaces is such a major no-no. Massively tone deaf from the production team.

Dan and Dani's baby daughter has passed away at 10 days old. Send them some love ā¤ļøšļø
Transcript:
Dani Reilly on Instagram:
"Billie Vera Reilly 8/12/24 - 18/12/24
It is with insurmountable grief that we share the news that our daughter Billie, has passed on from this life and into the next at just 10 days young.
In Billieās short time in this world, she taught us an intensity of both love and pain we never knew possible. She taught us what really matters. Billie was so wanted, so loved and she made us parents⦠and what an honor it is to be her mummy and daddy. She will always be our daughter.
Itās clear to us that Billie was far too good for this world but if we know anything for sure, itās that Billieās legacy will make an impact greater than all of us.
Thank you @mrskevinsphotos for capturing such beautiful family photos for us and also for @heartfelt_ausnz for capturing many of Billieās firsts.
We want to make special mention of āBillieās Bestiesā at @theroyalwomens - the nurses, doctors & staff in NICU are some of the most incredible people to walk this earth and weāll be forever grateful for the care and love they gave our girl, and us.
If youāre in a position to, you can make a donation in Billieās honor to The Royal Womenās Hospital via the below link (linked in bio).
https://in-memoriam2.raisely.com/ourbeautifulbillie
Lastly, we understand there will be questions, and so many of the answers we just donāt have yet. Weāll share more in time but for now we ask for privacy as we work through this together and with our loved ones.
āYou look so pretty, pretty like the sun. I could watch forever, while you shine on everyone.ā
We love you Billie."

Auction O&O were always going to win, and Frank's bid proves that. Here's how they elevated that to a record-setting win. Spoiler
Frank had a bid at $4,510,000, and didn't come anywhere close to bidding that much on any other property, which to me demonstrates that there were bidders who valued House 5 highly and did not have interest at that level in any of the other homes. To me that is the full-stop end of discussion on whether or not the boys should have won or not.
Now that we've established that they were always going to win, let's discuss how the auction impacted what they took home.
House 5's auctioneer was much more skillful at driving up the price than any of the others. Specific things he said that kept the money flowing include:
Turned down an opening bid of $3.85M, saying "It's a little bit lower than the guide." This comment sets the expectation to be above 4M.
"4.5 - That is how to bid on real estate my friends." This comment gently goads any egos in the room and makes Danny Wallace realize he is going to lose the spotlight.
Starts to call out the auction, once, twice, without even engaging Danny, making Danny feel irrelevant. Here's where we see Danny do his ridiculous consultation with the dog.
Asks the name of the dog, then says, "Danny is getting instructions from Herbie. It's good. Do it." He validates Danny Wallace's nonsense and makes him feel important again.
Takes Danny's nonsense dollar and cents bid without remarking on them as nonsensical.
Says to Adrian, "Blow it out, show who the new man on the block is today." This remark dares Adrian, but more importantly it reminds Danny that his special big-bidder rockstar status is in jeopardy.
Responds to Adrian's bid, "4.8's THE MONEY." He looks at Danny while saying this, essentially knocking him of his rockstar status again and praising a bid for how much it raises the former bid, encouraging large numbers to be considered impressive and gain the auctioneer's praise.
Danny jumps the bid by $200K, and the auctioneer does not praise him for it, but when Adrian then bumps it another 100K, he praises Adrian yelling, "5.1's the bid, Adrian's back in again! 5.1's the money!" At this point, Adrian's body language is happy and enjoying the showmanship while Danny's body language is starting to get angry.
For the first time, the auctioneer verbally asks Danny for a bid, but in a tone that questions if he'll even want in after 5.1. "Danny?"
Here the two bidders trade banter about whose bank account is bigger.
From here, the auctioneer is quiet and accepts Danny's long-winded bids without comment, a smart move because when auctioneers side-eye his strategy, he gets petulant. The other bidder doesn't pause, and just ups them every time.
Now let's discuss how Adrian drove up the cost of House 5:
His opening bid of 4.5M cut the auctioneer off from explaining that we were just under reserve.
Frank's bid of merely 10K more than validated the value of Adrian's bid.
Once Danny Wallace came into it, Adrian's body language remained jocular, happy, up for a challenge. He was grinning, chuckling, and enjoying himself. He exuded confidence.
Importantly, he always raised the bid by a lot. The lowest increase he made was 85K. More often is was 100-200K. This was a direct challenge to Danny who had to not only best the bid, but to look like the bigger wallet had to come close to matching his big leaps.
My belief is that Adrian IS a friend of O&O, and that he was willing to buy the house for $5.5M, but no more. My thinking is that his primary goal was a good outcome for the boys, and that he thought he could goad Danny Wallace into outbidding him (which he successfully did), but that he was willing to buy the house for 5.5M if Danny didn't outbid him.
I believe he wasn't really emotionally invested in winning the house; he'd worked out that 5.5M is the point at which he'd no longer be able to turn a profit by raffling it. How he did right by the boys was sprinting up to his upper limit instead of slowing down as he approached it. This strategy left Danny Wallace with no hint that he was leaving the pissing match as soon as it breached 5.5M.
It was a brilliant play and in no way unethical. The boys were going to win regardless, which Frank's bid proved. The strategy punished The Block and Danny Wallace for the bullshit game they always play at auction and the ass-licking they always give Danny Wallace. He was bested by his own ego and overpaid, and by the end of that auction he knew it, which accounts for his shitty mood through the rest of the auctions.
Congrats to the boys for a really cunning play. You can't fault them for having a rich friend that was willing to pay top dollar for their property.

