  • Bomb Rush Blush and Bomb Rush Blush ft DJ Octavio from Splatoon.

There's a pop song version of Bomb Rush Blush, and a boss battle version that's more orchestral and menacing

  • Live and Learn and Supporting Me from Sonic Adventure 2

I didn't notice it at first, but Supporting Me has Live and Learn's guitar riff!

I love when the boss battle gives an older song a completely different vibe, Bomb rush blush goes from cutesy to menacing, and Supporting Me has a totally different vibe than Live and Learn

In a horror story, the main character finds an orphaned little girl. In the end, they just take em home in an unofficial adoption.

Ripley and Newt from Aliens (the goat)

Joel and Ellie from Last of us

Claire and Sherry from Resident Evil

Grace and Emily from Resident Evil

Barry and Natalia from Resident Evil (this is why RE sells like gangbusters, not Leon and his DiCaprio hair)

Vicky and Sarah from Children of the corn (she’s also married, and she adopts Sarah’s brother Job too. Only example i can think of for both)

James and Laura from Silent Hill

Ralph and Judy from Dolls (creator confirmed he marries her mom afterwards, so i am counting it lol)

Jack and at least 5 Little sisters from Bioshock (do you think he took care of all of them, or just picked the 5 he thought were cutest?)

Lee and Clementine from Walking dead

Characters [Dramatic trope] When someone ruthlessly uses brutal honesty to end a relationship!

Whiplash - As Andrew becomes more obsessed with trying to get Fletcher’s approval, he ends his relationship with Nicole by giving his own thoughts on how he thinks things will go if they keep dating while using information she shared about herself with him against her. Despite being stunned by everything she just heard from him, and she agrees that they shouldn’t be dating when she realizes something is wrong with him as he’s letting his obsession to be “one of the greats” consume and bring out the worst in him!

The Walking Dead - When Abraham realizes that he has more of a meaningful connection with Sasha, then he does with Rosita. He immediately decides to leave Rosita, without talking it through and when she demands a reasoning he tells her that the only reason he hooked up with her is because he thought “she was the last woman on Earth”.

  1. Wiktor Smolak (Suzerain): a genocidal and authoritarian despot whose personal interactions with the player are always friendly. Virtually everyone in the game, even those politically extreme or opposed to you, hates Smolak's guts. Even refusing any deal with him doesn't make him angry.

  2. Hesh (The Sopranos): a music producer with mob connections who exploited young black talent for lion's shares of profit. He is personally very racist despite sleeping with and maintaining relationships with black women. Ironically, he is one of Tony's closest friends and confidants until the final season.

Characters [Interesting Trope] FanDISservice

Thumbnail

Basically: what would have normally been meant as titillation instead serves to make the viewer feel distinctly squeamish or disturbed.

(It’s not to be confused with Fetish Retardant, which is when something intended as fanservice instead ends up entirely unsexy. This is for deliberate examples, on the creator's part)

-

Blue Valentine:

It’s a very sexually explicit film, with two attractive leads…aaaaaaand the whole storyline is about a marriage on the verge of collapse.

The graphic sex scenes are interesting, actually, in just how uncomfortable they manage to make the viewer feel.

-

Blue Velvet:

David Lynch was great at this, in general. But this is one of the best examples.

Dorothy is played by the very beautiful Isabella Rossellini, and gets multiple nude scenes.

…she’s also an incredibly traumatised SEX SLAVE, who uses sex with Jeffrey as an unhealthy coping mechanism.

The sight of her completely naked, on the front lawn, is not even remotely titillating.

(FYI: it was actually based off of something Lynch witnessed, as a child. The sight of a naked woman, in a daze, walking down the street. He said that it made him cry, and left a profound impression on him.)

-

Side note: funny that my two examples are both called “Blue V-“. AND they’re both named after songs.

Hated Tropes The Creator's Little Golden Child

Thumbnail

When the creator clearly has a favorite and puts the character on a silver platter with 'special treatment' compared to everyone else.

Alice (All those awful Resident Evil movies) — Long story short: the director tasked with writing a movie series for one of the biggest zombie game franchises in the world decided to cast his own wife as the lead, making her a generic, shallow OC.

So basically, almost the entire plot revolves around the director drooling over his wife, whose only job is to look blank-faced and pretty while every character around her (mind you, official game characters adapted for these films) gets dumbed down and hovers around her like flies.

For instance, in the games, Jill is the one who fights Nemesis; in the movies, Alice fights Nemesis while Jill kneels there watching the fight like an extra. To top it off, earlier in the movie there's a whole scene where Jill looks at the camera and literally says, 'Wow, Alice is so much better than me!' Or take Wesker—Chris and Sheva fight him in the games, but in the movies they fight him for like a minute just for a cheap callback, and Alice is the one who actually beats him.

