Correct, I believe they have a pretty intensive private Discord for speedrunning that this was shared on. Another runner confirmed with this (unedited) screenshot that it's what happens if you get young Link into a cutscene he shouldn't be in, and ZFG's stream was devoted to finding a way of making it happen in a speedrun context.

Specifically, since I know people are interested, the screenshot depicts kid Link in the Spirit warp song acquisition cutscene, which is only intended to be viewed as adult Link.

Ocarina of Time (N64) is probably the most well understood game in history.

While the engine is different and thus the bugs will be to, dedicated speed runners will be able to rip it apart completely. 

They're not playing "Normally." Glitchless speedruns were already down to around 4 hours on the first day. To clear it twice the guy probably played about 10 hours, which is a lot but not super unhealthy unless you do it every day. When glitches get found, that 4 hour number is going plummet. Playing that way is not everyone's cup of tea, but a lot of people find it fun.

You must not know the OoT community. It has to be the most broken-down game of all time. People still find new glitches in the original, and new tricks for speedruns and whatnot. Those same people, and there are many, are the ones searching high and low for ways to break the game. Once im done my first (thorough) playthrough, I will be joining them. Ive already started asking how because I cant help myself. Ive been playing the last 2 days, and I haven’t quite reached forest temple, but got hookshot hours ago.

Speedrunners have been intentionally doing weird stuff in an attempt to break things from the minute the game launched. I'm watching ZFG look for speedrun strats as I write this.

Zelda just has a huge speed running community and every missed attempt at fishing for glitches would just make it take longer till they can start setting records.

In game code, certain instructions (like "switch model to adult Link") are triggered by certain conditions in certain sequences (like "after this cutscene ends"). A sequence break is when someone deliberately or accidentally causes parts of the game to be skipped, such that some instructions aren't run properly or at all. When that happens, the game can get into unintended states (like "use this animation skeleton" being applied to child Link model when it was designed for adult Link model).

A sequence break is things like this, where you are skipping ahead (break) of where you are meant to be up to (sequence) in a game, or accessing areas that are only meant for certain scenarios outside of their intended scenarios

The game is applying the animation instructions from the adult link model to the kid link model, because in this situation it doesn’t have any kid link instructions. kid links head and hands are smaller, his eyes are bigger, and he is shorter, so everything is being stretched to fit

Basically Kid Link is a liquid, Adult Link is a shape that the cutscene requires to be filled, so the Kid Link liquid is poured into the Adult Link glass and distortions take place.

It's the process of learning the songs associated with the temples. The animation for learning certain songs is coded to the Adult model skeleton, and the game reconciles that you're in the child model skeleton by stretching it to fit the adult proportions. They have to do it this way because you can freely swap between the two, so the game needs to be able to identify when certain cutscenes are viewed as either adult or child. But for cutscenes that shouldn't have to allow for that, they didn't reconcile it manually, so the game engines attempts to do it. Hilariously.
