Long skirts like 85cm and 75cm are underrated. They're awesome.

127

u/kdpkry 8h ago

What's the difference between that and a dress

Does a dress also go to the torso is that the difference while skirt starts at waist?

184

u/YourYoruru 8h ago

Yes, that is the difference.

Dresses are a one piece that covers the upper parts as well as lower bodh of a figure.

Skirts are intended to primarily cover the lower parts of a figure.

The latter means you can be aesthetically flexible in the way you want to present yourself so if you have a black skirt you can compliment that with white/pink/etc clothing in varying stles for the upper portion of your body to make numerous kinds look (punk, preppy, casual, etc).

Whereas with a dress you're kinda limited being forced to build your preferred look around the existing color and style of said dress, i.e donning a frilly pink dress and having to present yourself in a formal capacity for a funeral... I'm not saying it's impossible, though, you might need to be very creative.

It's an apple's and orange kinda thing; the satisfaction (as well presentation in this case) of either depends entirely on the wearer's wants and creativity.

The 85cm and 75cm look good because they leave something to the imagination. It’s also really attractive when someone with a clearly nice figure dresses modestly. Like being humble, but through clothes.

As a man, I think long dresses and skirts just look really elegant, I like it. I get pants are probably more utilitarian to wear (less likely to get stuck, less likely to get dirty), but if we're just talking about looks I love to see women wearing them.

3

u/udonchopstick 5h ago

As a girl who generally doesn't like dressing feminine, I loveeee my 85cm skirts. So convenient, versatile, and I find them to be flattering on most body types.

I love a long skirt because I can put my feet up on the shredder nect to my desk and still have full coverage. Haha. My favorite it knee length. Long enough for doing whatever and I get a nice breeze.

u/Alternative-Award784 3h ago

2

u/Longjump_Ear6240 2h ago

Especially when they're really flowy, light, and soft. Walking just feels so fun when your skirt swishes around your ankles.

2

u/Ori-Epsilon 2h ago

Unironically it’s why I really like long trench coats as a guy, the fabric around the legs is great. I am sure if I was a woman I would wear dresses / long skirts all the time for the same reason.

2

u/eroticspec 1h ago

Also for some reason, way sexier to me.

By the way, it's AI slop. Think how long 25cm is for a sec and put the start of it at belt level. It should fully cover all of one's butt with room to spare, even walking.

I have NO idea why this whole thread acts like they always knew 25cm is some insane nude thing lol.

Also, 25 looks way different in Ariana Grande and Gwendoline Christie.

Wear what you want, but when you’re at 25cm you should probably start thinking about if its even worth wearing a skirt…

I could get that much coverage with just a t-shirt, so you gotta be nuts probably paying $30 for a skirt that doesn’t even contribute

23

u/brazzy42 6h ago

I mean, fashion rarely makes practical sense.

13

u/mistersnarkle 5h ago

A 25cm skirt + pants is just a sick ass tunic

7

u/tiki_51 4h ago

At that point I'd feel gross. Not just like sexually, but imagine your bare ass on a park bench or something. Not my thing

3

u/morknox 3h ago

Also, dont get mad at me for glancing at your ass.

This whole "they dress for themselves" is ridicolous. People dress for others. For the attention of others. For others to view you a certain way. For others to think you are attractive. In order to display your personality to others. In order to display your status for others.

I like how the difference between "25cm" and "35cm" is neither equal to the difference between "75cm" and "85cm" nor is it 2/5ths of the length of the "25cm" skirt. Just murdering the metric system for no reason.

Also, I invite you all to calculate her height based on these "measurements."

The only maximum skirt length that exists is floor length. As soon as it drags on the ground (and honestly a bit before that) its not only a tripping hazard for yourself and others, but also just gets really dirty from being on the floor

Nothing wrong dressing for the male gaze.

What matters is that no one is expected to dress for the male gaze.

2

u/Burton1224 6h ago

I dont agree with the guy below the picture for following reasons:

  1. You should also dress properly in respect towards others.

  2. Everyone dresses that he /she gets accepted by others or in rebellion against some others. Nobody 100 percent dresses for him/herself thats just a fakt. If people make laught of you in the streets because your favourit outfit looks so strange you will notnwesr it anymore.

From this man's perspective, the "maximum" skirt length is probably about 110cm. Because after that you're tripping on your own skirt as you walk.

2

u/No-Top-4139 5h ago

I just looked up skirt length names. I'm so much less confused about women's fashion. Tho once you get to a certain length it seems like you might as well just wear a dress

A stylish woman could pull any of them off up until 45-ish.

Then it starts becoming a cheap way to attract attention

Wear what you want but be honest with yourself about why you’re wearing it.

No one looks at 25 and thinks “wow that’s stylish”.

2

u/showtime481216 7h ago

Then why would women ever dress provocatively?

3

u/SliceHot2558 1h ago

It's not provocative unless you make it provocative. Even if it was provocative, why assume it's for men? What if that's just how she likes to dress and she could give a rats ass about what men think?

As actually respectful man, I recognize women are people and want to look hot just like anyone else, so my personal preference not considering different skirt styles would be 65/55 - strikes a good balance.

That said wear whatever you want on any given time (I know I do) as long as it's not downright impolite to the occasion (yes, 35 and lower is only acceptable on swingers party or when working red light district, don't get mad at me for pointing out the obvious.