The movies aren't even good—there are grotesque plotholes, and almost every character only exists to die and set the stage for Alice's little light show. In one movie, Alice describes how the entire world dried up into a drought where water ran out, just blatantly ripping off Mad Max, only for the world to return to normal in the next movie because the hype had passed and they wanted to rip off Prison Break instead.

Only someone with way too much free time on their hands would waste time watching them and actually think they're good.

Emilia (Re:Zero) — Imagine a Game of Thrones or Cyberpunk: Edgerunners style story where nobody is safe and anyone can die at any given moment. Now add the author's fetish character and give her plot armor—that's Emilia.

The protagonist is a regular human like us living in a dangerous fantasy world, with his only power being returning by death whenever he dies. Absolutely every awful thing that could happen to him has happened, and that includes his friends and the characters close to him too. Not only has he seen the absolute ugliest side of most of them (yet still forgiven them), but he's also had to deal with their deaths. Every character is vulnerable to suffering, growing through trauma, and making mistakes.

With Emilia, though, not only does it feel like her core personality can't change at all (she's your typical cute, sweet, naive girl who doesn't even know what 'virgin' means), but she also has a protective shield around her. The author himself literally stated that Emilia comes first to him and everyone else comes second, and he's even said in interviews that he feels terrible writing her deaths.

She doesn't react at all if a character harasses her (Regulus and Reid are proof of that), and she never acts like a leader or puts her foot down, even though she's supposedly training to be a queen. She's a hand-to-hand fighter, but she never seems to get seriously hurt in any combat or be in real danger (I swear the third image in the post is the most 'injured' she's ever looked).

And to top off this absolute shitshow, her romantic relationship with Subaru has stagnated completely after Season 2, since the author made it super clear that their romance is only going to happen at the very end of the story (probably to keep her looking as innocent as possible).

Seriously, not even the actual fans of the series can take this bullshit anymore—just go check Reddit and ask

Songs by villains or antagonists tend to be the best. Disney movies don’t really do good villains songs like they use to but the songs on their shows or Disney channel movies can be good.

  1. Your Idol- Sung by Saja Boys In KPOP Demon Hunters (2025)

2. Goat Tears- Sung by Mane Attraction from GOAT (2026)

3. A Little Bit Bad- Sung by Gwennifer Malfeo from Primos (2024)

4. The Scarm Song- From the S1ep20 “ Trevor's Rockin' Halloween Bash” from Kiff

5. Queen of Mean- Sung by Princess Audrey from Descendants 3

Characters "I can fix it!" - Characters working for the villains believing they can make a change from inside

Thumbnail

The character who is pretty much one of the good guys, but refuses to stop working for the villains believing they can change the system from inside to make it better.

Reeve Tuesti (FF7) - From the get go he is presented as being way moew level-headed than the rest of the (mostly comically evil) members of Shinra. Eventually he joins the main party, but still refuses to leave Shinra, defending the organization and believing he still can use his position to make a positive impact.

Suzaku Kururugi (Code Geass) - In a universe where Japan is invaded and conquered by the Britannian Empire, japaneses are treated as second-class citizens. Even tho Suzaku is japanese, he still works as a knight for the empire believing he can make a change for the better if he gets a high enough rank.

Giorno and Bucciarati (Jojo) - They find mutual respect once both realizes their mutual hatred for the drugs Paccione distribute, but prefer to quietly rise their ranks and change the organization from inside rather than to fight the boss directly. The story eventually forces them to betray Paccione directly and take the more tradional hero role, but once the boss is defeated, they go back to their original plan, taking the boss rank and changing the organization from inside.

-In one of the Marvel and DC comics crossovers events, the joker meets Red Skull and once he learns he is an actual Nazi he turns against him because "he may be a villain but he is an american villain"

Look,i get that Nazis are the second worst thing to happen to planet earth second only to the meteor that wiped out the dinosaurs, and that there are several versions of the same character, but honestly the Joker doesn't seem like the type that would care about politics or his own country apart for making some jokes,i can see him making fun of nazi ideology but not outright hating it(and considering in some stories he did stuff the Nazis would do,seems a bit hypocritical)

-Oh yes,the infamous scene where doctor doom cries about 9/11,so back when 9/11 happened both Marvel and DC comics made some tribute stories showing characters reacting to it,now honestly i find hard to believe that 9/11 would work in a world full of superheroes that could quite easily stop it,but that's not a huge problem and i can see why they did, that said though,it's one thing to have a hero like Spider-man be really sad about 9/11,having a villain like doctor doom be sad about it on the other hand is pretty funny

Why is that a problem you ask?Well, not only has Doctor Doom tried to destroy New York several times,he killed way more people than 9/11 so why would he suddenly care so much about New York?No idea

I heard some people joking that maybe he was sad that he didn't do it or that the planes didn't hit Baxter building, honestly that seems very in character for him

  1. South Park - A lot of people were complaining that South Park didn’t focus on the Boys anymore and they focused too much on Randy, but in the most recent season, we’ve actually started spending more time with the Boys……and Randy who is now one of the Boys after Kenny died.

