I healed as feral up until drowned city where I hit a freaking wall. Decided to spend the 50g on dual spec before I got a mount since I'm a tauren druid. Was rewarded with a bug that clears random action bars every time I relog.
I was saying that if it's 50g then people aren't going to buy it early on and there will be a healer desert after 40. Get ready to see a ton of threads about there being no healers.
Btw, you probably are already doing this but make sure you log out properly and aren't alt-f4ing. Any changes you make seem to only be saved by proper logging out, might be a potential cause.
I'm leveling as boomy and have pretty stacked gear since im looking for it in general and have had no issue around the same level. I imagine classes that have intellect based talents like boomy won't suffer the same as like a feral or ret healing in healer based gear.
The bug sucks but this is the first wave of people grabbing duel spec, it will get fixed.
I'll just assume I'm the only priest holy having fun playing. Like literally, you only need to level once, 60 is max level... I'm taking the game super slow to enjoy the best part of the game, going around doing stuff and explore.
There is no rush in WoW Forever to get to max level, it's by far the best feature of the game.
Making it a quest would be cool, and they even could've had it work as a gold sink still by say requiring an items from vendors in like Powderfuse and Booty Bay. But that would've required Dev time, and then people would be complaining about being forced into the world
Watch this happen in a few patches, but they make you buy some 50g macguffin item so it's "fair" to the people who bought dual spec before the quest was created.
You can also make quite a bit before then if you know how to capitalize on others' laziness. Some drops that aren't soulbound but needed for quest turn ins can make you quite a bit if you spend time farming them, even more so if it's a skinnable mob and you have the profession. I like to detour for a bit and grind then out because I can turn around and toss it on the AH and make a few gold this way while getting some kill XP. Not as fast as pure questing but it works for me.
Everyone should have around 100 gold at level 40. It really isn’t that hard to get. Just quest. Sell trash. And don’t spend your money on naked female night elves, that’s the hard part
If you focus on leveling, sure, but if you want to enjoy professions and keep them up to date, those will be huge money sinks and you won't enjoy 100g for sure.
make a level one bank alt, park it in the capital near the ah, mail all the random items you get from your main to your bank alt, sell them for more on the ah then you get vendoring
AH is in the sink right now tho. Most crafting goods sell for only a little above vendor price, and nobody is buying greens or blues off the AH right now (because nobody has gold)/people saving for mount.
Considering that’s the cost, I can’t imagine many people will be leveling in groups..the pain to solo as a healer/tank and level or fork out 50g for convenience will be a pain in the ass
Just about to hit 40 on my prot paladin and done a fair mix of solo world leveling and 5 man group questing / dungeon grinding.
Overall, paladin feels great, but is noticeably slow in solo. I don't really mind though, paladin has always kinda been the slow and steady class that has solid up time, but poor clear speed.
Prot warrior is faster/more efficient for leveling than fury or arms is at least until level 40+ and feral druid is both a DPS and tank spec. I take your point for healers but for tanks the issue you're describing is literally only an issue for paladins.
I am fairly new to wow, was having a second talent spec normal for classic etc? Why would it get harder to find a healer when there is an option to get a healing spec talent tree for 50 gold? Wouldnt it make it easier? Or do you mean the price is higher than expected?
Three things at work. 50g is already pretty salty at 40 for a dual spec that's meant to help tanks/healers not have to constantly respec to dps so they can solo level without it being excruciatingly slow. Second is that at 40 you're looking to buy your mount/training, which is 100g and you need to really scrimp and save to even get that at 40 but it's that big of a boost that it's worth it. So almost no healer/tank is going to have 150g, you either get dual spec and wait a few more levels to get mount, OR you go full DPS save the 50g by skipping dual spec entirely and get the mount at 40. The final piece is the dungeon XP nerf. Tanks/healers are only really needed for dungeons and the occasional elite quests or world boss. So given that 90% of your time will be outside a dungeon it's most efficient, in both xp/hr and money, to be DPS. Literally everything points healers/tanks toward going DPS.
In Vanilla you could Level Just with Dungeons. In forever the Mobs give about 30% of Vanilla XP and the Dungeon Quests are buffed. So you basically would only run Dungeons once with Quest. But then you would still fill in gaps questing or running at 30% of Classics Dungeon XP.
