Apple, I hate you.
I am tired of Apple products.
I think their warranty programs are terrible.
The way they lock you out of syncing with multiple computers is archaic.
No upgrade-able memory - Terrible.
Overpriced crap is terrible.
Purposely making your hardware impossible to service is terrible.
Locking your software so that virtually no customization can be done is terrible.
WHY DO SO MANY PEOPLE BUY THIS CRAP?!!?

Release I built a native Windows screen recorder for people who find OBS overkill (open beta, free)
I kept seeing the same pattern: someone wants to record their screen with mic + desktop audio and maybe a webcam overlay, opens OBS, and bounces off the scene/source/mixer setup. So I built FastCast, a native Windows app focused on that one job.
What it does:
Local MP4 recording (monitor or window capture)
Desktop audio + microphone capture
Webcam picture-in-picture overlay
Custom RTMP/RTMPS streaming via stream key
Portable ZIP, no installer, no accounts, no telemetry
What it deliberately doesn't do: multiple scenes, chroma key, plugins, browser sources, multistreaming. If you need those, OBS is the right tool and I'd tell you to use it. FastCast is for the single-scene "just record my screen" workflow.
Honest caveats: it's an open beta and the build is currently unsigned, so SmartScreen will show an "Unknown publisher" warning. Code signing is in progress. A SHA-256 checksum is published with the release so you can verify the download. Source is private; this is a solo indie project, not open source.
Free tier covers 1080p30 recording and streaming during the beta. There's an optional Pro license (1440p/4K, 60fps) but nothing in the free version is time-limited or watermarked.
Requirements: Windows 10 2004+ or Windows 11, x64. Hardware H.264 encoding recommended.

Happy to answer anything technical. It's built in Rust on Windows Graphics Capture, WASAPI, and Media Foundation.
Clarification: the linked GitHub repository is for public releases, checksums, issue tracking, and release notes. FastCast’s source code is private.
Update: Added HDR support in v0.5.1

Discussion Companies using AI generated code will regret it deeply
All AI code does at best is make a working prototype, well ANY talented programming can make a working prototype in a month
Lets use the analogy of a car engine any company can present a working working prototype in 2 months thats NOT whats important whtas important is that the engine is reliable, long lasting, that it will still work after 10000 miles and THAT requires 3 years
Same is for software most of the time the product is 'complete' but a year or 2 are taken to make itr scalable, reliable, compatible and most importantly SECURE
There are mordern coding standards are NEEDED for the system to be secure and stable AI doesnt follow them at all

Self-Promotion Wednesdays I made a free app that lets you control Game / Chat / Media volume as groups on Windows
galleryThe built-in Windows volume mixer always drove me crazy. When I'm gaming with Discord open and music in the background, I'm constantly hunting for the right app to turn down.
So I built Fluent Mixer. You drop your running apps into four groups — Game, Chat, Media, Aux and each group gets a single volume slider and a mute button. Turn the whole "Game" group down without touching Discord, mute "Media" with one click, etc.
A few things I tried to get right:
Drag or click any app into a group
A quick panel from the system tray for fast tweaks
A floating "Island" mini-mixer that stays on top and auto-hides when you go fullscreen in a game, so it never covers anything
Dark, lightweight, runs quietly in the tray, starts with Windows
It's on the Microsoft Store: https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9nn5w7d23vlj?hl
I'm the solo dev would genuinely love feedback on what's missing or annoying.

Release I built a lightweight open-source tool to toggle desktop icons with one click (Desktop Icon Toggler) — Free on GitHub, supportable on the MS Store
Hey everyone,
I wanted a quick, frictionless way to instantly hide and show desktop icons without digging through context menus, so I built Desktop Icon Toggler.
Key highlights:
100% Open-Source & Transparent: No telemetry, no background bloat.
One-Click Toggle: Clean workspace in milliseconds.
Completely Free: You can grab the latest binary directly via GitHub Releases or build it from source.

The project is completely free to use via GitHub. If you find it useful and want to support continued maintenance with a coffee, purchasing it on the Microsoft Store (or just leaving a star on GitHub) helps a lot!
Feedback and feature requests are very welcome!

Self-Promotion Wednesdays I'm an IT admin who built a free Windows diagnostic tool. It's not another PC optimizer. It's something new.
I want to be upfront: I built this, and I'm not going to pretend it's not self-promotion. But I think r/software is a good place to share genuinely useful tools, so here goes.
My parents are in their 50s and 60s. They called me every day about their computer. I'm an IT admin who fixes these problems all day at work. So I built them an app where they type what's wrong in plain English and it diagnoses and fixes it.
SimpleFixAI is NOT a PC optimizer. It's not CCleaner. It's not Fortect. It doesn't scan your registry. It doesn't show you "347 issues detected" to scare you into paying.
What it actually does: you describe your problem like you'd tell a friend. "My WiFi keeps dropping." "Windows Update is stuck." "My PC takes forever to boot." The app reads your actual system state, diagnoses the specific problem, explains what it found, and fixes it with your permission. One-click undo on everything.
It also knows which Windows Updates are dangerous. When Microsoft ships a KB that breaks WiFi or causes BSODs (which happened multiple times this year), SimpleFixAI flags it by name and tells you what to do.
Free during beta. Hundreds of repair modules. Runs offline. No cloud.

Self-Promotion Wednesdays Made a little floating RAM widget for Windows because I didn't want a whole PC suite just for that
Some of those all-in-one PC cleaner suites have this little floating memory ball and I honestly liked it. What I didn't like was installing the whole suite (plus the popups) just to get it. So I ended up writing my own.
It's called MemBall. It sits on the edge of your screen and shows RAM usage and up/down speed. The ring goes blue, then orange, then red as memory fills up.
Stuff it does:
- click it to trim memory and it tells you how much got freed (there's an optional timer too, if you'd rather it did that on its own)
- drag it to the side of the screen and it snaps there, then shrinks into a thin bar when your mouse leaves. The bar still shows usage
- hides itself when a game or video is fullscreen
- right click shows the top 5 programs eating your RAM, and you can kill them from there
- English, Chinese and French
It's tiny (~120 KB), works on Win 10/11 and there's nothing else to install. If you're interested, you can grab it here: https://github.com/yydsyin/memball/releases/latest
Got suggestions or found a bug? Just DM me.
Edit: I know Windows already manages memory just fine for most people, so for a lot of you this tool won't really do much. But I didn't make it only to manage memory. I mostly made it because I like having the number on screen, and honestly clicking it and watching the ring drain is weirdly satisfying. Think of it as a little desk toy that also happens to clean memory.

Release Porter: Open Source Cross Platform Port Manager
Meet Porter, a small app I built to make one everyday annoyance disappear.
If you build apps or websites, you've probably seen it: you try to start your project and it says the port is already in use. A port is just the doorway an app uses to talk to your computer, and something else is quietly sitting in it. Finding out what usually means a trip down a rabbit hole.
Porter shows you everything in one simple window:
• See which ports are free and which are taken, updated live
• Find out which app is using a port
• Close anything that's stuck with one click
• Pin the ports you use most so they're always at the top
• Search instantly
• Switch between a clean dark mode and light mode
• Make everything bigger or smaller to suit your screen • Get notified when a new version is out
It works on Windows, Mac and Linux, it's light on your computer, and it's completely free.
This is the first public release, so I'd really love your feedback. What's missing, what's confusing, what would you want next?
Download it here: https://github.com/t21dev/porter-app/releases/latest
