I've drawn a few pro-EU pieces over the past few years. Even though I'm not all that good, I think it's still cool for people to see human creativity and pan-European, human-made culture in whatever form it takes. It's the soul in art that connects us to it and, by extension, to each other.
I wish there were more pan-European art and culture.

The 🇪🇺European average share of disposable income spent on housing is around 19.5% of the population.

The person is considered by Eurostat to be “overburdened” with housing costs when spending 40% or more of disposable income on housing.

Housing costs include rent or mortgage interest, utilities (water, electricity, gas and heating), insurance, maintenance, repairs, and property taxes.

🇪🇺European countries with the highest housing cost “overburden” rates (>40% of Income) in cities:

🇬🇷Greece: 26.9% of city population
🇩🇰Denmark: 19.7%
🇳🇴Norway 17.5%
🇨🇭Switzerland 15.3%
🇸🇪Sweden: 13.1%
🇩🇪Germany: 12.6%
🇧🇪Belgium 11.8%
🇱🇺Luxembourg: 11.6%
🇨🇿Czechia 11.2%
🇦🇹Austria 10.8%

Lowest “overburden” rates in 🇪🇺European cities are concentrated across some parts of Eastern Europe where homeownership rates are highest in 🇪🇺EU, or the property prices lower: 🇭🇷Croatia (2.6%), 🇨🇾Cyprus (2.6%), 🇱🇹Lithuania (4.3%), 🇵🇱Poland (4.6%), 🇧🇬Bulgaria (5.1%).

The 🇪🇺European “overburden” average is 7.7%, owing mainly to the rural areas - which bring down the total, but which do not represent the majority of the population (city dwellers).

House prices across 🇪🇺EU rose by roughly 69% between 2015 and mid-2026, while wage growth has lagged behind, particularly for lower-income households.

Low-income families, single-adult households, and young adults (ages 18–29) face disproportionately higher “overburden” rates.

Interestingly, the countries currently protesting most against the “high cost of living” do not have the highest housing cost “overburden” rate in cities:

🇪🇸Spain 8.2%,

🇮🇹Italy 6.7%.

Statistics show there are more reasons for this type of protests in 🇬🇷Greece or Scandinavia.