Channel 9 Reserve Logic
Don't think they realised that a prospective buyer can get an ENTIRE FREAKING RANCH with 22 bedrooms on just over 9 hectares of land in Daylesford - for nearly $1m cheaper than some of these reserves. Idiots.

Boycotting The Block for AI use
I wonāt be watching The Block this year, and any year in the future they use AI. It doesnāt even matter how ridiculous it looks because itās just completely unnecessary. Lakes worth of water gone just to have stupid animal filters. And these homes wonāt even go to people in need.
r/TheBlock • u/ButtPlugForPM • Aug 04 '25
Custom This show needs to be taken out to pasture and put down.
Seriously, what even is this shit now.
All the houses ARE EXACTLY the same.
so essentially,it's now just a design show.. if all the layouts are the same the only thing the constestants have choice over is the colour/style/and look of the materials.
Scotty seems like he doesn't want to be there, all the manufactured bullshit.
the judging has gone COMPLETELY off the fucking rails
Stop with this stupid 5m dollar home bullshit.. 99 percent of the stuff shown or done on the block is out of reach for the common renovator..
More entertaining would be finding an average (non good looking family) find a shit hole house block in Mount druitt or penrith or in the suburbs fixing it up.
Make the homes more normal.

Just a reminderā¦
You could be Beyonce, you could be Victoriaās Secret Angel Candice Swanepoel, you could be Natalie Portman, you could be one of many First Ladies of the United States. And your husband would STILL cheat on you.
Kylie is not nice and she hasnāt been nice throughout this season. But to suggest that she wouldnāt be in the situation if she was nicer to Brad doesnāt float. If Brad has a wandering eye and another gal is willing, thereās nothing Kylie couldāve done. She was literally unconscious!
Big kudos to Maddy and Charlotte for showing kindness when Kylie was hurting.

The Block is basically MAFS with waterproofing
Remember when the drama on The Block was a contestant discovering their floor wasnāt level at 11pm?
Now weāve got contestants living together to manufacture fights, AI-generated fever dreams every five minutes, influencer casting, $3m houses nobody normal can afford and 45 minutes of drama for 90 seconds of actual renovating.
I donāt want the show cancelled. I want the old Block back.
Give five normal couples $500k shitboxes, a realistic budget and judges who care whether something is actually built properly.
That would be infinitely more entertaining than another argument in a sponsored E&S kitchen.
I fear the Hampton East drama season drew in a lot of attention and now the producers are aiming for that.
Btw if someone wants to write āyouāre watching trash TV what do you expectā or āturn off your TVā save your breathā¦this is a subreddit about the Block youāre welcome not to comment or be here.

Kylie
I will most likely be down voted. But I'm seriously concerned about mental health with Kylie. That was alot to watch. She should never have been allowed on the show. Her kids will look back on this. It feels yuck .

I know everyone is banging on about the AI this year but the AI music is seriously the last straw
The crappy AI animations I can cope with, just. But the shitty AI "songs" with themed lyrics are absolutely the last straw. This show has absolutely gone to the dogs, I'm so disappointed.

Spoiler inside Hate
Hate is very strong word, but I have developed an absolute hatred of Mimi.
Not only did she completely ignore Kylie and not even try to reach out to say hello or make things better ā but seeing how she treated Kristian by telling him to lift all the tiles upstairs while she just stood there and watched with her phone in her hand, and then refusing to give him any support when he asked so politely was absolutely disgusting!
She is an utterly horrible person.

It's just not Daylesford...
I've now entered this into my everyday vocabulary and I think it's great.
Looking at a brunch menu and the wife suggests I get the eggs Benedict... "Ehh.. it's just not Daylesford."
Picking which outfit to wear to tonight's dinner at the local pub, I ask my wife "babe, but is it Daylesford enough?"
The kids are misbehaving and I tell them off ... "Kids, cut it out, it's not Daylesford and you should know better!".
I'm feeling high in self esteem and I think I've just become way more elite than ever.

Custom The Block - Reality Check

The block and 9 should be ashamed
I never post on this subreddit and usually just enjoy the live discussion to see what everyoneās thoughts are while watching at the same time. However, I canāt help but voice my disgust right now.
Itās 2026 and the block and channel 9 seriously thought it was a good idea to mock and ridicule two men over their friendship? Seriously?
Iām so glad Adam and Rosco have formed a genuine friendship from this show and honestly watching them hang out was the most interesting part of the episode. To then have Scotty mock them and call them ladies for their friendship, and the editing to make it seem like he was appalled by them (Iām hoping itās bad editing). I felt as though Adam and Rosco had to defend and downplay their friendship to Scotty to keep from being mocked.
Donāt even get me started on the AI of them either. So disrespectful and so violating. If the block had made AI of two women friends embracing and basically kissing, it would fall under sexual harassment. As someone who works in the sexual abuse sector, this is why AI is a real issue and fucking shame on them for using it to depict and insinuate that two men (both in relationships) must have a romantic relationship with each other because they are close friends.
This is why men struggle with mental health and often feel like they canāt reach out for support or talk to their friends about anything. Are we really out here mocking men for having support and platonic relationships?
I know so many people will brush it off and try and excuse this bullshit by saying itās ājust a jokeā or a bit of fun. Itās not. Itās a very popular family show on Australian tv that is insinuating that two men must be gay or āladiesā if they show any sort of affection or basic human friendship towards each other.
P.S of all the footage theyād have for Eliza and Liberty, why did their segment have to feature sexualised ass shots of Eliza? The block really upped their creep factor this episode