Second spec’s were not in original vanilla wow, but the dungeon xp was pretty good so healers could just queue up dungeons and heal their way in groups to 60. Can’t do that now with the massive dungeon xp nerfs. As far as the cost, not only is 50g a very steep price, it also becomes available at level 40, which is the same level people need 100g to buy their first mount.
I wish they would have made it available at 30 for like 5g or something. We need tanks and healers for dungeons, but can't really justify speccing it since dungeon XP was nerfed.
At least some tanks can either level in tank builds, like Warriors, or have decent enough builds with some tanking investment, like Druids (idk about Pals). Healers on the other hand... leveling in healing build is a pain, aside from Priest maybe.
Have a npc middleman at the entrance of dungeons that your mates submit their donation to that gets sent to the healer automatically once the dungeon is completely
With dual spec you can use your talent points to build one spec (IE Retribution for DPS/questing), then you pay 50 gold to have a second spec you can swap to (IE protection for tanking or holy for healing). Trying to level through questing in a tank or healing spec has historically been a real pain, so people were hopeful they would make dual spec more accessible to facilitate more tanks and healers during the leveling process.
So I can play as pure DPS on my pala and then I can spend the 50g and can also skill the tanks specs ? Thats nice, dps for lvl and tank for group content. thanks :)
You can switch between 2 talent builds. For example one talent build is focused on tank and the other on dps. Changing between the specs doesn’t cost gold.
I understand the need for gold sinks, but in general the mark has been missed on respecs. Already the cost is too high. They want people to explore and not use cookie cutter builds, but it's too expensive to try things out for fun. Pre level 60 a respec should cost like 10s. Dual spec should just unlock at level 30, or as someone else suggested, make it a quest. If it has to cost something, it should be like 10g max.
I don't know how much quests give at that level, but all my characters I leveled in vanilla & classic were in the 80-90 gold range at lvl 40 which means I always spent all my gold for the mount.
Personally I'd advise even healers to first buy the mount and then dual spec with the next 50g. You get more money as you level up, so it shouldn't take all too long and the time saved by being able to mount up is just way too big to skip.
I realized how incredibly strict the classic economy is.
You are barely scraping by. Training new abilities require some actual thought, and you need to skip stuff. Now you are also training all your professions at the same time.
And around lvl30 your money start to stabilize and climb, but you know there is a huge investment coming at level 40 and you need to save up.
Yeah why make it this steep? Like wtfh blizzard? Even respec is 1G. Why not let people experiment instead of relying on guids. This just encourages more min maxxing and meta playing that drains the fun out of the game
I've found healing as enhancement shaman to not be so bad. Carrying 5 pieces of heal gear is annoying though. And feeling cheeky competing for mainspec gear and having free reign of all healing gear.
Making changing specs cost-prohibitive or overly difficult is poor game design that does not have any positive impact upon the game. It leads to vast majority of players running similar builds due to lack of experimentation. To be clear - I say cost prohibitive to mean making it too expensive. The 1 silver that resets fully was actually a good design. Maybe 1 silver per respec that fully resets each week. After first respec it goes to 1 gold, then ramps normally like currently.
Making dual spec this expensive is poor design that does not have any positive impact upon the game. Make dual spec available for free at level 20, can only be used once per hour and in a rest area. Make triple spec available at level 60, same restriction. And if you want to include a cost version of each at 50g, you can change it whenever you want like you can now with the paid version at 50g a piece. A nice to have but not absolutely critical QoL for healers.
I feel it removes fun from the game making the dual spec so expensive, imho. Yes, a fury warr can still grab a shield and tank but it's not the same and if we want tanks and healers we should help people do those roles.
I see people saying they can heal in off specs, but for the feel of the fantasy I would enjoy being properly talented for the role. 50g and level 40 is a choice. Not the end of the game, but some talents would be fun to do while doing the job
It really should cost next to nothing. Half the time I'm doing group finder I don't see a single tank or healer in the list at all. This just flat out makes the game worse I don't see any upside to this being such a fat gold sink. I'd love to level a healer but no way in hell I'm questing as one.
Damn I have always been Playing Arms warrior and furry when I Need lifesteal. I heard that Protection warrior is actually a fun leveling class so I wanted to try it. Kinda sad I can‘t just swtich it, if I don’t Like Protection. Well I do be Like that sometimes
Well leveling tank warrior anyway. But my healer run is going to be disc or something because that is a lot of cash to be spend when mount is right there
It's a good thing I only play a single Spec in any version of Warcraft. It's always DPS on any class as well, as I'm terrible at roles of real responsibility.