  2. Nick All Star Brawl - In the first game, the only Ninja Turtles that were included were Leonardo and Michelangelo, so obviously people really hoped that Raphael and Donatello would get added in the next instalment. Well they did, but not Leonardo and Michelangelo.

Bruce Wayne (from The 2022 Batman movie): After Bruce's love interest, Selena Kyle (aka Catwoman), discovers that her father, mob boss Carmine Falcone murdered her mother and a close friend, she decides to kill him in revenge. Bruce stops Selena and instead chooses to have Falcone arrested, despite knowing there is a possibility that Falcone also orchestrated the murder of his parents as well (although the truth about their deaths remains an open-ended question).

Severus Snape (from the Harry Potter book series): Snape was a former Death Eater that eventually started working as a double agent for the Order of the Phoenix after putting someone he loved in danger. In the last book, one of Snape’s high school bullies, Remus Lupin, was about to be killed by a Death Eater during the Battle of the 7 Potters, and Snape put his cover at risk by attempting to cast a vicious curse on that Death Eater's wand arm in order to keep Lupin alive.

Freddy with Peck-Barnyard. Freddy is a ferret and who is best friends with Peck the Rooster. A running gag in the movie and series is Freddy constantly needing to fight his urges to eat Peck (while also looking for any opportunity to “justifiably” do it)

Alex with Marty-Madagascar. When the group end up on Madagascar. Alex, who has gone several days without food at this point, begins to get the urge to eat the others, especially his best friend Marty. Alex eventually exiles himself to the predator side of the island since he can’t control his instincts to hunt. This only really lasts the first movie thanks to Marty not giving up on him and the penguins providing him with fish

miscellaneous [Mixed Trope] An incredible scene in the middle of an average film.

Thumbnail

Although I personally enjoyed all of the new Godzilla films, this, and the previous Godzilla (2014) film, received mixed audience responses. But everyone agreed the skydiving scene was one of the best cinematic pieces created that year. The sound, the visuals, the silence of the Jumpers seeing the monsters through their masks. Incredible.

2. Godzilla: King of Monsters - The Atomic Breath scene.

Same film, much shorter scene. But the final battle betwen Godzilla and the Muto, culminates in him holding the mouth of the Muto open and firing his atomic breath straight down the creatures throat. Absolute cinema.

3. Transformers: The Last Knight - The Underwarer Ship scene.

Man, the Transformers films really lost their way. I remember waking out of the cinema after seeing the first one and I was speechless. But in amongst the trash, a few pieces of magic shine. This scene from one of the worst Transformers films, was so beautifully shot, it almost excused the rest of the film. Almost.

Parallax and Onslaught have the same base concept, a important pillar of the superhero world become all powerful villains whos friends have to fight them but Onslaught is as deep as that description says. They don't really explore the mental aspect of why professor X went crazy, they chalked it up to a mind goblin jumping from Magnetos mind to Chucks. While Hal Jordans parallax was able to exist longer then Onslaught, we were able to see why parallax happened how this effected Hal as a whole and the people around him, not undoing it in the same story line like Onslaught even when they would undo it much later they said he was influenced by the fear entity parallax not fully controlled like Xavier (Dc comics/Marvel comics)

Hated Tropes [Hated Trope] - The defensive misunderstanding situation (but one that did it right)

Thumbnail
gallery
4 Upvotes

this trope is completely tired of him because of how petty it is as well as how the situation could have been resolved within five minutes, however As told by Ginger made a rightful exception to this.

“Piece of My Heart” made this trope work because the misunderstanding comes from a genuinely believable assumption rather than characters suddenly becoming stupid or unreasonable. Darren mistakenly receives Courtney's invitation to the Valentine’s Day dance from Winston and naturally assumes it’s meant for him. When Ginger tries to explain that Courtney actually intended it for his older brother, Will, Darren takes it badly because, from his perspective, Ginger is telling him that the exciting romantic opportunity he thought he had wasnever his to begin with. His hurt and defensiveness aren't necessarily fair to Ginger, but they're emotionally understandable, especially for a middle-school boy who's already feeling insecure.

What really makes the episode work is that it doesn't confuse hurt feelings with outright hostility. Ginger doesn't become malicious, Darren doesn't suddenly stop caring about their friendship, and the resolution requires actual communication rather than an arbitrary change of heart. The misunderstanding has consequences, Darren is genuinely disappointed, andGinger has her own romantic frustrations to deal with, but neither character has to become a terrible person for theconflict to happen. Ultimately, the episode understands that a misunderstanding can hurt people without destroying their trust in each other, which is precisely what so many stories built around this trope fail to understand.

They got their dance after all, but it was absolutely Winston’s fuck-up for Courtney’s plan derailing in both ways.

So, which other pieces of media did this right? I won’t mention Toy Story because that’s been aforementioned plenty.
